possibly the most iconic theme in history (for me anyway)
even when i was a kid, and first played this game when it was released, i would spend so much time on the start screen, before the menu just listening to this lol, good times ;p

This is tied for me with the FF6 theme as one of the greatest tracks ever for a video game. This takes me back to when I was a kid. Talk about memories.

The Secret of Mana was a wonderful game.. 15 years on and I still rmember those long hourly days when I would sit patiently in front of my television playing this. Great ageless music together with a nice storyline and wonderful character and landscape designs.. oh man, the graphics was totally OUT OF THIS WORLD back then.. I absoultely J'adore it. Please make another one already!

I remember secret of mana. me, my dad, and my brother would sit around the tv and all play together. it is a key feature to my childhood and all my life right now. just a couple of months ago, I found my old super nintendo and invited a friend over to play the game with me. it brought back all my memories of being young i wish they redid this game so that the generation of kids today could know the wonders of secret of mana.

Secret of mana has SUCH GREAT MUSIC!!! But to call it the best video game music ever??? I'm not sure I can say that...., But I'm glad I had the chance to play such a wide range of video games, that I can safely place this in the top 50.

@AlainaSilvereyes It was done my the master composer Nobuo Uematsu, who is also responsible for the music in most of the Final Fantasy games. He is perhaps the great composer of the modern time.

Reading through some of the comments, I wonder if Kikuta-Sama ever thought his masterpiece would provoke such vitriol. I hope not.
Yes, the original is different - there is a certain charm and appearance of simplicity that is as much something to do with the technology as the writing (in fact, in those days, the two were intimately linked). But then, that's the point of such an orchestration - to bring forth something suggested within the original. Both are excellent.

    This is so awesome
snes RPGs were the best I've ever played.
You can't compare Terranigma/Secret of Mana/A Link to the past/Lufia (+ some more) with the newer RPGs with fantastic graphics leaking the story, the atmosphere and the playtime.
Back to the basics, create more SNES RPGs!!!!!!

Need to keep the comments section upto date they need remake of this game,, it probably be best to go with a full open world in realistic 3D, I'm one of those retro lovers like the next person but the whole point about retro games is that they are in a league of their own, evolution is inevitable and even applies to video games, but 3D will always be around now controller based games on a TV, the finale evolution of video games is the Matrix style full body Ready player 1 etc.. after that there is nothing else.

@kdreamland yeah as much as I hate to say it, I think Castlevania: Symphony of the Night takes the cake on some of the greatest music in video games. From the moment you enter the castle with Alucard and you heard that music, you already knew this game was gonna have BEAST ASS MUSICKS! Seriously, Clock Tower anyone?
