Astrophysicists are currently struggling to explain an inconsistency that has become a cosmological crisis, and it has to do with the Hubble Constant, which determines the expansion of the universe.

I really hope I'm still alive when they find the answer. I've been lucky to have lived and seen amazing progress in science for 63 years and I will never get tired of learning new things. Thanks to both of you for a great video.

    • @santsuma

@Grandma Mo Says... Here's the answer...
The Universe is INFINITE both in space and time. There! You've just learned the answer to the size and age of the Universe.
There isn't THE Big Bang. There are infinite localized Big Bangs happening all the time.
The concept of "infinite" is still hard for the so-called "intelligent" beings from this planet to grasp.

    • @m0n4rch911
      @m0n4rch911 3 роки тому

When you find an answer you just found a dozen more questions so don't hold ur breath. Oh we found out that its been gazillion years since the big bang. But what caused the BigBang? So its like a localized explosion and alot of things happened during that explosion so theoretically we make mini universes everytime we light up a match. So on So on So on it wont end. So time for us is pretty minuscule at best like the life of a virus evolving and mutating and dying in seconds, there we're probably a whole civilization during those times and it was so short and that would make you think about our own lifespan coz it is indeed short. It gets crazy quick. Ah life is beautiful and its mysteries and i would love to know as much as possible but yeah it just continues on getting nuttier and nuttier whenever anyone discovers something. That's what i love about science.

@@thebananamen1026 It seems you didn't read my comment.
      I will say it again:
The "Universe" has NEVER started, it has always existed. The Universe's "age" is INFINITE.
The "size" of the Universe--> INFINITE, no beginning, no end.
As for your judgment about me not being smart... pleeeeese, this is so childish.
You don't know me, my background...
It's a bit boring to debate about how "big" or how "old" the Universe is. INFINITE is the ONLY mathematical, logical answer.
THE UNIVERSE HAS NO BEGINNING AND HAS NO END, BOTH IN TIME AND SPACE.
THE UNIVERSE HAS NO BEGINNING AND HAS NO END, BOTH IN TIME AND SPACE.
THE UNIVERSE HAS NO BEGINNING AND HAS NO END, BOTH IN TIME AND SPACE.
      ...
Now let it sink... meditate on it, allow your neurons to have little orgasms with this idea.

      You said:
"santsuma I just think it’s immature to assume you absolutely 100% know the answer to a question that literally no one else on the planet does".
The problem with your sentence is when you say that NO ONE on the planet does... referring to the answer I proposed, i.e. that the Universe is Infinite in size and eternal in time.
The "Big Bang Theory" is called a "theory" for a reason.
The debate of a beginning in time for the Universe and a "defined" size for it has been going on forever...
      Aristotle:
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternity_of_the_world
Dr. Jim Peebles, Professor Emeritus at Princeton and the Physics Nobel Prize in 2019:
TOP COSMOLOGIST LONELY BATTLE AGAINST "BIG BANG" THEORY:

The subject can be debated forever, like many others... but this is as far as my time and interest on exchanging ideas about this subject goes.
PS... As we are living the "COVID19" pandemic time, I would suggest you and anyone reading here to RESEARCH the best approach to avoiding it and if contaminated, curing it: Learn everything you can about our IMMUNE SYSTEM.
      IMMUNE SYSTEM:
What it is, how it works, why almost everyone doesn't have an optimal immune system, how anyone can improve it, and why and how our own immune system CAN neutralize ANY pathogenic microorganism.
      Wish you all the best...

    • @santsuma

      @Nakor Z ... Interesting text...
      But... you wrote:
"..something infinite in time and space cannot have ever begun at any point, therefore could not exist at all."
      Why not?
The very idea that something is eternal implies no beginning... and then to conclude "therefore could not exist"... defies simple logic.
The very idea that something is infinite in space implies in no starting point, no boundaries.
What would be the "border" of a hypothetically limited sized universe? A wall? An end to galaxies and just vacuum after that? If so, that "vacuum" after the universe "border" would extend itself to the infinite? Would it NOT be part of the whole?
Infinite and eternity seem to be concepts quite difficult for our "human being" brains to grasp... but both can be easy to grasp as well. To me, these concepts have been accepted forever.
That the number PI... it has an infinite number of decimals, doesn't it?
The series of natural numbers... 1, 2, 3... etc "ad infinitum", in one direction, right?
But then you can look in the other direction ... -1, -2, -3, etc
      From - ထ to + ထ ...

Why can't it be variable geometry distributed based on the masses? So it's not flat, positive or negative. But variable positive close to large masses and negative in vast areas of the void away from galaxies and superclusters. This might average out to a flat universe, with pockets of positive and negative curvatures.

@Joe: I first saw Dr. Becky as one of the regular experts featured on one of Brady Haran's many science, technology and math(s)-related AdTube channels, Sixty Symbols, which eventually led me to her own channel. I'm a big fan of hers, and I think it's so awesome that you two got to collaborate!!
As an aside, one of my top-fav videos on her channel was one she did on Queen guitarist, Brian May, and his contributions to science!

Joe, I love your videos. You manage to keep an impartial view of the most absurd and niche ideas. But what I like most is that you clearly spend a huge amount of time doing your own research. And are able to sift out the nonsense from the good knowledge. That's a rarity on the internet nowadays.

When you do interviews, you should edit them Zoom style where you focus the display entirely to the person speaking and only pan to you when you're speaking. This allows us to focus entirely on the speaker without being distracted by your facial expressions.

I actually found Dr. Becky a couple months ago when she popped up recommended from me watching your vids. I find her mesmerizing to watch. She's an attractive woman obviously. But, two things just jump off the video for you. 1. Her obvious intelligence and 2. Her passion for her field. Watching her just makes me want to know her more AND want to know what she finds worth talking about in general. Frankly, that's part of why I like your vids too. You seem excited to learn about and talk about these things as I have also for a very long time. Of course, I'm not even in the same atmosphere as Dr. Becky. But, it's fun to try and comprehend what she knows.
