'Keep Moving' was maybe the greatest album Madness has ever created but still the most underrated. Beautiful piece.

Keep Moving a splendid piece of work. What did let it down though was the use of drum machines. This sounds amazing live, with a proper drum sound.

Great song from a great album - pity it wasn't released as a single (along with 'Victoria Gardens').

I thought it had real drums, but they weren't recorded live with the band. Woody had to lay down a drum track which the band would add to, hence the extra bit of drums at the end of Turning Blue, whereas on the demo the song ends before the lyrics. So Woody has to go into the studio and record the same basic pattern but longer.
There's no mention of programming on the sleeve.
This song has one of my favourite Madness basslines and Bedders nails it here!

How on earth could someone not live this? Are they mad?

Well listen to a demo version of Turning Blue with drums and then listen to the studio version, you will hear the difference. I remember hearing Woddy saying in a interview many years ago that the drums on Keep Moving were programmed and recorded. Though I'm not 100% on that, so I could be wrong. But in saying that the drums are not as strong as they are on other earlier Madness albums.

My theory is based on demos of Turning Blue with very basic tracks and a guide vocal that I heard somewhere. I'd wondered for years about the drum solo at the end. I wonder if they were going to put a production finish on the end, such as with 'Bingo' on Norton Folgate, decided not to, but kept the drum track as was.

I've listened to Keep Moving a hundred and more times. Probably my favorite album of theirs. But somehow the drums just don't sound as organic as on their previous earlier stuff. 7, Absolutely, OSB. 'Cos if the drums were, it would be perfect for my ears. What u say makes sense, from what I hear on the album. Thanks for clearing that one up for me. Couldn't really locate the research on that one.

That was the Mad Not Mad album with drum machines, not Keep Moving.
