My 4th Grandfather and Grandmother are headstone transfers from the German Reformed (Now United Church) Henry Hoke (Johan Heinrich Hoke) and Hanna Hoke. Both me and my 4th Cousin John Hoke agree that there is no way they moved the bones, and that just the headstones were moved. I dont mind that they were not moved, 100 years plus after he died(1826), not a big deal. We looked hard one day to find Henry Hoke, and he is there, in the transfers laying flat. If you go there, clean his headstone for me. Evergreen doing an excellent job, thanks guys. Thomas Tyler Hoke
OMG what a complete mess. Regardless of who or when this mess was created, there is a lot that can be done to make this bad situation better. Why in the world are these stones laying flat & not standing up? Even if they don't stand over the exact graves, they should be standing, not flat. Please contact our organization.
great thanks for sharing . I research a graveyard in Pittsburgh Turners graveyard John Turner was 1/2 brother of Simon Girty. But wanted to share that I have cleaned some of the stones safely with D2 biological cleaner and made some of the stones easier to read. great stuff and doesn't hurt the stone. there are some UA-cam videos on it.
@@AdamsCountyHistoricalSociety Thank you. I visited Gettysburg a few years ago as part of a leadership tour with the Air Force. I would love to return, but my family doesnt share my love of history.
My great grand father was buried in the cemetery of his church. In the early 1900's they ( moved ) all the graves to build a church school. I can not find his grave and even talking to cemetery staff that are like family to our family we still can not find on the new map where he is buried, we know at the old cemetery where he was. Under the school maybe? There really needs to be a law about not moving cemeteries.
Personally, I think this is disgraceful. Especially since it was these "churches" just because they wanted to build on the land. What about all the people whose names are on the backsides ?? This was common. It's also very clear from the photos that they just dug a trench & chucked the remains in....the laid out stones with NO respect or regard to matching the remains with the correct stone.

Thank you for this. Tim does excellent work.
You can't make them quick enough! Love the "off topics" about the town. Thanks!
Love these videos! Thank you!

See the Reply to the comment above by Bruce Sisler. As for me, this all seems to belie "Rest in Peace." I find it rather disturbing.

Henry Hoke is a Veteran of the Revolutionary War. He is in the book there in your library, you showed it to me.
Great research Tim
At 10:15 you begin talking about a cemetery at 3rd st. Can you give more info as to where exactly that was?
This was great. Thank you Tim & Andrew. Why were the headstones laid down, especially if they had writing on both sides?
Did you ever get an answer for your question? I would like to know as well.
Good question! We are not sure. We think it was done hastily and this was perhaps the easiest (and fastest) solution.

Thanks for this - all the Necrotourists out here thank you!
Wow. That was incredibly interesting.
Hey Tim, do you think that parsonage is haunted?

I agree completely! "Rest in Peace" should mean what it says.
my step father s name was Benner are the stones that are leaning related to the stone that they are against?
That's cool!
Are you still finding graves ?
Great stuff! More Confederate info would be nice.
🤣
That could be Elias Hoke to the left of Hanna Hoke his mom

I could not agree more with you
