- The Manhattan-bound platforms of 111 Street and 82 St-Jackson Heights were closed from May 15, 2023 to April 19, 2024 while the platforms were completely redone and renovated. These platforms are now more ADA-accessible (aside from elevators) and look much cleaner and brighter compared to before.

Looks like they already closed the other platform. Good to see they're keeping the work going. Those stations on rhe flushing line really need it.
and wouldn’t you know now, the other station is closed, same thing for 111st
It’s oddly satisfying that the renovation makes the station match up to the quality of 34th St, but I’m outraged that no elevators were installed.
It might be because 74 St-Broadway is one stop away (which is very accessible), however it gets very crowded there and it’d be useful to have more elevators.
@@logical.01I agree with adding more elevators in busier stations, but other stations that are still not accessible should be prioritized first, since installing elevators is very expensive. Speaking of that, stations should install ramps over elevators if the former is feasible, such as at PABT or Avenue H, due to their lower installation cost and in addition, lack of electricity usage or maintenance requirements. Plus, not all stations may have room for more elevators, due to limited space, which is why many elevators are inconveniently located at either end of the platform. But as long as the station is fully wheelchair-accessible, it’s good enough. It’s better to spend as less money as possible.
I like how the station is Old and New at the same time now.
Yup 😂
And now i have a feeling the MTA will do the same thing again but on the Flushing bound station
Yup, I think they’ll be renovating it later this year.
@@logical.01 I heard they will start in May 6
