Resistance bands are thought of as more of a rehabilitation tool or something old people use to exercise… However, this couldn't be further from the truth!
If you use them the right way, not only can they help you build more muscle and functional strength, but...
…they can also strengthen your body and connective tissues in a more balanced way, providing you with greater joint integrity and thus minimizing common calisthenic-related injuries!

Great vídeo. I use Bands on my calisthenics training for a while but use it as load option like Push up bands, Air Squat Bands, Pull Up Bands assisted or Resisted, dead bug Bands and other options. The results are amazing.

Thank you for your fantastic channel. I am 55, and calisthenics has transformed my life in many ways. Your advice has been invaluable in that regard. I only have one question. How should I incorporate the band exercise day if I am on a three-day plan? Should I set aside just one day for that?

External shoulder rotation w/ band is an exercise I learned from a physical therapist. It seemed to help resolve my shoulder tendinitis and has kept it at bay since I’ve incorporated the exercise in my routine. I also used bands to build myself up to calisthenics exercises like pull-ups and dips.

Hi Nathan, that's indeed another great one for the shoulders (I sometimes incorporate it in my warm-up). Thank you for your comment💪

Anthony, was really looking forward to this video and it didn’t fail to impress. I’ve been implementing a band workout once a week already for a year due to elbow issues. My elbow pain will come back every now and then but less since I’ve started to do a band workout instead of body weight. So basically I do 3 upper body workouts per week with one of the three being a band routine. Can wait to see the next video 💪👍🏻
By the way the link didn’t work for me.

    • @BodyweightMuscle

Hi Reindert, no, they don't, that's why Bodylastics are more expensive (and why I recommend them as a 2nd higher budget option)

Hello Ivan! Having tried a lot of these over the last decade, I have concluded to 2 brands that are the best value for money options. The cheaper option is from Black Mountain, and the more expensive option is from Bodylastics. I have included affiliate links of these in the description of the video if you also want to support the channel! 💪

@@mikemacneil1915 hi Mike! I think you'll like the video. I try to explain the value of adding bands to your training, but the end of it I also link to another video with my routine and the reason I pick each exercise. So make sure you also check that second vide after the first one! Do you also mix calisthenics with dumbbells and bands?

Excellent video Anthony. As I get older, I realize that the quality of my warmups has definitely improved the quality of my workouts. In the past I've had problems with my elbows but since watching your video where you mentioned doing triceps extensions with bands to warm-up the elbow joints, I haven't had any trouble since.
Looking forward to the band's workout video!

Good topic, and I agree with you that people seem to think bands don't have value for hypertrophy and fitness. I added loop bands to my routine after getting golfer's elbow from chin-ups prevented me from doing pull-ups for 9 months. I watched James Grage's videos and started adding several band exercises to match the areas I was working on each session. Bands really helped grow my lagging muscles, give me a better way to train legs, they take up very little space and weight to carry, and when I figured out that many of of the exercises done unilaterally gave me great mind-muscle connection that improved my calisthenics, I knew that bands would be a permanent addition for me. I've been using loop bands, but I recently got some tube bands with handles so I could better simulate the cable exercises. I think bands + calisthenics is a fantastic pairing.
