All rings loose 1/2 to 3/4 of the value for resale once purchased. Try re selling an engagement ring. A loveless purchase and re gift. Most brides would choose a ring of consideration and love over monetary value, especially as it is worthless to Kate. She can never sell it. It was already a dated style, $32.000 new, and stays in the family.
