As a man I agree with your boyfriend. It amazes me how clueless women are when it comes to men. Women supposedly are more empathetic than men but the truth is women are less empathetic. Like for example most women think being polite is "if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all" but men don't want their but kissed and they don't like the silent treatment either. Also those are forms of abuse known as toxic positivity and emotional neglect. Also most women believe the myth that all men want from women is to sleep with them so if a man doesn't behave like a desperate loser who will sleep with strangers women think he lacks confidence. Also when men try to tell women what he actually wants and needs from her she will think he is lying about it to impress her thus women ignore it and then wonder why men don't like her.
Both are attractive, wear the appropriate attire at the right time. I (a man) tend to prefer the mini dress, only bc most of the women I have dated rarely seem to enjoy being what I think of as feminine, don’t usually like to wear dresses or really make themselves attractive. Healthy but not sexy.

I also know that I have rarely been around women who are more typically girly, except my family (both sisters are very girly as was mother and step mother, I thought this was normal, but I ended up in Alaska, and the women I seem to attract even when I moved back to the lower 48 lean more, low maintenance as a polite way of saying it?). I currently live in San Diego and will often see women dressed in the amazing outfits and want to get to know them, but despite my best efforts, I can’t seem to get in their social circles and just walking up to them and asking them out has not been successful.
