I LOVE the fact that you don't shop exclusively at health food stores and can still maintain a healthy diet. Those places are over priced and over rated! People shouldn't be afraid of fruits and veggies from the local farmers markets or better yet, ethnic grocery stores...it's so much cheaper! And yes, fridge and pantry tour!
This is my most favourite healthy lifestyle youtube channel because not only do you kill it with the amount of nutritional info and effort in your recipes, but you also take budget into consideration. Coming from an expensive city like Vancouver, it's not always easy to buy organic, as much as I'd love to. Thanks for being a realistic inspiration!!!
+Joanne McLean :) Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback. It's really important to me to show people that I'm a normal person with normal struggles when it comes to food/finances/balance/life! All we can do is do what we can to make the best choices for our own lifestyle :) Much love!
Hi friends! A lot of you have asked for a grocery haul, here it is! Everything I got on this trip to the store- but remember it isn't EVERYTHING I eat! Do you want a farmers market video or pantry/fridge tour? Comment below, and how about a THUMBS UP please!?
Regarding the cashews, stick them in the freezer! They'll stay fresh, and you can eat them without even having to thaw them. :) I do this with all my nuts and seeds.
Mind Over Munch :) Also, raw cashews are often available at Indian food stores (that's where I buy them). Might even be cheaper than Whole Foods? Worth a try.
I love seeing what people have in their fridge and pantry tour too because it's nice to get ideas of healthy options and varieties . Never though about getting a healthier version of butternut squash soup! Looks lovely!
I love how honest and genuine you are in your videos!! Your grocery shopping (and all your videos) are so honest, please keep it that way :) I ran into your channel a few weeks ago, and I am completely hooked!
+Melina Ortiz That's so awesome, thank you! I've seen plenty of intimidating foodie/health UA-camrs. I want to show that I'm a normal girl who just loves food, and I'm on my own journey to becoming healthier, too :) So glad to have you here, welcome to the channel!
Great video....and would love to see the farmer's market version. Also, I'd like to see a video on dishes to make using what's in season. Thanks as always!
I love your honesty. Everyone has different lifestyle, tastes and financial abilities, and you always make that clear in your videos. I find you inspiring because you show that you no one is perfect, and everyday is an act in doing your best with healthy living, whatever your best may be. Thanks so much for all that you share. =)
+Jessica Valerio :) Thank YOU so much for your supportive comment. This is exactly what I hope people take from my channel. We are all different, and that's a good thing! Let's be supportive of others' to help everyone be better :) Much love
Our family had very similar shopping habits. I have three very rapidly growing preteen boys and I just don't have as much time or energy for us to eat all raw or all whole. I love to make things from scratch when I can, but you gotta do whatcha gotta do!
Thanks for showing your haul! I want to start eating healthy and this gives me an idea for what to look for when shopping. Also, it helps that you show budget friendly tips. I would love to see the what's in your pantry video and i think the farmers market video would be fun.
Yes to a farmers market video or pantry/fridge tour... YAY! to pumpkin season!!!! The whole time you were talking I'm like "put away your perishables!!"
Another tasty filling for celery is a little cream cheese then finely sliced onion and some dried chopped apricots or a smear of apricot jam :) Also add a little blue cheese to some steamed cauliflower, delicious!
Yes!! I love pantry/fridge tours! Also the Enjoy Life vegan chocolate chips are hard to find in FL! I find them at Whole Foods but thats really the only place to buy them!
+Mind Over Munch I used to find them at Albertsons, Target & Whole Wheatery when I lived in Cali. Otherwise Amazon also has good deals on them sometimes....maybe Netrition.com has them?
Grapefruit OMG yes!! Organic tomatoes ARE WHERE IT'S AT ALYSSIA!!! I would love to see a Farmer Market/Pantry/ Fridge video. Keep them coming! You guys are doing a great job, inspiring people like me to eat better and have fun with it! I WANT A T-SHIRT hahah!! ❤
Love those simply balanced butternut squash purees! I put them in my mac n cheese recipes - and oddly enough, i mix the carrot or butternut squash ones with mustard or greek yogurt and use them as salad dressing! weird, i know, but its delicious
more what I eat in a day videos, more weekly meal prep...chicken recipes pleeeze..I finally tried the cold blackbean, corn, etc salad with the mojo dressing..wow what a cool thing to accent different meals.I added jalepenos and cilantro as well to mine...great with fish. chicken and on top of a salad.. Thanks for sharing mind over munch...You are inspiring!!
Love your videos. Think a pantry/fridge tour would be very educational. Would like to see the farmer's market idea also. I live in L.A. also and get organic delivered straight from local farms. It's always what is in season and they keep the costs down, so it is a great way to go.
Would love to see some healthy recipes made with canned pumpkin! And YES to a farmers market haul/tour. I LOVE going to the farmers markets here in Virginia, everything I buy is so much cheaper than the store and super delicious.
Hey Alyssia! Just finished watching this video and thought it was great! I just thought I'd leave a suggestion about the raw cashews. I am trying to go near-zero waste and so I spend a bit of time in the bulk section at Whole foods. At least in my area, you can buy raw cashews and it tends to be a better price per weight. You can also buy just the amount that you want, so you can get a smaller quantity each week. I keep my nuts in mason jars and that works great to keep them from getting stale, but you could use any kind of container that had a seal. Hope that helps you enjoy your raw cashews a little longer! Keep up the awesome videos! Thanks, Shannon
Thanks for the tip! I have bought raw cashews in the bulk bins but they seem to go bad much more quickly than the pre-packaged, I know it isn't ideal waste-wise but I also end up wasting the cashews if they go stale before I eat them... :( So glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you!
Yayyyy for pumpkin season! I recently bought some pumpkin butter at Publix for something sweet with my toast. Not the healthiest option but it sure is a nice treat now and then. I vote yay for the pantry tour and farmer's market haul. It's always cool to see what other people consider staples in their kitchen. Another great video! Glad you and Christian are settling nicely in sunny California. 💜
+Jenny Jesse YES!! I have a pumpkin candle burning now and I'm so excited! Pumpkin butter is one of my FAVORITES! And it really isn't that terrible for you depending on which you get, I have a homemade recipe that's delicious! :) I MISS PUBLIX!!! Thanks so much for watching and or the support, more haul videos to come! Cheers
I love how you are coat effective yet you buy things that are healthy. it makes me feel like I can relate to you a bit more (compared to other YTbers who can drops hundreds at Whole Foods). great video, I thumbed up before even watching the first 10 seconds :)
Farmer's market tour would be great! Love farmer's markets, though in LA, they are crazy good and also the most generous with giving out samples compared to the one's in NYC that don't do samples at all or are very skimpy about them.
+Yvette Yasui Awesome! Yes, I am in heaven with the LA farmers markets! It's so amazing! And SO true about the NYC ones! I am always in awe when people here are offering samples left and right because in NYC it felt like a no-no!!
I have chosen to try and eat more clean as of the new year (2016) My go to are you Mind Over Munch and Dani Spies on Clean & Delicious. You women are amazing on your sweet disposition regarding eating healthy. I truly appreciate how you both are honest and real that not one size fits all. We as your followers :-) need to remember that you ladies supply us with your thoughts, experiences, and help educate us and we customize all we learn to fit our own individual lifestyle. Thank you again, for being a part of my journey on eating my clean as a LIFESTYLE. I'm prepping meals for the week, cooking more and taking care of this one body I get :-) Please know you are blessing many people :-) Wishing you and Christian great success :-) Sorry for the long comment but I wanted you to know that what you are doing is making a difference.
Woo new video! I'm pretty sure our groceries are like, 85% the same. I find myself buying a lot of frozen veggies, but there are some things I want to start getting fresh. I live in Western Washington so I feel like I need to take advantage of the produce. :) I'd really like to see a pantry and fridge tour! Thanks again!
I wanted to cry when you said that entire haul cost around $140 dollars...where i live (Canada) that would of easily been around 300$ with nothing organic
+WanderlustXO oh noooo! That's so unfortunate! This is probably 30% higher than it would be where I grew up in Florida, so even this is a bit pricey for me!
+WanderlustXO Same in Australia too, groceries are very expensive here, meat and bottled water are particularly ridiculous prices. Like water, a 24 x 600ml bottles costs 11-!
+Mind Over Munch I'm the Bahamas I spend $300 or more in grocery, not including meat or any other type of toiletries, basically bread basket items. Some fruits can be up to 10 -15 dollars a pound. If I decided to buy organic I would be broke. Eggs are like 7-8 bucks a dozen, it's crazy. I get really annoyed when I watch YT videos and ppl are preaching and saying that it's an excuse to say eating healthy is too expensive.
WanderlustXO I live on Oahu... even though I live in the US it is much more expensive because they have to ship everything here. Can't imagine how expensive it is to live in Canada...
Thanks for sharing. I definitely watch your channel because I feel like you are realistic about things and honest about trying your best and doing what works for your life. So don't feel like you have to apologize for that! Trying to be perfect is what makes us give up often. Also glad you found the black bean pasta elsewhere. I went to WF to look for them after seeing it here and had complete sticker shock and did not buy it. So I will keep looking other places.
When I first saw this video I was taken aback and intimated by all the fruits and veggies. Now I think it’s normal, it makes me happy because it shows to myself how far I’ve come from just eating cucumber, pasta and chicken, finally getting over all my foodie problems 😅
Nice to see some of the products you enjoy. I felt sorry for you when you said you get so tired from cooking so much! I did a meal prep for the week yesterday and wasn't really in the mood - I said to my boyfriend I was tired of cooking and felt like I was chained to the stove, lol. Would love to see farmer's market or fridge tour videos... love all your videos :)
+bronwenism Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :) I do love cooking, but it becomes draining doing it SO much lol! Thanks for letting me know, I'll get some of those tours up! :) Cheers!
I am a new subscriber and I love your videos. I would love the pantry/fridge tour. I am really trying to get my mind over my food. I don't know if I was doing that poorly but I definitely need more variety in the health food section. I am working on a two week menu planner right now, not easy!!! But It needs to be done before I shop. Take care and thanks for all your great videos.
+Virginia Toussaint Awesome! Thank you, I will definitely get that up :) So glad you're enjoying the videos, happy to have you here! Welcome to the channel!
I live in Canada, everything's more expensive. But I try to shop at costco for savings by buying in bulk. Yes please do the tours I'll watch all of them as I started to try and be more healthier
DEFINITELY a fridge and pantry haul! Love seeing what you have or what you eat for your lifestyle! Thanks for all the great videos. Still my favorite food guru! Hope moving to LA was a breeze! Visit San Diego sometime!! :)
If you're obsessed with cheese, get Qjetost by Ski Queen. Eat it with Granny Smith apples. It's basically boiled down whey, so it's kind of caramelized. It comes in a little square in a red wrapper, smaller than a Rubic's cube. I get my at our market, but someone told me that Trader Joe's carries it (I don't go there, as our local Trader Joe's leaves their food pallets outside in the back all day long in the summer).
I miss your old What I Eat In A Day videos. Not that I don’t like the content you’re putting out now, but the old videos are nostalgic for me. There’a a voyeurism aspect to it, like seeing into a life that isn’t my own, which I love 💕
Just came across your channel and I'm so excited to check it out. I would love to see a pantry/fridge video. LA does have some great farmers markets and fresh produce. I miss LA... :) Thank you for sharing.
+healthyeatingalways awesome!! Thank you so much :) Fridge/pantry tour coming soon :) I shared a farmers market video last week! ua-cam.com/video/37F3IxvWiJo/v-deo.html So happy to have you here, welcome to the channel!
loving your videos, they are amazing! Yes to the Fridge and Pantry Tour Video. I think i would pretty much any video you make. Love how you are so normal and to the point. Love you
I literally JUST bought that same exact butternut squash soup. I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited :D Weeee! And those purees you got from Target are neat! I'm thinkin you could use them for some kind of pasta sauce, lots of possibilities. Also, definitely love the idea of a fridge tour!
+Kimberly T oh awesome! I hope you like it!!! Yes, adding those into a pasta sauce is a great idea! I am going to try them out this week! :) Thank you!
Loved this! And yes, I'd love to see a pantry/fridge tour:)) I'm also looking forward to your Christmas recipes. The way I would cook/bake in the past doesn't fit my lifestyle today but at the same time I have to think of my family and they love all the traditional (high fat/high sugar) recipes:((
+Cheryl Hock Awesome!! Thanks so much Cheryl. I've been having a blast with the Christmas recipes so far and can't wait to share them!! :) Although, it is a bit unusual to be eating so many Christmas goods in September haha! ;)
+Mind Over Munch I'm fangirling right now :D :D and also, slow cooker season is right around the corner do you have any healthy meat in, and meatless recipes you could share with us?!
Great Video! Would love to see farmers market, pantry and fridge tour. I made the 3 ingredient biscuits this weekend! Delicious!!! I tried the healthy 2 ingredient cheese sticks, not sure where I went wrong all the cheese oozed out when baking. Any suggestions?
+Jennifer Presley Awesome! Thank you, so glad you enjoyed the biscuits! yay! As far as the cheese sticks go, usually some of mine burst, but very few. Usually 90% turn out ok! Be sure to seal the wonton's completely, press the sides with water and crimp. Also, you can freeze the cheese before putting them into the wonton wrapper and baking! :)
Our Kroger had the simple truth organic baby spinach and baby kale on clearance for $0.99 a package! They were going to expire in 4 days but I bought all they had and froze what I didn't get to eat. So needless to say our spare freezer is full of spinach and kale for smoothies lol!
I love the idea of a fridge and pantry tour.
+Pandora Vex great, thanks so much!

Hi friends! A lot of you have asked for a grocery haul, here it is! Everything I got on this trip to the store- but remember it isn't EVERYTHING I eat! Do you want a farmers market video or pantry/fridge tour? Comment below, and how about a THUMBS UP please!?

+amulya rao yay! Thanks!
Mind Over Munch :)

Yes please for a fridge/pantry tour. I also second the request for slow cooker options.
+Susan Johnson awesome! Thanks!
Our family had very similar shopping habits. I have three very rapidly growing preteen boys and I just don't have as much time or energy for us to eat all raw or all whole. I love to make things from scratch when I can, but you gotta do whatcha gotta do!
has*
All we can do is do what we can!! Even being aware is more than most :)
+Mind Over Munch Very true!

+Calisa Hardy awesome! Thank you!!! :) lol those perishables ended up okay but I'm the same way- I have to get them in the fridge immediately lol!
would love a pantry/fridge tour!! and these grocery hauls are awesome!
Another tasty filling for celery is a little cream cheese then finely sliced onion and some dried chopped apricots or a smear of apricot jam :) Also add a little blue cheese to some steamed cauliflower, delicious!
+apfelprincess45 omg yes! Amazing combos!!
Yes!! I love pantry/fridge tours! Also the Enjoy Life vegan chocolate chips are hard to find in FL! I find them at Whole Foods but thats really the only place to buy them!
+Bianca Larochelle Great! Yes, I never found them in FL! And idk about there but here in LA they are obscenely expensive! So sad...
+Mind Over Munch I used to find them at Albertsons, Target & Whole Wheatery when I lived in Cali. Otherwise Amazon also has good deals on them sometimes....maybe Netrition.com has them?
+Bianca Larochelle If you live in the northeast region, the Wegmans brand organic semi-sweet chocolate chips are vegan.
Fridge/pantry haul and organization would be terrific
Great suggestion, thank you!

I don't know if you shop at trader joes or not, but you should DEFINATELY try them. Everything is non-gmo, and they are WAY cheaper than whole foods.
+CherryBerry Absolutely! I need to give Trader Joes more of a chance!
+Mind Over Munch i believe Aldi has come to California now, try them out too, their produce and organic canned stuff are amazing!

That's so awesome!!!!!! In NJ theyre only here on the weekends for a few months at a time :/
Great advice! I don't have time to cook a three course meal three times a day either so to stay on plan I need to do some pre prepared items for sure.
+Nicole Romero Absolutely! We have to do what works for our own lifestyles! :)
I am a new subscriber and I love your videos. I would love the pantry/fridge tour. I am really trying to get my mind over my food.
+ActiveDiabetic neat! I will have to look for it! Thank you :)
I miss your old What I Eat In A Day videos. Not that I don’t like the content you’re putting out now, but the old videos are nostalgic for me. There’a a voyeurism aspect to it, like seeing into a life that isn’t my own, which I love 💕
thank you so much! I might be ready to bring these back :)
Wow you have some awesome products there for the price you paid. Loved this haul. I wished we had a whole foods here in Australia, sounds great.
+FitAnge S Thanks girl! We do get some good deals, but this is still more expensive than when I was in FL!
Just came across your channel and I'm so excited to check it out. I would love to see a pantry/fridge video. LA does have some great farmers markets and fresh produce. I miss LA... :) Thank you for sharing.

:) Although, it is a bit unusual to be eating so many Christmas goods in September haha! ;)

+Sarah Loves OMG!!! THAT IS AMAZING! I can totally eat that whole package of spinach in 4 days, too lol! Love it and TOTALLY jealous of your kroger!
