  • Good warm up before games or practice to get loose and the muscles firing. Modify based on the temperature, time available or type of practice (low or high intensity.) Follow dynamics with band work.

    Hey Ken, thanks! Something I've added to our warmup the last couple years are A-skips (and B-skips to a lesser extent). From the world of sprinting - not a traditional softball/baseball drill, but has helped with our sprinting and coordination. Recommend folks look into them!

      Those are great and perfect for softball--thank you! What do you think about replacing "high knees" with these?

      @@kenbergren9339 I'd be for that. I mix it up though. Sometimes we'll do both, A-Skips out, High Knees back. If I'm feeling like challenging their coordination, A-skips out, B-skips back. Finish the warm up with a lap around the field - jog out to right field, moderate run to left field just thinking of that A-skip feel, then sprint home hard. Doesn't take long for that sprint to pick up better technique.
