Richard: you better be real careful on those rocks. About 2 months ago I was climbing a bank of big rocks when my foot stuck between two of them. I lost balance and fell backwards down the hill onto a big Boulder flat on my ribs breaking two of them. I really thought I was going to die right there. No one around. I lay there screaming in pain for a good 20 minutes. And just now healed up
Richard I really enjoyed all you videos and i have learned a lot from you videos you a great crappy and all around fishing man we are very lucky to have you. It was really funny when you wife was after you with the brum and the little dog after her that was a good one tell you wife good job. God bless you all.thanks again.
That slab sauce is some great stuff I bought a bottle of it for crappie and have caught crappie at places no one else will catch I also ordered a bottle of the garlic and use it for catfish it works and will catch fish when first ate not biting
Richard Gene great show, very good information and have learned alot. How about making an Elmo crappie jig or Richard Gene crappie jig. Would love to purchase your favorite jigs.
Richard Gene, I got a crappie bait you won't believe to try but I was wearing em out on the tellico river up here in my parts of Tennessee, here it is Sweet corn, And OMG I purchased some 6lb Mr crappie line because it's so rocky up there, I frickin love it
I Sure Wish we Had Such Good Crappie Fishing Down here in Mobile Al... ! Yea there are Crappie Fishing here but it's Nothing like That. But I was a Commercial Snapper Boat Captain'... Spearfishing for Red Snapper & All sorts of Gulf Fish.. & Yea we also Did a Lot of Night Diving for Flounder around the old Liberty Ships. Used a Pole Spear Stick Em & Stack them up like pancakes. Lol But Our Crappie Fishing just not near as good as yours Fishing Machine... 😉
Hey Richard, thanks for all the great videos. I went searching to find this Mr Perry to see if I could buy any of his jigs but sadly, I found out that he passed away earlier this year. Do you have any other favorite hand tied suppliers? Thanks again!
I'm sure you learned but for folks that don't know. Tagged fish are generally for studies of the animals behavior and your not supposed to keep them. They want you to write down the tag number and date and time you caught it and with what bait or lure.. Take a picture helps. A phone number will usually be on the tag. Call the number and give the information. And in return they will give you a free cap or shirt. Or it's part of a competition.
It’s called angling because of the hook. They used to call fishing with a hook and line “angling” because the hook is at an angle. Other methods was called fishing. It has nothing to do with angles of the rod or casts.
I get the biggest kick out of your videos. I’m still trying to figure out why you didn’t just take the bucket with you but that was probably Elmo....lol. Keep it up I really enjoy your ventures.
I'm exhausted just watching you run on all that rip rap. Do you think an 11' rod could be slipped under docks for more controlled jigging than shooting or skipping? Using live bait as well?
the tagged crappie are for the annual wiess lake improvement crappie rodeo they hold every Feb. thru April . you have to buy a badge that costs 15 dollars. it could have been worth 10,000 dollars
Try the 9’ 2” SAM’s Super Sensitive by B’n’M it’s my go to rod......40 plus bucks and well made the most versatile rod I have found....only thing I won’t do is shoot docks with it....unless the water is way,way down...wink,wink
I have learned the secret to crappie fishing. Leave your fish bucket 50feet from where your are fishing and take a drink of coca cola every time you catch one. Yup that's the secret
Here in nc if you catch a tagged fish, you call and give location, number of tag, species, length, you get a hat,and get entered for a CHANCE to win money,i love your videis, keepem comin mr gene !
Can you please explain how you select the spots you fish. It looks like you just throw a line in the water and a fish bites. I go to places that look just like the places in your video but hardly catch anything. There's something I'm missing.
I LIVE IN KENTUCKY AND I FISH BARREN RIVER LAKE THE DEPT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE TAGED SOME CARRIPE I CAUGHT ONE I HAD TO SEND THE TAG AND 3 SCALES OFF THE FISH AND WERE ON THE LAKE I CAUGHT IT HOW BIG IT WAS I GOT 20.00 FOR THAT FISH SOME WERE WORTH MORE THEN THAT IT PAYED FOR MY FISHING LICENSE THAT YEAR LOL...
What Camera do you use for filming. You remind me of my uncle, who is crappie fishing with Jesus now, he was known as Spang the crappie buster. His name was Tom Spangler from Griffin Ga. Yall could be brothers. Any way... looking to film some of our trips for memories.
Great job, I went to Weiss Saturday and fished for over 6 hours and only caught a striped bass. Son caught a 6 lb. + large mouth bass and 1 crappie. How you catch so many from the bank amazes me.
Richard, you are flat out the most informative show on the net. I appreciate everything you have taught me about fishing. Thanks my friend. I see your subscription number is on the rise!!!
Hey Richard, I really enjoy you videos. Watching your videos gave me the urge to go fishing and I got the opportunity this past weekend to visit Weiss Lake. Luckily I was able to caught a few of the slabs (12 to 14") there at Weiss Lake, mainly from under docks. Thanks again for all tips and videos.
Richard really enjoyed the video you are the all time great in my opinion never be another one like you don't think anyone will ever be as great as you are...... little jayson said to remember go fishing when you can because it's good for you...
One of your best, brother! Don't let mama catch you. I thought of two questions: 1. How do you watch out for snakes in those rocky areas? 2. What advice would you give to people who fish new areas and don't know where the crappie are? Love your videos -- keep up the good work!
I bought the very same version of this rod, 10 feet, to use the same way you're doing right now. There are a few areas around me that I know this technique is a killer on. I call them my secret honey holes for a reason and watching you're videos make me just chomp at the bit even more to get to them but it's still winter where I'm from even though the calendar says otherwise.

Got to wonder why the long walk to the bucket.
That vintage tackle is the best!

Is this Mr. Perry who hand ties the jigs from the Longview, Tx. area by chance?
Is that Yellow Creek?
Dusty Cothran he says the body of water when he says the size limit
I live on WEISS, and that looks like Yellow Creek. That’s why I askec
Eat that crappie; it's good for ya!
That tagged crappie coulda been worth some money if you're on Weiss
Fantastic day on the water with you again Richard, Thank you. Boats are good but like you, I spent many a day fishing from the banks and still do.
Please discuss your reasons for choosing this spot. Are they all over the lake and this was an easy spot to reach?
Ouch! Not entered in the tourney.
Love your videos thanks
How does Sue cook up your crappie do you have a video on that?
Why didn't you keep the bucket closer?
Love it!

Great show. But next time take the bucket with you instead of trying to fall into the lake.
10.k fish, bet it tasted just like the rest.....
this time of year I do a lot of bank fishing for crappie
I found out that "angler" comes from the Old English word to hook a fish
I hope that tagged fish is worth $10,000.00 to you!
I thank you so much for these videos. You remind me of how my dad fished.

You should do a catch clean and cook on how you clean and cook the fish
You have to get it through the rocks (next scene) There it is!
When you said your not use to dealing with one that long. Did anyone else say thats what she said. Ok ill go to bed now hahaha
Go get'em 🎣🎣🎣🎣
You and cats and carp are some of the only true knowledgeable fishermen on UA-cam
Great video Richard Gene my longest pole is a 12 cane pole that my grandfather gave me when I was 6. I caught a lot of pan fish withe it.
Another classic. Great job!
