As someone who likes to watch but doesnt play SF V this kind of quick analysis is super helpful. I don't need to know all the frame data on every move or how much dmg he can get off every combo, just having a quick breakdown of the general gameplan with example footage really helps me understand whats going on. Its easy to watch a seth vid and be like "ah that succ seems real annoying" but not fully understand how its being used or why it lets him get away with those dashes.
5:43 I kind of started to think mid way through "if the opponent is doing axe kick pressure in the corner, why not just try to dash on reaction to the rising jump and cross underneath them?" Nevermind that reacting to the jump start up while dealing with the other offense such as dash up throw. That's when I realized SKZ was spaced so if Samurai did attempt to do just that he'd land right on top of the axe kick, lol. Still, I wonder if there are any characters who have a dash that go far and fast enough to cross under on reaction? Also jeez, I didn't know they made VS1 a viable neutral tool. I just assumed it was an easy wiff punish and was something you only used if you could confirm into it. Guessing recovery frames are going to be added to it in the next patch.
Well Seths VS1 has 25 frames of recovery. That's longer than a regular fireball. You can jump in for a full punish on reaction so the recovery is fair. If we are looking for nerfs I think the only things that would probably be changed are the pushback on axe kick blocks - either that or they will be made more minus on standing block, and theyll probably reduce pushback on some of his specials like light tatsu which is -8 on block but very hard to punish (only like 3 characters can punish it and one of them is Seth and the other requires EX to do so.)
That axe kick low to the ground giving my Thunder DP follow up vibes. He's so low to the ground I'll punish the dp aaanndd I'm getting stomped on by the follow up

@@NBDbingo5 Tekken is a 1-2 combo game. I know from experience. If I had a pixel for every time I’ve seen people get TOD’ed I’d have a fucking super computer’s worth

The main point in my opinion, is that all these options are pretty much completely safe for Seth. He can just throw out special moves all day long and never get punished. Imagine if other characters were like that... Like if Ryu had safe tatsus on block, the match-up against Guile would be bit different 😄
I main Seth (because I think his combos are fun) but it is hilarious when you are fighting Ryu and you v-skill fireball any they completely forget that you have that
Since I haven't seen it mentioned I'll give my two cents. Main Abi, if that's not your thing learn Abigail as a secondary to at least a decent level. Abigail absolutely destroys low health, dive kick type characters without a fireball aka Cammy and Seth. Simply block the cannon spike or annihilation sword and they will always be negative due to how tall Abigail is. The damage output between Abigail and Seth is comparable, but the life is not. Seth needs one extra hit over what he would need against any other character to end you. Meanwhile, a single crush counter cr.hk into vt2 combo will erase 50% of Seth life. And if that combo lands with CA? Then Seth says goodbye to 70% of his lifebar right then and there. A player with higher skill than you could obviously still beat you, but the feeling of satisfaction when the Seth player texts you complaining that Abi is broken is priceless.
Seth almost replaced Juri as my main...they’re gonna get nerfed and I’m still gonna play them 🤣 Seth is freaking amazing, love the combos and their tools overall
Looking at all the good options that Seth has makes me sad to be a Ryu player. My moves fit on a post it note, but his are the size of serval college textbooks. Makes me wonder if Capcom understands good character balance.

I stopped playing around the end of season 2, and only came back for gill once, so playing this now I can see SFV really did redeem itself in the end. Frame Data wise tho they was smoking crack why is a jab plus FOUR
Seth’s Axe kick needs the hammer, no doubt about it, I main Seth and Sajam analysis is spot on, it’s the combination of thing that makes Seth too strong at open people up but if Axe kick got nerf by next patch, Seth need to receive something really good in return (SPD/command grab for example) otherwise Seth will be trash tier.
My question is why isn't anyone talkin' about the fact that he copied the axe kick from makoto? It's deadlier in my opinion when he uses it due to his overall size and probably the reason why they haven't added her to SFV :(
It's almost like while it's okay for characters to have strong tools that are better than average for their intended playstyle, it can get problematic if characters have strong tools that are better than average in multiple situations. But I don't play SFV so what do I know.
It’s apparent how theses developers release dlc characters now adays with broken buttons just so they can sell more characters. They give guile an air boom and nerf that shit to the point it’s damn near pointless to use.Give the old school character Viable tools to compete with the dlc characters or take em out the game .This aint rocket science people smh.
