A Chateau Owner's Weekend at Chateau de Laland

- In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart are invited by Stephanie and Philip for a weekend at the beautiful Chateau de Lalande with some of the other chateau owners of France. They participate in a "Chateau Swap" where furnishings and decor items are exchanged, and then the entire chateau crew go shopping together at an emmaus and at a brocante antique store.

I love the glasses and pitcher. It was great seeing Lalande through Stuarts eye which gave the chateau a different perspective which was fresh and interesting.

What a fun weekend! It must have been very interesting and refreshing to be surrounded by people who "get it". Confirmation that even if you are crazy - which you sometimes must wonder about - there are other fun, interesting, creative, intelligent people who are just as crazy! The chairs are wonderful. I love the solid square shape offset by the intricate detail. Great finds!

@@notquiteachateaudiy Yes I agree. Perhaps the chateau with the most to exchange or perhaps two chateaux near each other could host the event. That way it would be easier to transport items or share the hosting.

I also noticed your capturing the new dining chairs at LaLande, my eyes are still bruised by that garish set of chairs in that dining room. The other chairs were far more beautiful and fitting in that room. The new ones are an assault on the senses. Thanks again for sharing.

I look at and admire the beauty of your armchairs in the 18th style with a particular style that resembles the carpenter of the time : George Jacob. These armchairs are really very beautiful and go perfectly in a formal room, which will adorn your small living room. Really little jewels with it seems to mewith good quality gilding

it was beautiful to see the chatelains gathering from your perspective. You offered us a more detailed glimpse into the room that was just redecorated before your arrival and everything was shown with the classical music background that goes so well with it. It must be so lovely to have a group of friends that have similar experiences of Chateau life. I love the sharing of your wares…it was like a mini Brocante! All your Chareau’s have some similiar functions but also different in the way they decorate…
In Australia we have dinners, where you go to different houses for different courses!
You wouldn’t all get together and have a long weekend where people come and look at your Chateau’s? They could offer. a donation to the renovation. You could sell any of your goods, furniture etc….
Lots of work for you all, so you even ask a set admission fee.
It is so true Lyn, that being able to chat about our chateau experiences and how to solve things was great, especially with a group as amazing as the one at LaLande. ❤❤❤. I too,love that we all decorate differently and are spanning from the 10th century to 1910. Almost 100 years of differences and many options to decorate.
I think it would be amazing to open up a long weekend and have people come and see what we have done. We will do this this fall for the history days. One weekend and limited access to the chateau. Love your comment ❤❤❤

Wow, that would have been a great time to crash at Lalande... almost all the family of châtelain I follow were represented. Fantastic time. My idea of a "garden swap" was expanded to household items and I loved the trades. Everyone benefited.
