After 4 years, I’m still trying to get my vns implant. All insurance denied me. My neurosurgeon actually ended up donating surgery to me! And the vns device is being donated too!! I just need prayers that the hospital also allows the surgery to be donated to me. It’s crazy expensive. Plz pray for me. I get my answer around Monday. 5/20/2024 🙏
I had my entire VNS system removed and replaced with a MRI compatible lead and generator yesterday. My initial VNS was implanted in 2004. While VNS did not completely control my epilepsy I did have some benefit from its use. It did decrease my postictal time, it helped me lose weight and I did feel less depressed. My new device is much smarter and has so many more programmable parameters.
Hey Bryan, thanks for sharing your story. Im considering getting a VNS. Can you show us how the scars and implant now? Have you had any joaesene of voice or physical discomfort from the device?
I just had mine installed two days ago. It’s pretty tender still, but I’m hoping it will subside soon. Your post is 9 years old. I’m wondering what kind of success you’ve had?
