Wish I had a place to go to to be a part of. Getting older and can't do on my own. But, would love to do that. The dandelions are all over my lawn. I have not used any weed killers in 4 years at this house. I will be looking into harvesting them when they pop up again. I did not know how good they are. I have half of those medical problems, so going to use. I am up against the codes where live for having weeds but going with documentation to show the use of these so called weeds.
For me this is a late night feel-good video ..... A p.s. There is a movement/campaign running in my native Denmark called "Purposely Wild" (my translation) in which everyone, private households and companies, are encouraged to leave small parts, big parts all of their property untouched to let flowers blossom and help the insects. Even public areas are partly left uncut or manicured. It is getting more and more followers and woo,e are generally very enthusiastic. Lots of Dandelions around :-)
most people here on Vancouver Island Canada, know to not touch the dandelions, We leave them alone, especially for the bees. Since they are one of the 1st flowers that are out .
This is literally my dream💛 Harvesting my own produce, spending all my time outside in the sun and fresh air, surrounded by beautiful scenery and animals... you are living the dream life Gaz!🙏🌟 Also your videos radiate so much peacefulness and serenity, thank you for that🌻☀️
Yep. After having had no interest at all in growing anything for all of my life, in this last 18 months or so, its something I've become really conscious of. This is exactly what I want to be spending my time doing in the same kind of inspiring surroundings as Gaz, This is my goal for my impending retirement, learning all I can from an allotment I've got at the moment.
A Welsh lady sitting here on my 5 acres in Australia really enjoyed watching this as she was making pastry and chopping home grown veggies. I know Abergavenny very well indeed used to be married to a bloke from there.
Ive been following you for years and never commented, but I want to say I’m proud of you and your growth, love your content and your lifestyle may you keep prospering ☺️🖤
I loved watching a story about a gentleman who dug long narrow furrows about 2 foot deep and kept the soil next to the furrow, he then just threw weeds, kitchen scraps, tree cuttings etc into the furrow when full he put the soil back over and grew his veggies straight into it. I tried it so no compost bin needed and my veggies esp zucchini and pumkins grew like crazy. Try it. Ask the rhubarb owner but I think the leaves are poisonous and can be soaked and used as a natural insect or weed killer..something something lol
Hey quick pear tree tip, I learned the hard way! Pick out some of your pears while they're small, so the pairs you want to keep get bigger and juicier, and the weight of them doesn't break your young tree! ❤
I don't really know why but this video made me tear up a bit? It is really touching for me to see people who still get rapted with wonder by the smallest things. We take a looottttt of things for granted, especially for food I think, hence the importance to slow down a bit and acknowledge the small details. Watching you share your passion with such openness, honesty and simplicity is a gift:)
I live in a little town in Wales and I am glad that every verge is covered in seasonal wildflowers providing essential food for bees. Especially Dandilions. ❤ Which are the first flowering plants to provide food for bees
It is clear how much you enjoy growing food. I wouldn’t have guessed it from the early avant- garden vegan days considering you have always been quite an urban guy. It’s been fun seeing your interest grow.
Wish me luck I’ve only grown a few plants here and there but this season first time I’ve made myself few raised garden beds so excited can’t wait to try some food fresh from the garden wish you all abundant harvest and beautiful growth! Peace and love
I live in Spain and have just started growing food in tubs. Started with some potatoes that had sprouted due to the heat we've been having so I thought I'd pop them into some pots. They've all grown, so I've been planting all sorts and I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to the little miracle seedlings that pop up. It's so exciting. Every day there's more growth and it's giving me such joy. It's so nice to see you growing your food and then cooking it. It's a dream life for sure.
I'm in the Murcia region, moved here 5 years ago from south london.. i haven't started growing anything yet but like you i will have to use containers or pots. just not sure what to grow due to the heat
since lockdown and because i am a contractor and can (when i am lucky enough ) get fully remote work, i moved back to the countryside to my parents home. I also garden and grow my own veg with my mum. We're addicted and there are so many country paths to walk in Aylesbury. I am loving it. Am just a country bumpkin at heart. Wales is so stunning! just hoping this summer is good
One of my fave videos yet! Love how we get to tag along. And seeing your excitement when talking about what you're growing is lovely. Truly a spark in your eyes. Have a great end to your week!
Home grown broad beans changed my life. Food that made me feel so good I changed to a vegan lifestyle shortly after. Now my garden and cupboards have all sorts of beans and legumes in general. I love finding new types to try out.
"Heaven on Earth." That's what I think you've created. Congratulations, Gaz. Your work is truly amazing and your excitement and happiness is truly transmitted through this video. Keep it up!!
With the leaves of the lemon tree you can make a Spanish recipe called “paparajotes”! You make a simple batter, dip the leaves in it, fry them as if they were churros and then sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamon. The batter gets all the aroma from the lemon leaves and it tastes absolutely delicious 🍋🌱
I am really glad that UA-cam recommended me this channel! Mr. Oakley, your videos are like the injections of positive feelings and cosiness! Thank you!
This is amazing thank you for sharing! Hey if you get a tumbling composter you will get fresh usable compost in less than half a year! Added workout and it all composts faster!
What a beautiful life you've created Gaz! It's amazing to see how far you've come. One tip for you: try to dig up your dandelion roots after the yellow flowers have gone to seed (and have become a big white puffball...). This way, the important pollinators around your garden can take advantage of every last drop of nectar in each flower. All love from your friend the ecologist!
Lemon leaves 🍋 are great for wrapping around fish and steaming. Great for hot drinks. Used in bouquets/flower arrangements💐. Would look great in an 'arty" way when you cook inside your poly tunnel, with that lovely fresh scent. Great for wounds if you cut yourself. ✂️🍋
Gaz it sooooo looks just like I am over visiting my gran in the Vale of Glam! Certainly time to get back over there! I show these to my dad (Welsh) & he LOVES THEM, thank you for sharing & for all you do!
I always feel like my stress level drops when watching your videos. So relaxing and great content. Your vegan lifestyle is definitely working you as you look very healthy and jacked in your thumbnail. Thanks for making these videos
You're so joyful that's beautiful, full of life, radiant. It's great to see people living doing what they truly love. I also have a garden, not as big as yours, for now, but the compost heap is always full of surprises yes! Plants are miraculously great and beautiful! :) Thanks!!
You're where humanity should be. There will be more to follow. They're not done with our beautiful humanity. Im passing your info, video, to my team here in Canada. God bless.
I've never been to Wales, but it's the land of my ancestors, and as I watch these videos it makes me feel like I belong there, like it's the true home I've never really had in my current country. You are living the life I long for. Perhaps one day I'll be able to do this too ❤

Like magic, I told my partner I wanted a Gaz garden tour, and I'm treated to a half hour video! Thanks Gaz, this is so inspiring and I hope to have a garden like this one day. All the best
This is the first video I have seen of yours Gaz and I am really impressed with the content. So much that I am going to try making the 'barb' & tomato relish and maybe it will be the first time in Australia being cooked here!! I am also impressed with what you have achieved so far in your garden and hothouse with the range of veggies. I have 4 raised beds 70cm high and 2 more to build over Winter so they are ready for my Summer crops. I will be running a hothouse eventually for seed raising and other bits. Looking forward to watching all of your videos now. Cheers from the Land of Oz!!
Been following all those years, since 50k or less... Who would have thought how you'll evolve, love this gardening meets cooking, just like Wicked kitchen and Spicy Mustache!❤
Love the progress Gaz!! I had the pleasure of homesteading twice. Miss it, and SO thankful for eating fresh and organic foods daily. A suggestion for the onions and carrots. Alternate one row onions, one row carrots, and repeat until your beautiful bed is planted. This ups your protection against pests. Companion planting and raised beds is always the best way to go. You're doing great... keep up the good work, Gaz!! Much love...
We use the lemon leaves as tea. Pour hot water over leaves in a teacup or teapot. Let it steep until the water looks light yellow. It is a good rejuvenating tea for the morning or afternoon slump.
Brilliant Gaz so wonderful your living the life - fresh air fresh food no more crazy living in busy built up area. That’s exactly what I need is to live out in the country 💜🙏🏽🥰🥰
Really enjoying this content and seeing you learn more and get excited about growing your own veg and tending to the ecosystem. I love that you've got fruit trees as well- flowering shrubs and dandelions are one of the first blooms that pollinators rely on in the spring! You'll be bringing loads of beneficial insects to your garden to help eat the pests! You're doing great!
Awesome!! so inspiring and lovely video; cooking and gardening growing all those veggies, herbs, fruits,,, wow that a dream coming true. I wish I could do the same, hopefully one day. Sending you so much love from the US.
Feels like you’re coming into your own now with the combo of growing your own produce from which to make your amazing recipes. Really good to watch, I now have greenhouse envy.
this is so wholesome 🤩 I lost my mum in Dec 22' and gardening was her favourite, since my dad has taught me everything and I am obsessed with growing all my own food, with two greenhouses now and lots of plots we have so much growing 🙌 I drove through Abergavenny the other day lol
Hello Gaz, this is a great video which resonates strongly with me, and apparently many others too! We've had our land for over 5 years now and it was perhaps the thing that most got me through being locked down here in the Melbourne CBD during COVID. We're slowly developing our 4 acres into a little smallholding that will hopefully sustain and care for us, as much as we do for it. I am so grateful, and very fortunate, to have some land to care for. I'm glad to have found your channel and look forward to watching some more of your content (and trying your recipes). Thanks for it, Rich
Got a new subscriber, just because you love dandelions. Also love your enthusiasm and sense of wonder, been experiencing the same as I got acquainted with plant life - started during lockdown.
I harvested our dandelions and steeped the flowers in sunflower oil for a week. The resulting oil can be made into salve or use the oil straight on the skin, but not too much or it may make you feel nauseous. It helped calm my kiddos teen acne breakouts and it's also good for relieving minor aches and pains, it is very anti inflammatory.
I have lots of dandelions. I always keep them for the bees. I am going to try the coffee. Anything homegrown tastes amazing. Great video. Have a great week
Great video! I love the kindred garden and foodie souls in the comments too! I also ripped out my city lawn and put in raised beds. Sitting here having a kale blueberry smoothie, with fresh garden kale. Nothing like growing things yourself. THey taste so much better for you. Thank you for making this channel!
I am so happy I found this channel, going through a lot with myself and five children and I to have realised how important to just go back to basics...... happiness, love from people who actually care, good healthy foods. Wonderful channel ❤
It sounds to me as though you have the mindset to get through tough times by knowing what is real and true in life. Sending good thoughts to you and your children; stay well.
I bought a farm for my horses and first thing I did was plant many fruit trees and a hazelnut tree. We've already prepped veggie/fruit seedlings for the new season so I love the vibes of this video! Might look into making my kale beds more like yours, looks so nice and organised.
You really are an inspiration Gaz! I mean holy moly you should really be proud of yourself and how much you have accomplished! I am completely impressed and in aww. Keep up the good work and all you are doing for the environment! :) Love all your videos and content!!!
NEW HOMESTEAD UPDATE! I GOT CHICKENS ua-cam.com/video/msWyqjr-gxk/v-deo.html ENJOY ❤️

the compost heap segment was so wholesome and rewarding!
I eat a small bunch of Celery Leaves every morning on an empty stomach which is a great Liver detox. That Rhubarb Rice pudding looks TO Die For.

It's because dandelion is so beneficial, that's why it's so vilified. See also any plant that might eat into pharma profits
And it's the first food of the season for our pollinators! Dandelions are amazing in every way!
You’re doing great. Living the dream!
Just back from an afternoon in the garden and now sitting back with a cuppa tea to enjoy this masterpiece 💛 you're an inspiration Gaz.

@@richardsilver98 thank you so much that means a lot xo
@@renaybrown2767 with great pleasure.
