The System Administrator Code of Ethics

  • A lot of professional occupations have developed a code of ethics. It's essentially a statement of common values and guidelines meant for members of that occupation to reference in their daily work, as standards that those members aspire to uphold.
    System admins (and network admins, too!) also have a code of ethics! This particular one is from LOPSA, the League of Professional System Administrators, but it's been adopted by others as well. And it's something that I've found useful from time to time, just to remind myself and others of our professional obligations in this field.
