Titanium dioxide, TiO2 - mainly used as a pigment in paint and in sunscreen formulations Natrasol = Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, CH2CH2OH - a gelling and thickening agent derived from cellulose. It is widely used in cosmetics, cleaning solutions, and other household products. Ammonia = NH3 - This can be quite noxious in its undiluted form. It has many household uses mainly to be found in cleaning products. The dilution it is used here, 100ml in a volume of 5 litres makes it quite safe to work with, without gloves. Formalin = Formaldehyd in aqueous solution, CH2O (H−CHO) - This is probably the most pernicious of all the chemicals listed here but again, it is diluted to such a degree as to not be a worry.

Hello we are trying to restore our old home in India. we want to make a lime wash using hydrated lime. we are using a fermented hydrated lime that has Lime stone, jaggery, gullnut, aloevera, natural gum, Egg whites/curd. This is usually applied as a paste and spread with a trowel, and it then hardens into a shiny top layer. However, we do not need a hard top layer in all spaces. In some spaces we just need to do a fresh lime coat, that has a pleasing finish. We tried experimenting by diluting the hydrated lime as above, with water and applying it on walls with brush. We did manage to spread it, and it did adhere well to the wall, and did not come off on rubbing after drying. However, the finish was coarser that we would like. We believe we are missing some ingredient that will help convert our hydrated lime into a better emulsion. Will calgon help? will a thickner like Nitrosol help? Genepur? We can not use PVA as that will impart water resistance qualities to the lime coat, which will be injurious in the long term to the underlying lime mortar, which needs to breathe. As lime is already strongly alkaline with a pG over 11, would Ammonia still add some value? Any suggestions that you cud share with us would be very valuable. thanks Luv Jain India.

Around 15% talc or allimium silicate or a pyropholite, just replace the calcium carbonate. So in this specific formulation, 500g of talc and 2.5 kg calcium carb👍🏼
Sorry, thats 10% so 750g talc. (Depending on emulsion quantity as emulsion gives you sheen. 10-15% talc on around 20%emulsion) this is just a rough estimate, play around until you get the right amount that works for you

CALGON Calgon is a dispersing agent for paint, it is a slightly acidic sodium polyphosphate of long chain length. This white, hygroscopic powder that looks like salt improves the paint storage stability, slows down sedimentation, stabilizes water hardness and offers a good binding capacity with respect to calcium, and some heavy metal ions. If you truly want to observe its function mix some portion of red or yellow oxide in water, try stirring, take your observation then add little calgon and try stirring again, you will observe the pigment dissolves faster.
