Marla, just got my March '23 Pastel Journal. Congratulate you on you successful competition and loved your "animal entry." Beautifully done. Appreciate your site each and every time.
Thanks again Marla, our landscape is very different , but I learn so much by watching your very generous videos, l think that I will repeat a painting that I attempted in the past using the principles that I learned today.. I also look forward to the watercolour sketch workshop. Stay safe.. Cheers, Lorraine
This was very interresting! It looked to me you don’t do blending as much as some other artist do. So far it had looked to me that blending the first layer is kind of ”must”. No matter are one working with toned or untoned surfice. Very nice to see your painting proses! Great painting! Thank you and greetings from Finland!
I am so grateful that you share your time, thoughts and abilities with your demonstrations. It is such a powerful learning experience. I hear your voice like a whisper while I am at the easel.
The color of the pastelmat is called anthracite. There has been a problem with the surface of that particular color. The maker knows about this, so you can get a replacement for it if you’ll contact the company where you got it.
I love how you compressed the image, I would never have thought of that. I crop photos all the time, this idea take it to a new level! Thank you so much :)
Thank you lesson is very kind I love painting with pastel . Is beautiful the panting 🥰 i'll watch the video again to learn well And I will be here next pastel lesson. 🥰🙏
Thank you Marla. This is gorgeous! May I ask what you think of Jack Richeson hand rolled soft pastels, if you have used them? I have a small set of Sennelier soft pastels but I need more greens, some neutrals and some very dark colours. The thing is that the Jack Richeson are more reasonably priced than, say Unison or Terry Ludwig. Your reply would be so appreciated! Thank you.

The way you speak of luminosity is intriguing. I understand value and hue and warmth but what exactly do you mean by luminosity?
