ALL THE YEARS OF TRYING - An Ode to Patrik Fitzgerald
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лип 2024
- A Low-Fi appreciation of punk troubadour Patrik Fitzgerald directed by Dom Shaw. Known as a Punk Poet and composer of the ultimate anthem 'Safety Pin Stuck in My Heart'; Fitzgerald kicked against the brash three-chord orthodoxy by performing waif-like and vulnerably alone with an acoustic guitar and a tattered book of poems at the height of the punk revolution and long after.

Love... Love love is 'Patrick. Patrick is love
🙌 44 years of listening, and I still find complete resonance with Patrik's songs.
Island Of Lost Souls is such a beautiful song I remember videoing this 'Punk film' from a music programme early 80s and never knew who sang it until I Googled it couple of years ago and here he was ❤
Patrik is a legend. He’s a lot more that ‘Safety Pin’ .. I love the darkness on Drifting towards Violence, Tonight, .. the album he did was excellent with a Robert Blamire ( Penetration) and John Maher ( Buzzcocks) .. as his rhythm section..this guy is Punk as an enduring inspiration...
This is just wonderful such a special artist St Patrik bless you ❤️
So glad I found this. Remember seeing Patrik back in the day. Unadulterated spirit of punk, very nice.
A very entertaining and enlightening documentary about a unique, likeable and idiosyncratic musician.
"Gifts and telegrams" is incredibly important for me. Bleak lyrics & warm analogue sounds + his own incredible lyrics... I had the album for years but I always have the need to know more and this doc is just precious. Thank you
P. Fitzgerald should of gained more public respect for being one of the/ the persons who showed the world that there’s more to punk rock than the 1.2.3.4 song writing formula !
Paddy Fitz Punk still has it.

It's astonishing why his genius isn t known by absolutely everyone in Britain??,!!!@€;
What does it take ...Im not saying he'd like celebrity...it's that his songs aren't in everyones blood that's just fucking wrong.
Another overlooked punk genius wordsmith is Vi Subversa of the POISON GIRLS...
Love their authenticity.
I met Patrick, we shared a cab!
I really liked talking to him!
He's so special to us !
Thankyou for this video. I have 2 early singles by Patrick Fitzgerald which I love. Good to find out more about Patrick after all these years.
Lost souls so smoothing genius
Thank you so fucking much for this, I wasn't alive in the time that he was making such fantastic music, but I've discovered it in recent years, and I REALLY fucking love it. It's damn relatable music. All The Years Of Trying have finally paid off, somewhat.
WE LOVE YOU PATRIK ❤💙💜💛💔💚 Liverpool Eric's 1978
Remember brilliance often comes in small packages.
Once you hear "Paranoid Ward" you are never quite the same again and I mean that in a good way. Thank you Patrik
Can't believe I've never heard of him before.
Glad I have now.
Brilliant songs, carrying poetry to pop via punk. The record company don't always get what they want but some of us did!
Can't add a heart emojicon for some reason ... :-[ Only the coolest cats and the sexiest punk grrls listened to Patrik Fitzgerald in Dublin in the 80s. All I could do was look on in envy and admiration from a distance. Patrik Fitzgerald: a magical artist.
Babysitter is so sharp.
I have gained an education from Grubby Stories!
LOVE LOVE LOVE PATRICK
WOW! a proper treat for me...he's like my best mate!!!
Saw him live many times in Belgium in the late 70’s early eighties Antwerp punk scene. Brilliant. Treasured albums in my collection...
Knew Patrik from stage play's at the now defunct Tom Allen art's centre, was in a production with him called ROAD. Hope you're well mate. Del.
Excellent. Thanks for posting.
Patrick sums up perfick on work rest play ...that's all understood and all over !
can't wait.
The artist REN sounds like Patrik on some tracks, like Little Fishes.
The leftist Billy Bragg.
