As long as is able to finish without further injury, I like her moxy and she has made a memory that when life gets tough, she has the fortitude to continue and drive forward. I would hope that her team and school support her decision to finish.
This is not cool. As an athlete, I understand it’s hard to stop doing what you love (temporarily or permanently) but taking care of ourselves is more important. SN: Where is her coach? Why didn’t they pull her out?
My senior high school is coach told us a story. He went to the same high school I did, my coach. They used to have this big national meet about 2 hours outside of Boston, down the Cape. Their 4×4 team got the invite because they had the top high school time in the nation that year. Mind, this was indoors. So, when the anchor leg starts his leg the first 200 hundred meters in, he broke his ankle. He can finish the race and break their old record, lol.
This is an American thing that is driven by the need for heroes. It is the hero complex. A cop does the job he/she is paid to do and he is called a hero. A good Samaritan helps a fellow motorist in a car accident and he/she is called a hero. These are normal acts of duty and kindness in many countries. But in America they get elevated to the status of hero.
I couldn't see what happened on the fall. HOWEVERRRRRRR, that team wasn't even in screen shot of the lead team by the third leg. That was a gimmick by that last runner. She'd rather be remembered as a "hero" for finishing the race "injured" as opposed to going to Penn Relays and getting your ass kicked!!! JUSTMYOPINION
It was just an open 4x4 for track clubs. She probably went back to her day job by Tuesday. Probably had cake and ice cream to celebrate her finishing the race. Probably will get a movie deal. And by the way, if you look up "running" in the dictionary, it says "see also injury".
We need to stop glorifying limping around on injuries. This isn't the Olympics, let that kid step off the track and not hurt herself further
they're encouraging self destruction.
I agree I got injured last year during divisionals and I had 3 laps left in the the 3200. But everyone kept screaming at me to keep going and finish
Agreed

Athletes, if you’re injured mid-race please don’t continue.
dont injure yourself more (peer pressure). the officials left her hanging, should have run to her to help her off the field.
Very strong witness to her strength and love for her teammates
Good effort DC. Hope u didn’t hurt urself more. Great courage.
She found the Will within herself,
To finish, even though there was nothing to gain
, believe me when she woke up the next morning she had her pride.

That... was sportsmanship 🎉🎉🎉

We Jamaicans are the best
Sports is more than a game.
I am surprised that the officials didn't have a wheelchair or stretcher waiting at the finish line.😢
You can see someone wheeling a wheelchair over at the end of the video
That’s interesting. I hope she didn’t hurt herself more.
Ill just say... I admire ber spirit. That part, I certainly get.
I know the runner and she has been a fierce competitor all her life....
And by doing this she could be out for season or more. Emotion got the better of judgement.
Is she ok? I hope the injury was minor and she didn't make it worse by continuing.
You must finish what you start. Its simple
What happened please ?
Hamstring, pulled muscle, etc....
@@edwardjones717 oh ok thank you !!
What's her name
The anchor for DC International was really slow
Don't like this, sorry. This continuing can worsen the damage.

This is ill-advised and could have worsened the injury to a career-ending one.
Determine the succeed
Plot twist, she actually just had to go to the bathroom...
I hope she didnt make her injury harder to recover
Doing 400m on a torn hamstring is STUPID! I understand why she wanted to, but she should have been stopped. It could end her athletic career.

This was nothing short of true grit!🫶🏿
