Hey and Happy New Year from the comments section. Loved every minute of this video. Hanging out with Gavin, Sam, and Freya in an informal ask me anything was the best way to spend my New Year's Eve. Always learn a ton from your videos. Here's to more Hoey family content, and Gavin with Adorama in 2025. Cheers from SE Arizona.
Hi Gavin you’ve been a huge inspiration to me and my wife with out photography. Any chance you’ll do your 15 minute photo challenges again? Those were so cool and helpful.
In response to the very first question I have a Godox P260 led panel that allows you to adjust from I believe 2300-6500k for 99. There’s one for 129US$ that has a few effects and works with a phone app to adjust it. I have been happy with them
Always å Blast watching UA-cam, my hero! Just wanted to say that even though the couple shots didnt Get a lot of views, or whatever, I still liked it very much and i was waiting a long time for the part 2 after it was teased on Instagram 😁 so a double shot of Chloe and sophie would probably be cool, but as they Are two very different personalities(it seems) it would probably require a good contrast between them 😁 good and evil or life and death or black and white 😁 Wish i could afford going to the photography show, but maybe I can meet you some other time 😁 I think you should do a workshop in Norway 😁👍🏻
Can I ask what you use as your main studio camera/lens combo for filming? I’ve been using my OM1 with the 12-40pro to film stage shows to support local groups but I find the focus jumps dramatically with big light changes and often doesn’t return (even using manual focus with the clutch).
@@FatmanSkinnycamera-di3hq I use a combination of E-M1 Mark III and OM-1 cameras with 12-40mm lenses. I use C-AF with face detection on and all AF points in use. I don't have the extremes of light you do but it very rarely misses focus and if it did... well, that's what the other camera angles are for. B-Roll is always your saviour 😉
Also, sports themed shoots - different ideas/styles for different types of sports. Finally, ideas for your ahoots - do you write them down, sketch the studio layout, sketch the picture or other?
I was looking at the Creativity Hub for workshops in 2025. I see you are doing one on my birthday, so if i come up with the air fare can you cover the rest for me, as a birthday present, please?
Getting professional models is pretty tricky, as in...where to look to find them?? There are many Facebook of models looking for payment....but that doesnt mean tbey are professional of course. How to find a resource to find models??
@@bobgamble8204 Good question. Facebook groups are great places to start but also check out their Instagram profiles. Do they have one for modelling? Are they recent images? Do you like the look? In my experience some of the best models to work with as a newbie are semi professional. They have the experience to help but also often understand it's not just another job.
Thanks. The culture on Facebook groups is strange, has always been. Models, regardless of experience it seems ask for and expect payment often even with little experience to back them up, but photographers never seem to be paid, they are always the ones to pay. You mention that TFP isn't a good idea - there's a real saturation of it out there though
Great show, sorry I missed the live presentation. All the best for 2025

@@bertieann Why don't I just get my private jet to pick you up and save you the air fare too 🤣
@@GavinHoey That's OK, It's a bit far for the private jet to come get me, after all it is half way round the world :)
