Nikola Jokic lead the Denver Nuggets with 40 points (15-22 FG), 7 rebounds and 13 assists to a 112-97 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5. The Nuggets lead the best-of-seven series, 3-2, with Game 6 taking place Thursday, May 16 (8:30 PM ET, ESPN)

Rudy gets a lot of undeserved hate. Just because you get cooked by Jokic it doesn't make you a bum, he literally does it to everyone. Jokic could've probably got at least 60pts on most players if he goes at them the way he went at Gobert.

I disagree, I think he would have done very similarly against other post defenders. he would've gotten some easier looks, but what makes Jokic so dangerous is that when he's at his best, who's guarding him is a non-factor. What people do not realize is that those stats and those players are just placeholders that Jokic is knocking down one by one. This is a whole new era of NBA what we are witnessing is something that we have never seen. I watched Magic vs Bird - I've watched Magic Vs Jordan - I watched the Kobe era and the LeBron. What this is nothing I have ever seen with my 2 eyes. This is a moment in time, this is history in the making. We as fans should stop comparing and just watch the game the way it was always meant to be played.

I know that somehow, someway, Rudy is gonna get most of the blame if the Timberwolves lose this series. All because Jokić is just that damn good. It annoyed me when Reggie Miller chastised Rudy for not defending Jokić. Had he not been watching the game? It just didn't matter.
Yes. AD also played very good defense overall. It’s just not enough. If Jokic is feeling it, game is pretty much over. The most annoying part is that for most super stars, you can take their scoring from them by double teaming. Denver did this to Edwards. But if you decide to do against Jokic, it’s even worse than Jokic’s 1 on 1 excellence. He will create not just open shots but open dunks every single time. So much skill in one man.
Game 1 & 2 refs were allowing equal contact D. Really hard for both teams. Game 3-5, refs not allowing twolves heavy contact D, but still allowing it for Nuggets. Sucking Twolves soul for their D.
Too bad, would be tighter games if whistle tightened up equally - loved how close game 1 was.

Well, he can't, he is really bad against centres that's always been his low point, don't even need Jokic Embiid, almost all centres in the league who can go one on one on him will win the battle, Vucevic, Valanciunas, Sabonis and such, that's why lot of fans have a problem comparing him to Dwight Howard, Dwight at his peak can defend all but two people, Shaq and Yao Ming who are both significantly bigger than him.

Okay can we don't do this, he was playing good defense the problem was Jokoc is just that much better on offense. Also most of Jokic's shoots were either incredibly high off the glass or rainbow shots to get them above Rudy. It was incredible and Rudy had a good game his himself.

Even with all that, the thing that strikes me the most is the ability to make others better. Jamal, Gordon, MPJ, KCP and so on own a lot of the career success to Joker. I mean, there's an advanced stat that says that the team without him is on the level of the Washington Wizards. With him on the court it suddenly seems that all the guys become all star. For me that's the best quality of a player, even considering the fact that this guy averages a triple double in his career and elevates even more his game comes playoff time to average 30/14/12.
He done this for the past half decade and the man didn't even reach his 30's yet. If he's able to carry on like this for another 5 to 8 years, he will become the new goat of this game.

Every time Jokic scores a bucket on offense, the Wolves have to come right back in their half court set and put pressure on him with any of their bigs (Gobert, Towns, Reid).
The fact that Denver is making a conscious effort to double Anthony Edwards on the perimeter means you have man to man coverage on the low post. This actually facilitates the 1-1 matchup on Jokic you need to pressure him with.
Should they decide to help the low block, that results in Edwards being free to create on the perimeter/mid range.
Denver does this perfectly with Jokic and Murray in their offense, yet Minnesota played a forced offense with 3s that are rushed when they don't have good ball movement.
That is why Denver is the smartest team in basketball and championship calibre, while Minnesota is struggling to be consistent in this series.
The Wolves should be winning this series, but Denver is outsmarting them, and thus the Nuggets are up 3-2.
