Once again I've come back to this general conference talk. I struggle with mental illness and often do as what's Dieter said, "some people can't get along with themselves". I belittle myself, criticize myself and do as what Dieter said, hate myself. But I am a child of an all powerful and all knowing father in heaven, we all are! God and Jesus Christ love me, and I love them. I'll work on slowing down and "getting to know myself"!
Your comment resonated with me and I hope you’re doing well. Loving myself seems to be a daily struggle despite my knowledge of my Savior’s love of me. You’re not alone!
I'm a businessman. Sometimes, people ask me what stands behind my knowledge of being effective at avoiding most of the most common negative events in business. Usually I would qoute them some books that I've read or point them to a business mentor I was learning from. But after all, I realized that the key factors of outstanding business decisions come from being a member and listening to the talks like this one.
This talk is way awesome. I start my day with prayer and scripture study and listening to general conference talks. What a awesome way to start your day off right. I watch conference talks on daily basis. I met elder . Uchtdorf on my birthday while I was serving a service mission. That made my day. Even though my mommy passed away on my birthday a couple of years before. I have a picture of that special day when I met him. while I was on a service mission. What fantastic birthday present. I know in my heart and soul that day on my birthday it was planned for my life to met Elder. Uchtdorf from our loving heavenly father . When I say my prayers I thank our loving heavenly father for that special day meeting Elder, Uchtdorf. Servingothersisgreat
Please let ne share my personal experience with Elder Uchtdorf. I met Elder Uchtdorf at the District Conference back in 1994 in Zagreb, Croatia. I was a newly baptised member from a war torn area of Croatia and on that very day railways were on strike and I arrived in the Chapel at the end of the meeting. Being so late felt so uncomfortable that I decided to stay in the hallway untill the end of the meeting. When the meeting was over "my Elders" approached me and we chatted for a few minutes then Elder Uchtdorf appeared and we shook hands. Since my English wasn't sufficient enough to explain this situation "My Elders" managed to explain this whole situation about railway strike to Elder Uchtdorf. I remember that I was kindly surprised by his positive and honest reaction. That was my first LDS lession from General Authorities: No matter how we may sometimes feel about our achievement(s) the Lord loves and appreciates our true and honest efforts. Such a wonderful man and servent of the Lord. Another thing about "Fisher Space Pen" that scientists developed for use in Space, My father bought one and it stopped working because of some dust. Well I guess there is no dust in Space...
I really needed this conference talk. I really enjoy listening and watching conference talks on a regular basis. I think this is very relevant advice. Slowing down, allowing us to understand our true desires and motivations and to comprehend the things that are most important will open up new insights for us. It makes me think of how sometimes we get all these feelings in one moment. If we act rashly, we may do something that we will go on to regret. But if we take the time to validate our feelings - not to reject or try to suppress them, but rather understand and validate them - we will become greater men and women and more capable of following a Christlike life.
I love not only what Elder Uchdorf says but how he says it!!

My martial arts instructor used to say Slow is Smooth and Smooth is fast. Great recommendation. The Gospel is true.
