    On the music video thing, if I find an artist with a song that I like, I do a quick binge on their content to see if they are consistent and worth following for the long term. If they have 3 - 4 quality songs with accompanying quality music videos, I'm locked in. I will look try to look at as many quality music videos as I can find. I will skip low quality "typical" videos.

    Damn. The section where y’all talk about how short form content can be just as effective and significantly more cost efficient than a regular music video is the ultimate counter perspective to everything I’ve been working on to this point in my career. It didn’t sway me to completely change my artistic approach, but y’all definitely provided some game and insight as to how my way of doing things just might not be the way, in a musical climate that changes so fast. I understand why y'all say what y'all say.
    But then again, this music landscape is about how what works for some might not work for others and vice versa. Big love to y’all! I’ve been keeping up with the podcast and subscribed to the channel for a month now. Hope y’all had a great holiday.
    Keep the Fire! 🇵🇭🔥

      Man, my exact pov here. A super slept on platform to push longform content on is reddit. find a sub-reddit of an artist that you're similar to, don't start posting ur music right away but instead make a few posts relating to that artists to foster relationships within the subreddits n eventually users will b inclined to peep your material when u do finally post about it. currently using this strategy to boost my spotify n it works like magic. don't sleep on reddit for longform content

      @@chancegreenisdead You feel me?! What Sean and K said about making short form content eased my mental though. If we can find a creative way to make short form content as these kind of "gateways" that make potential fans and viewers insist on checking out our long form content, I don't see how we have to compromise. As long as we go about it the right way that still complements our brand.

      @@welcometothefamily_us Yo I can vouch for what you're saying. I used to go by "MC Zuko" and I dropped a music video in 2018 that racked up 2.7k views. I was just starting my music career at the time so I didn't have a big following/fanbase (I still don't lmao but I'm a lot more locally known compared to back then).
      But what was wild to me was when I checked the analytics of that video. Fun fact, I looked that shit up because I heard about all that statistics stuff here on one of the episodes haha. Turns out my music video was getting 2/3 of its clicks from Reddit. I'm assuming somebody reposted my video and loved the content so much that they made a thread about it. I have since tried looking for that thread and had no luck. Here's a link to the music video by the way:

    I'm not in that big of a Rush, bruh. If I hear something I Love I'm all in...Hittin ya social media, checkin ya UA-cam for a Lyric video or any Dope Content. Some Artists just got that Thing about em that lets you know they're the Real Deal. I notice that in Seconds. When I'm wit ya, I'm wit ya. On the music video topic I think it also matters where you discover an artist… when I find a new artist I like on UA-cam I usually go on a binge to get to know them/their word.. I generally binge wherever I find the artist… but I do feel more invested when I find an artist on UA-cam and they have a string of visuals… BUT you can cost effectively build a visual world

      Very fair point. The long term investment of music videos is still there. But, to me, it only matters if your videos offer some sort of creative entry into your world. Not superficial music videos that look like everyone else. The aesthetic and subjects within the video really matter

      @@orendjohnsonjr Don’t argue with these dudes. They are selling dreams to trash artists to get them to pay for their ‘marketing’ expertise. Listen, if these dudes have cracked every code..telling artists “How to do this or that” in every video..they should be MEGA rich. They should be able to find an artist. Develop them. Make the correct hit songs..and put them out using every strategy they have mentioned in all of these videos..and be zillionaires…but it’s all just nonsense with no real context. Bottom line…make great music. Truly work on being a hit maker for real..not just a hustler trying to make a few bucks with wack music. These dudes are running game. You cannot profess to know EXACTLY what you are doing promoting music…yet be online telling people how to promote music, rather than be mega successful music men. It makes no sense.

    The typical low effort music videos you see most artists and videographers pushing are not going to help them much, but that's what's accessible and affordable to most artists. Top-tier work is always going to stand out and get the job done when the goal is to attract attention and get someone to stop scrolling. Don't forget, most people scroll on social media with the sound off. A rollout with multiple shortform videos and a main music video, alongside the rest of the graphical and photographic content you'll need, provides the most impact for an artist if they can find the budget (which is and has always been the assignment)

    The thing I noticed about the majority of music videos nowadays is that they're more about selling you an image or story line that may or may not line up with the content but, either way it tends to overshadow the song / music itself

  • @MrBigo27
    @MrBigo27 Рік тому +3

    When my artist got on an editorial playlist, it helped. While I agree the numbers didn’t what I expected, however we tripled the amount of strings due to other listeners adding our song from discovering it on the playlist. We got over 300 playlist adds that discovered the song from the playlist. Also., as a fan, I discovered about 20 other artists that I continue to stream. Also we got a lot of Shazam’s and youtube streams from that.

      Found it, Nip said: labels project your deal with previous sales history. So to get a better deal, figure out how to release without having official sales history.. Sean and Kohrey response to it is more relevant to todays music business landscape though. Especially with tools like Chartmetric that give you an aggregate of artist numbers from streaming.
