Good video, as a disabled person on universal credit, something that might be helpful to know is that you can't have more than 6K savings without it affecting the amount they give you, also amazon prime can be really useful for getting medical stuff delivered so it could be an important subscription.
💛 Sounds like the government is a lot of their support, in which case, might not need such a large emergency fund. I would focus on one month emergency fund to start, pay off the debt in the next few months, then put the money saved from those payments toward emergency fund and computer to build those up a little quicker. Focus on emergency fund in increments. I also strongly recommend saving for a month ahead envelope once debt is paid off. Being able to pay the next month's needs with money gathered this month is so freeing, and puts a fence around how much one spends.
Here in the USA, my internet provider has a program for low incomes. My internet is $10 a month. I got it originally while my kids were in school and on the free food program. I still have it because of the disability from SSA. I would look and see if there's a similar program in their area.
The UK also has low cost internet for people on low incomes, but unfortunately it isn't very fast. It would be that this person wants faster internet, or might be in an area where there is no fibre available, and faster broadband can be expensive.
I love the budget besties. Your common sense approach always resonates with me. I agree with cutting back on the subscriptions. I need to look closely at my subscriptions too and make the decision to cut some from my budget. I will NOT give up my Budget with Ira subscription. 💛
💛 I love to see how you suggest solutions and I like to compare it to what I reccomend - to bad I can do other peoples budgets better than my own, LOL but each month is a new opportunity to try again. Totally, love your channels. Thanks for making budgeting fun.
Omg thank you. Isn't there a way that they could maybe contact their local social services or council offices for support with paying the support worker and cleaner?
For sure. My son is on the spectrum and he has 3 hours with a support worker per week. Its funded by the council. But it has to go to panel, and generally has to be supported by a family member.
Unsure if the person gets the help already but just incase they dont, their local social services can help with cleaner and social worker payments if not getting the help already xxx
Good Budget Bestie! I agree with cancelling some subscriptions to free up some income. Also, maybe after saving up 1000-2000, if they still have debt, they can put more from the emergency fund to pay it off and not have to worry about it anymore.💛
Budget Besties are my favourite videos to watch!!

And UC will count an emergency fund as savings. They do not make a difference between something you keep for fun to something you need.

Awesome insights! I wonder what a realistic list would be for their impulse spending. That will inevitably throw the budget off the rails.

Love budget bestie, hope you do mine someday!
I agree, I’d cancel some of the subscriptions and mix and change them in that situation.

💜💜💜 New subscriber here! I love this!!!!!💜💜💜
💛💛💛
💛😊
Not to mention, this person’s emergency fund goal would go down once their debts are paid off, so it all washes out in the end! 😁
