possibly the most iconic theme in history (for me anyway) even when i was a kid, and first played this game when it was released, i would spend so much time on the start screen, before the menu just listening to this lol, good times ;p
This is tied for me with the FF6 theme as one of the greatest tracks ever for a video game. This takes me back to when I was a kid. Talk about memories.
The Secret of Mana was a wonderful game.. 15 years on and I still rmember those long hourly days when I would sit patiently in front of my television playing this. Great ageless music together with a nice storyline and wonderful character and landscape designs.. oh man, the graphics was totally OUT OF THIS WORLD back then.. I absoultely J'adore it. Please make another one already!
Als the Story was Not completely bland like todays Game Storys, the bossfights were AMAZING and the Game was Pretty hard, i Played this in the pandemic and it saved me from depression.
I remember secret of mana. me, my dad, and my brother would sit around the tv and all play together. it is a key feature to my childhood and all my life right now. just a couple of months ago, I found my old super nintendo and invited a friend over to play the game with me. it brought back all my memories of being young i wish they redid this game so that the generation of kids today could know the wonders of secret of mana.
the fantasy and creativity in this game was magical. playing it was a good time. sort of influenced my mind for a lifetime. never ever had that experience with a game.
Probably my favorite game of all time. So many memories but the best being this: There were three of us and a multitap, we played the entire game togeather. It was awesome.
Yeah, I played through this as a kid as well, 3 player coop all the way through. Good memories, late night, snacks, sleep overs, locked solid with this game all weekend. Did this multiple times, peak childhood gaming.
Every time I lose my hope to live because I have done something tremendously stupid in my life I go back here to listen to this wonderful song to remind myself that there is value and potential in all of us...
Recently, I couldn't get this tune out of my head; I was convinced that it must be from some 80s kungfu flick till a friend told me its source! It's an iconic melody indeed!
Secret of mana has SUCH GREAT MUSIC!!! But to call it the best video game music ever??? I'm not sure I can say that...., But I'm glad I had the chance to play such a wide range of video games, that I can safely place this in the top 50.
@AlainaSilvereyes It was done my the master composer Nobuo Uematsu, who is also responsible for the music in most of the Final Fantasy games. He is perhaps the great composer of the modern time.
Thank you so much for replying ! This is very exciting - I have an SD Card here hurrah Im going to do my best to see if I can get it to work :) Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention I had no idea about this sort of thing.
Reading through some of the comments, I wonder if Kikuta-Sama ever thought his masterpiece would provoke such vitriol. I hope not. Yes, the original is different - there is a certain charm and appearance of simplicity that is as much something to do with the technology as the writing (in fact, in those days, the two were intimately linked). But then, that's the point of such an orchestration - to bring forth something suggested within the original. Both are excellent.
This is so awesome snes RPGs were the best I've ever played. You can't compare Terranigma/Secret of Mana/A Link to the past/Lufia (+ some more) with the newer RPGs with fantastic graphics leaking the story, the atmosphere and the playtime. Back to the basics, create more SNES RPGs!!!!!!
Both this game and Chrono Trigger are master-pieces of RPG gaming. So similar yet so different. Thre is no way I can actually pick one game's soundtrack over the other.
@MrSpineTelevision a.k.a. "Angel's Fear" or "Fear of the Heavens" - but whatever you call it, it's simply one of the most awesome songs of one of the most awesome soundtracks accompanying one of the most awesome games EVER!
@AlainaSilvereyes Although I love this theme with all of my heart there are little who can stand next to the brilliance of Nobuo Uematsu. I see him as THE Patron Saint of all Video Game musical scores. His gift of interpreting how video game music should be composed is a priceless gift to us all.
Need to keep the comments section upto date they need remake of this game,, it probably be best to go with a full open world in realistic 3D, I'm one of those retro lovers like the next person but the whole point about retro games is that they are in a league of their own, evolution is inevitable and even applies to video games, but 3D will always be around now controller based games on a TV, the finale evolution of video games is the Matrix style full body Ready player 1 etc.. after that there is nothing else.
@kdreamland yeah as much as I hate to say it, I think Castlevania: Symphony of the Night takes the cake on some of the greatest music in video games. From the moment you enter the castle with Alucard and you heard that music, you already knew this game was gonna have BEAST ASS MUSICKS! Seriously, Clock Tower anyone?
Why arent Square and Enix combined able to achieve something that great like Secret of Mana? Squaresoft made it on their own..you could think both would make something groundbreaking.. atleast we have our memories of such great games.*bows* Just wonderful really
Bismillah arahman arahim. And we have open your chest and placed on you the balance that saved your back and we have raised your name so If you are blessed pray more to allah as today we are blessed and tomorrow we are not We one balanced as two. One can’t be relevant without the other ❤-❤ a paradox of love and hate but today we are one and the aim is not love or hate the aim is to feed the people and live in peace enshallah Wa salatu wa salam 3ala rasul allah saiduna Mohammed sala allah 3alayhi wa salam.
I thought somebody else would think the same about it being studio Ghibly material.Maybe not for the old man to direct (certainly oversee) but maybe Yonebayashi from "Arrietty the borrower " can do it.It's a shame that Kondo is not around,he coulda done a hell of a job with it.
Man! I almost had forgot how beautiful was this game. Tonathos that basterd! LOL. The game had parts pretty difficult! The dragon at end getting mad.... Man! Now my kid play things like crash! boom! Pow! That heroism, honor of the heroes is now in the past... sad thing... If there is something like that nowadays for Xbox 360, please let me know!
@bad4ever2001 Make sure to play it with 1 or 2 friends, you can play it over the internet as well. I've probably beaten it 100 times with a 100 different friends. xd

Same. =D
It's just missing the whale song. Could've done it with a cello.
what about chrono trigger
this is still one of the most beautiful moments of music I've ever heard....it brings tears to my eyes...

Einfach grandios! Ein generell schon genialer Song wurde ebenso genial umgesetzt... Super!
The first RPG i ever played on the first console i ever owned. This brought back so many good memories!
Recently, I couldn't get this tune out of my head; I was convinced that it must be from some 80s kungfu flick till a friend told me its source! It's an iconic melody indeed!
@DavidSPaul omg... that is so sweet...
And by the way, @the uploader: thank you so much for bringing back childhood-memories...
My head just exploded from the intensity of how great this game and because of the epicness of this song.
I want a download link!
Studio Ghibli needs to make a movie based on this video game. I would watch it. I would watch it a thousand times over...
@AlainaSilvereyes: The composer is Kikuta Hiroki. I agree and have always experienced this music as very profound.
@AlainaSilvereyes That GUY who made the original sound track for Secret Of Mana (Or The Holy Sword Saga In Japan), his name is Hiroki Kikuta
Secret of mana has SUCH GREAT MUSIC!!! But to call it the best video game music ever??? I'm not sure I can say that...., But I'm glad I had the chance to play such a wide range of video games, that I can safely place this in the top 50.
this piece takes my consciousness to a higher place.

That moment the villiage elder kicks your character out of his hometown
I mean, he didn't want to, he kinda had to lol.
@MrSpineTelevision a.k.a. "Angel's Fear" or "Fear of the Heavens" - but whatever you call it, it's simply one of the most awesome songs of one of the most awesome soundtracks accompanying one of the most awesome games EVER!
this song brings a tear to my eye...a very manly tear! anyone else catch the game the other day.
Legend of Mana would like a word with you.
Awesomeness^^

of I could press thr like button a million times! I WOULD! HELL YEA!
amazing
@AdmlJoey1701 Actually, Secret of Mana was done by Hiroki Kikuta. Their styles are similar, but Nobuo didn't write the music to Secret of Mana.
No words
@AlainaSilvereyes he´s called Hiroki kikuta ;) an epic japanese guy ^^
Bleib stark michel, nicht weinen. Es ist schon lange her, aber im herzen wie als hätt ich den SNES kontroller erst vor 2 sekunden weggelegt

Best. RPG. Ever.
@Voidmaster05 That would be truly wonderful.
@kidocman Its available as an $8 download on the Wii
@heerogunkenobi Thank you!
@AlainaSilvereyes Hiroki Kikuta, Sadly though North America hasn't really heard any of his work since Secret of Mana
Sublime! :D
@AlainaSilvereyes Hiroki Kikuta wrote the music of the game. And yeah I agree.
this makes me nearly cry :D
Why arent Square and Enix combined able to achieve something that great like Secret of Mana?
Squaresoft made it on their own..you could think both would make something groundbreaking..
atleast we have our memories of such great games.*bows*
Just wonderful really
All Mana games play alike. But this is a masterpiece!

It's not quite the same without the growling sound at the beginning.
The whales!

Secret of Mana for the DS = Epic win
I miss my childhood ;(

Does this make anyone else kinda want to cry? Wow...
Sounds awesome. I wonder if there's a violin version.
Celestia - Of Coming King (World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade) (Official Video)
its frightening how well this goes with playing Dark Souls..
totally not going well with dark souls....
would be perfect if this had the clip of whale song at the very beginning. other than that it's great.
@AlainaSilvereyes Only if Moitoi Sakuraba and Nobuo Uematsu were in this pantheon too:)
@bad4ever2001 Make sure to play it with 1 or 2 friends, you can play it over the internet as well.
I've probably beaten it 100 times with a 100 different friends. xd
Now you created a new need in my life.
And a new frustration because, let's face it, it will never happen.
@ljuba1986 Seiken Densetsu 3 was quite awesome, slightly weak story, but that's due to the multiple characters.
What is the actual name of this track, if I may ask? It's brilliant.
@ljuba1986 You can get it on Virtual Console for 800 Nintendo Points. Well worth it.
@Green1Bear
It "could" be.
But it's in Square Enix's nature to make fail.
