- Today Pro vs. Beginner Photographer, Street Photography Challenge. I’m having a challenge with my Wife, a photography beginner(ish) and myself a pro photographer. Pro Photographer vs Wife challenge.
▶︎ Edited with my NEW Lightroom Presets Pack: goo.gl/tLja2x
Today I'm challenging you and myself to take better photos. It's a technique a pro photographer showed me years ago and that will take your photos to the next level!

▶︎ How I Edit my Photos: • TAKE Your PHOTOS from ...
We’re doing a street photography challenge in Chicago. We’re going to hit 3 locations. We both have 3 minutes to shoot in each location in order to get ONE good shot. We will then edit the shot and reveal it in the video. We will edit with my presets to keep a similar style and make it easier :)
The camera is a Sony A7R3 with the 16-35mm f2.8. Camera settings are Aperture priority mode, Min Shutter speed 1/500, F/2.8 to start (can be changed) and auto ISO. The goal is to remove the technical problems for photography beginners and focus on seeing and capturing the pictures.
Street photography is not just about the skills it is also about have the right eye. Seeking the pictures, being patient and using a few techniques to isolate your subject. Definitely check out my other videos to learn all the tricks me and Trina used :) Being a pro photographer does not mean you get it right 100% either - a beginner with a good eye can create gems in travel and street photography.
Did the results surprise you?! :)

In 10 years: "Child vs Wife vs Pro Photographer"
I'm here for your photography information, Pierre, and it is excellent. That said, it's great seeing you two doing a video together. You two make an adorable couple! May you always have that wonderful energy together! Be good with each other, and have fun!
If this proves anything, it's that being a good photographer is often about what you leave out than what you get in, watching Trina try to fit the whole of something in while Pierre gets just enough to make a good shot is really interesting.
This was sooooo fun. Great chemistry you two! Trina killed it on the first two but then Pierre rallied on the last two so I call it a tie. More challenges! More Trina! :) Keep up the great work. Super fun channel.
Hey Tim!! Haha thanks a lot! Happy Monday ;)
How is Trina so damn confident being filmed! What does she do for a living? She's a friggin natural
Who says photography can't be family fun. V Entertaining but too close to call - watch your back Pierre ;-)
Heya! Right?! Haha I know, I was SO surprised by the results - she always pretends she doesn't know - but it's not the first time I noticed the moment camera settings are done she gets good shot - the technical handling of the camera is what takes her down (and editing)!
See you Thursday! :)
I can sympathise my son, who's 10, has a real photographer's eye. Everyone's a photographer these days but with a little more technical understanding it's possible to raise the game massively so looking at how we can do this for people in perhaps a non-traditional learning style. Keep up the good work.
#TeamTrina for the win.. seriously sick edits here. Loving the format + the tips throughout.
Thanks Team JonAdrianna!!!! Hope Portugal is treating you well guys :-)
Here Be Barr yes Jon!
I find that ideal. I do this way. Thank!👌
Wow - both sets of pix were nice ... love 💕 the energy in your relationship... very fun to watch
You guys are great I learn so much from your vids and stay entertained the whole time. And Trina is adorable.
Oh thank you!!
You're just killing your intro!!🔥 This is gonna be an exciting video..!
Thank you Abir!! Hope you'll enjoy!!! :)
agree, but no wonder as he's talking that fast, that...
but the wife is talking even faster, unbelievable.
Love the video 😊👌🏻📸 more videos with Trina
She is good with video making part, that's for sure.
This video was just FUN. A great idea!
Thank you Roger! Glad you enjoyed!!
I think we should all be doing challenges like this. This is so fun + helping.
PS Loved the sun flare of the last photo. Absolute money!
Right!?
@@Pierretlambert love your work. ❤️
Lol this was really fun to watch... I needed popcorn.
Haha yes! We're going to do more like this!!

You both won cause it was a pretty cool idea and a nice video for us! Bonne continuation !!
Thanks man!!! :-)
Merci toi aussi! Bonne journée!
Hi Pierre definitively nice and funny session that you should repeat. I think you won the competition with the quality of your pics, but as trina is only beginner she is getting an extra point so you should be equal.
Thank you!!! Haha yes she killed it :)
See you in the next one ;)
The guy at 11:18 was like: "hold on Kevin... your brother was looking for a camera, right?"
Haha 🤣
Thanks for watching! I just published the New video ua-cam.com/video/Hgu3RgLcws4/v-deo.html - Enjoy!! :)
What a fun video to watch! You and your wife should do moar of these! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed :)
We might!
Have a great day! See you in the next one ;)
Challenge #1: Trina. Challenge #2: Trina. Challenge #3: Pierre. Bonus Challenge: Pierre. Very fun! Do more!
You both are amazing, both of ya nailed it..!Loved this video.
Definitely want to watch more like this!!🙌♥
Thank you Abir!! :)
Hey from the UK! I really enjoyed this video, keep up the great work!
Heya! Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed :)
See you in the next one!!
Sending the wife first is a bit cheeky as it allows you extra time to think about each 'scene' :-)) Concerning my picks: the bean both are nice but with 'shortcomings' one cuts the upper part of the buildings, the other doesn't give a sense of location, random street the 1st one, chicago sign the 1st one (the main sign has a portrait orientation that works to its advantage in my mind), 4th the 2nd one with the sun-star (in the first one the buildings have a tad too much of a backward lean). Highly entertaining video I wish my wife would play ball but I do play such games with my two young daughters and they do beat me :-) Fresh eyes see the world differently; without the weight of convention and 'received' stylistic wisdom. Tnx for sharing and esp. to your wife for being such a good sport.
Thanks for watching and letting us know which photos you liked best! And um yes, I thought that was pretty cheeky too ;) oh Frenchmen!
Hey Dimitris! Thanks for watching man! Damn you're right, should have sent her first - didn't even think of it since I was filming it ended up like this - Next time we'll swap!
Awesome to hear your favorites! Yes fresh eyes are the best. Highly believe that if no technic was required a lot more people would get awesome shots. Trina's awesome and sport! We'll have to do it again one day :)
Have a great Monday & see you in the next episode Thursday!
USA vs France.. :) Seems like you had a lot of fun.. You should make more of these videos.. Have a great day! :D
Thanks Johannes! haha USA vs France good point!
See you in tomorrow's video!!
Super entertaining to watch man!

Thank you! We need to do another one!!
ps: just dropped the new video ua-cam.com/video/_KD12g_oFFk/v-deo.html Enjoy!!
Fun video!
First Location - Hers
Second Location - Yours
Third Locations - Definitely hers
Thanks for watching!! Fun challenge :)
ps: new video is out! Enjoy!! ua-cam.com/video/IlHgNdS1-OU/v-deo.html
I agree with Alex. Pierre got the bonus round! Tough competition though, she's a good photographer too!
we would of given it to Trina!...but that extra round evened it up!...Lookout Pierre! she's coming for you! haha
That was cool! She did a pretty good job! But you can hardly say she’s an amateur.. she knows a lot already.
One comment though... You should have switched the one that started. It gives the other a little more time to think about the shot. So either switch or Pierre should always be the first to go.
Let go to the next challenge!
Hey Dennis!! Thanks a lot! You're right next time we'll switch :)
Have a great day and see you in the next one!
Check out my photography challenges :)
You guys are awesome. That video was so enjoyable to watch, my fav of you guys (I watch both channels). I think the pro photographer should have gone first...just saying. Anyway, Round 1 to Trina, Round 2 to Pierre, Round 3 was a draw, and Round 4 to Pierre. Nice work guys.
Hey Pat!!! Thanks a lot man!’ :-) that’s cool to hear you watch he travel one too! I’m curious Which one did you find out first?
Trina’s getting good I’ve got to watch out haha
I think this channel, one of the videos from Japan.
Last photo is the 💣👌🏻
Thank you 😊 see you in the next episode!
My question: I noticed that you use the LCD screen instead of looking through the viewfinder. Is this what you ALWAYS do? Im wondering if you ever have issues with bright sunlight. I ask because i wear contacts or glasses, with sunglasses, so sometimes it is hard to look through the viewfinder.
I loved this video so much!! I'll do the same one day with my wife!!
We won because you two are great together. Really enjoyed the video and a great example of different perspectives.
Thank you Clif! That's very nice of you :)
Wishing you a great week, see you in the next episode ;)
Ha! Loved it! Such a great idea, I think I may try this with my girlfriend on holiday in a few weeks time!
Hey Sam! Totally!! Try and share the result!! :D
See you in the next episode !
Pierre you need to buy your wife a backpack!! 🎒😁😆👍
Thanks for the video, you two seem like you have a lot of fun together. It's nice to see you out shooting during the day. As someone with 3 young kids at home, I find it hard to get out and shoot during golden hour. Do you have any tips on what/how to shoot during the day? I'm in San Diego and could go downtown but it's a bit of a trek.
Hey John! Thanks. For harsh light I just go for it and play as much as possible with shadows / find wall reflecting the light, use it to shoot back alleys that would be too dark etc... We even tried to get the sunrise but it was a 5:15am so we missed it... Get out there and try! You'll be surprised :)
Have a great day, see you in the next episode Thursday!
lovely as always
Thank you Sondre!!
Have a great Monday & see you in the next episode Thursday!
Love this And love your Channel. Keep it up 👌
Thanks!!
Love love this couple. 👫 I wanna be like them. Applause 👏 to trina. 😘😍
Thank you Affy!! :)
See you in the next episode!
really fun video
Thanks Irving! See you in the next one :)
Great & fun I think Trina won she has great attitude
Thanks David! :)
I was just telling my husband that we are going to do a video like this.... You beat us! Love this concept! :)
Oh really?! That's so funny! Glad you enjoyed too! Let's do a couple battle then ;p
What lens are you using
Thank you very much.
I like Pierre’s photo slightly better; not to say the other is bad! This is a great leaning experience because I think many beginning photogs including myself walk around and take too many photos without thinking about what we’re shooting instead of stopping to plan what to take....what do you all think?
Yeap pause and think about the shots. It helps :) But don't worry we're all guilty of running around shooting haha
See you in the next episode ;-)
That was fun!
Make that again in different city
Thank you Mario! Will try again for sure hehe!
I am a little late to the party, but will cast my vote for Trina for lugging that huge bag around while shooting. Fun video and good job keeping the energy from start to finish. Let's see a rematch!!!
Will have to do a rematch!
the first 3 pics of katrina i prefer but last one goes to the pro, nice and funny challenge
Thanks Sabine! :)
ps: new video is out! Enjoy!! ua-cam.com/video/IlHgNdS1-OU/v-deo.html
Thank you friend.For this,can I use 18-105mm or 18-55mm lens?
yes! :)
I wish I was Pierre's wife he would have thought me photography 😆
This was fun!!
Thank you!!
I just published the New challenge ua-cam.com/video/_ntHNgDkBUg/v-deo.html
1st one I didn't care for neither so it is a tie, second one I liked the wife's better (if it had those 2 girls off it would be perfect), 3rd one Pierre's photo is better in execution, but wife's point of view is more artistic -she lost points because of the building part on the right was included in the photo, and fourth definitely the wife is the winner ;)
Very nice idea 😀😀😀
Greetings from Germany Joachim
Hey Joachim! Thanks a lot!!
See you in the next episode ;-)
Interesting idea. I think it could have been fairer though. I'm assuming she takes photos with her phone or her point and shoot.
Hey Andrew! Thanks for watching :) You mean in general? She uses all the cameras we have and so do I :) But mainly I'm the one shooting, she'll get the camera only when needed. haha
Happy Monday!
see you in the next episode!
How heavy was the editing? ... Specially on the very last pic, was the sun original?
Yes all original, I literally just used my presets ^^
@@Pierretlambert VERY cool shot bro.
...just curious...what’s that camera on your chest...what is it for?...keep shooting more street pics...you’re gooooood!
loved it, but teach Trina how to hold a camera!
Haha yeah it's a bit shaky :p
Nice girl, congrats)).
Oh Bro today i got to know, You have a Wife also.., ❤️❤️😂lucky
My vote.
Pierre, wife, Pierre
Bonus- Pierre
Thanks Sergio ;-)
ps: new video is live now! Enjoy!! :) ua-cam.com/video/cNlSfOxyz34/v-deo.html
The Camera is BACK! Who else think Trina's shots are bangers?! (Love the runners - she waited for them to come! - so proud)

Pierre T. Lambert happy for your camera back bro 😀
Thanks Mo!!! I'm coming back to life :p
Interesting episode. Being a beginner Trina beat you hands down, sorry. :) Suggestion: Leave the photos up a bit longer and give each photo a label or name so we can reference them in the comments.
Yeah she totally beat me! But revenge soon haha
Mec, tu t'es marié avec une fille qui s'appelle "Thon" :o heureusement qu'elle n'en est pas un lol
Sinon, may I suggest you to make the challenge different: instead of a time limit, set a frame count limit (10 frames for instance) because street photography is a lot about randomness of events and you can't force scenes to apparear in front of you.
Frame limit is a good idea yes! Thanks :)
ps: new video is out, enjoy!! ua-cam.com/video/nZ7K42v5Ce4/v-deo.html
She's cute! How cool is it to have a live in model?
The best thing in the world! :)
Thanks for watching John!
Really fine. But,you both had not mentioned the details such as ISO,f,s in each frame. Also no details about f point, lens type.I feel sorry.
Hey Raja! Thanks man. Yes I mentioned it at the beginning also at the red sculpture. The lens is written on the screen at the beginning too - before we start :) 16-35mm 2.8
Have a great day!
From some angles ,she looks like Iris from The flash
Fun challenge, she might be an amateur but she has a very good eye and I prefered some of her pictures :)
Oh yeah she does!!! When I trained to become Pro she helped me a lot on shoots. She likes to pretend she is not good but I know she knows a looooot ;)
I prefered the first ones from her too.
ps, last video of 2018 is out! Happy New Year! ua-cam.com/video/92lZFpRjtUk/v-deo.html
Trina won: she's the best!
Yes I can retire finally !!! 😁
Yes fore sure!
1st n 2nd: hers, 3rd n 4th: yours. 2-2. You need to have another one...
Haha will do another round then ;)
Wheere is the result. Compare your shoot vs your wife shoot wkwk
you two look sweet together
Thanks 😊
I don't want to be mean but the lady eclipsed you from minute one but don't worry, that's normal. Anyway the video was fun and the image quality is very good, even if the IBIS in those cameras is nothing to write home about.
Hey Mannie! Yes the compact camera IBIS is terrible haha. Trina's awesome on camera - that's why we have our travel channel with more of her :p
I keep that channel my own garden haha
Have a great day, see you in the next one!
There are two things I want to mention.
1. I think you were in a better position, Pierre (since you had three more minutes to search for a shot).
2. Guys, you're too aggressive on advirtising your present
Hey Edouard! Thanks a lot for watching :)
1. Next time we’ll swap. Although I was focused on filming and not ideas I agree it is better to let Trina 2nd
2. Good to know you felt that way... Don’t think I was asking people to buy in the video, I’m just sharing that’s what I use and how we edited those pics. Guess it didn’t come out that way?
Have a great day :)
See you in the next episode!!
Pierre T. Lambert still great content! Enjoy it so much )
In my opinion “beat the clock” photography (especially street genre) is best done by highly experienced pros whose pic reflexes have become second nature. Fun but not a fair competition. Vid was more entertaining than instructive - shaky start, stable end. Cute presets plug. It looks like you use Peak Design straps - hope you have version 4 anchors (thicker loops plus split rings). PD is sending free replacements for older, thinner loop anchors. See pkdsn.com.anchorupdate. It would be a shame to have a loop failure that sends your camera back to the shop. What is the next country on your tour - you referenced next stop in earlier vid? Husband/wife host team could work for your series - e.g., as Trina improves her skills under your instruction. (I can think of one other You Tube photo husband/wife duo - you know who - but the teacher/student host team would be a new twist.)
Hey Paul!! Thanks a lot for watching and your awesome comment! Good point on entertainment vs education - in hindsight I'd add a short 30s explanation behind why each shot - what went through our heads.
Ordered the new straps! I think they're on their way...!
The next trip is actually in the US: Utah!(have you been?)
Then we're waiting for a confirmation for the Maldives in August, if confirmed we will loop through other countries (there are a lot of beautiful ones there) in the region to then aim for France around September.
Good point on the husband/wife learning-teaching team! We thought about it one day but... I like to keep this channel to just me right now - too much for us otherwise since we have the travel channel too.... :o
Again thanks for the support Paul! If there is any subject / video idea you would like me to cover please let me know! :)
Have a great week!!
Pierre T. Lambert I’ve not been to Utah. When you get there, try not to crouch in front of on-coming traffic, like you did in Chicago, eh. Otherwise, like you say in your vids - “Boom”. Taking too many risks to get a shot is not a life-prolonging practice.
I hate how they rush each other
:)
Great video Pierre Winner est l'homme.
Trina is beautiful, her teeth are soooooo white they are lovely.
Hey Lee!! I knoooooow I'm jealous of her teeth haha. Thanks for watching :)
See you in the next episode!
Pierre T. Lambert it was weird, I watched your video and then later I went into my local city 'Leeds' to take photographs. I spotted someone who was lost and gave him directions. I noticed that he had an American accent. I asked him where he was from in the states. He replied....
'Chicago'. Lol, what are the odds of that?
Au revoir pour le moment.
Oh wow! SO RANDOM! Love it!!
Pierre, you can view my eclectic photographs by searching on Google for my FLICKR page. Search for MAMF photography and you can see what I have done. Composition can sometimes be difficult for me as I am disabled and most of my photos are taken from my disabled scooter. One or two photos I think are brilliant, please take a look.
Drop your link :)
U should include her more often
Watch this then, ua-cam.com/users/PierreTL :)
Well Pierre, you are better photographer than your wife but your wife is a better girl than you haha xD
She definitely is haha
Nobody's win : whats about Michigan Av ?🤔
Haha 😆 hey Frog 🐸 👋!!!!! We were going to shook on Michigan but didn’t get inspired ha! How are you doing?!
Pierre T. Lambert . Waiting for Denmark vs France. 🐸🇫🇷🏆
Her photos were better in the first 3 loacations
She's cute.
It’s not the L Line. It’s “The L”, then you have the different color lines.
Ok thanks! :)
Oh and new video is out, ua-cam.com/video/vzAL59MBZfs/v-deo.html - enjoy!!
she's taliking too much sorry pirre's wife ( :
trina was way better lol sorry pierre 3-1
Haha no worries! :D
Funny you say “pro photographer vs amateur photographer in the video” but call it “wife vs ....”
Also, dick move making the amateur go first, bro.
13:12 very natural plug
The problem with the Chicago theater sign, any marquee for that matter, is that what’s written influences the photo heavily.
Both of your photos were great btw
Hey Samuel!! haha yeah wasn't sure at first :D
