It's basically a sort of proactive self-defense function. :) I think most modern MMOs that have unrestricted PvP capability are like that, where a PKer can be freely attacked with no consequence by a non-PKer.
Neither has ever "hated" the other. They've had arguments -- one was shown at the beginning of the 'murder in a safe zone' story, over how to handle a boss fight.

The tension I felt watching this scene was crazy I've never felt such tension in a show ever. Love it or hate it SAO is an expert when it comes to emotional manipulation.

Alot of people when the show came out actually were pissed or annoyed that these two got married that fast and young......but when you are fighting for your lives, it tends to make you live your life in fast forward based on the danger you face....if you manage to find someone who makes you happy in that shitty of a scenario....grab them(not literally LOL) and keep them close for as long as you can.

you guys need to read the SAO Progressive right now Light Novel or Manga whatever you like to read, that series is so good. Don't worry it will not affect the story of the anime that they can even complement the storyline. Please read that when you two have free time

The anime doesn't do a good joob representing this, (well it kinda does but people don't really pay attention to timeskips), but Kirito and Asuna know each other from the very first floor and they've shared multiple moments as it was expressed at the beginning of episode 6. So once they've realized they were in love with each other, they didn't hesitate about getting married. Mostly because it is the closest thing that represents a "couple" status, with speacial features like invetory share, in SAO.
So to explain why they are moving so fast in the relationship. In Japanese culture marriage happens fast because they dont get retirement funds like in the US so usually the young adults get married fast so they can move into a place and some point after the parents move in and they take care of the grand kids while the young adults work to provide for the whole family. read the authors chapter 16.5 for what happened off camera near the end of that clip you can find it online. its fanfiction but its by the author of the light novels its not for kids lol
