Great video, thanks. If you ever need to do a good deep clean. Take all your stainless parts and your pizza stone, soak it in some hot water with PBW alkaline cleaner. No scrubbing needed. Just let it sit for 30min to an hour. We’ve been using it in the brewing world for a long time and it’ll keep your stainless in perfect condition. Rock on. 🤘
Great video! The hopper comes apart into two pieces so you can clean the underside of the grate, helping to reduce buildup. Just turn it upside down and tap it against something, and it should come apart.
I’ve got one too Main thing I’d say .... do not get that fine soot wet .... ever ... sticks like %z%zz to a blanket I remove the stone using the under slot, then use a dry bottle brush on each part and the inside ... blowing loose soot out Works fine Cheers mate
I’m going to do a little stone cleaning video soon, because I think a lot of people are confused as to what they can or need to do. Thanks for watching!
What about the oven chimney ?. How do you clean that. And how often ?. My friend just got one. Not sure the model and thanks for the video I appreciate it. So when I get mine I will know.
Thank you for your videos. I've ordered my Ooni Fyra 12 so wanted some information and tips on maintenance and you explained and demonstrated this perfectly! Brilliant trick about the pizza stone! Thanks again! 🍕 👍
To lift the stone out of the oven, rather than using a wedge of any kind between the base of the oven and stone, simply poke your finger up through the hole on the underside of the oven, sorted!
Thank you for a great video that was very reassuring that I wasn't about to do anything irreparable to my Ooni. Unfortunately, I already have an Ooni Frya 12 so I'm unable to bump up your referred sales. One thing - I'm going to do the 30 minute fire clean before I wait for it to cool & remove soot. But thank you again.
Thanks for all your videos, always informative. I've used my Fyra 3 times now. Do you notice more or less soot depending on pellet manufacturer? I'm using my first bag of Ooni pellets but may try some popular grill brand pellets to try out.
For this video I just had some camp chef hickory pellets. They are $16 for a 20lb bag. I’m a BBQ guy so I have a ton of different pellets at my disposal.
All good, but what speaks against not running the oven on high for 30 min with the flipped stone, but instead using the oven with the flipped stone next time, which is a lot more environmental friendly and saves on fuel, be it pellets or propane?
How do chief - just checking out these videos for when Mister postman delivers mine... silly question time...but what do you do with the Ooni once you have finished making the pizzas? Does it simply use all the pellets and stop??
They both have their purposes. The Camp Chef running on propane is simple and consistent. But the Ooni is a wood fired and does add a little different dynamic to the pizza. I find myself using the Ooni more though because of that reason, but they both make good pizzas
I don't do a separate burn just to clean the stone as I feel that it's wasting pellets. Simply flipping the stone each time you use the oven is all that is required. While your cooking pizza on the top surface, the intense heat is cleaning the bottom surface. Once the oven has cooled and ready to store, flip your stone and it's all ready for your next pizza night.
Once you flip it do you have to run it for 30 minutes to burn it off or can you just wait until the next time you make pizza and then burn it off then while cooking?
Hello, I have an important question. I am concerned about what I just experienced after cooking with my recently bought Ooni Fyra. I used Traeger pellets since the ooni brand on Amazon was way too expensive. I cooked wonderful Neapolitan style pizzas, but when my oven cooled down I was alarmed after I found so much black smoke residue attached to the inside of the oven ceiling and chimney and even on the detachable door. Is that normal to find after cooking pizza for almostan hour? I am worry for my health and my family well being. Thank you in advance and thank you for your videos. PS. I live in Venezuela. I won't be easy for me to be returning any product I bought through Amazon.
Honestly I get the same results with the residue … I’m sure there is research somewhere that says it’s not healthy, but they also say that for any bbq grill
@@AndersonsSmokeShow I built a turntable (lazy susan) for my 12” round stone and also built a 12” x 3/8” round “pizza steel also on a turntable. They work great. I can send you a video or photo if you’d like.
With the door on I can achieve 900 after several minutes of a strong fire. In all honesty though, I get better results around that 600F temp. Higher temps makes it soooo easy to burn the outside and leave the inside under cooked
LoL the pizza stone need to be rotated 180° not flipped over :D As you can see the most dirty part is the part near the front door: rotating 180° the stone put the dirtier part near the flame hence getting more than 450°C and cleaning by activating pyrolysis temperature.
Hi, my stone is not fitting through the door to take it out, it seems as if it expanded after cooking. I’ve only used it once, have you ever heard of anyone else having that problem? I’ve chatted with Ooni and they sent me a link to this video.
FWI - The hole underneath the oven is for pushing the stone up, No need for the putty knife. Thanks for the videos.
Funny you say that... I learned it later that evening 🤣🤣
Came to say this 😂😂

Nice! Sounds easy enough

That was a simple clean, but an important one that allows you to keep making great pizzas!
Absolutely! It was probably my most asked question about the Ooni... so why not make it an easy answer with a video.
Great video! Should we be turning the stone after each use? Also, should we clean the chimney/hooper after each use?
I’ve got one too

Thank you for the video just bought and used the ooni yesterday but didnt know about cleaning it.
I don’t clean it every time, unless I make a mess. Thanks for reaching out and enjoy that Ooni!
Great job Andrew and thanks for sharing this video bro! Happy New Years!!
Thanks man! Happy New Years to you and yours as well!
Thank you, still waiting for mine to ship but enjoy watching these videos so I’ll be prepared when it comes in!
Heck yeah! You’re going to love that Ooni!

Glad it was helpful!
If you look underneath the oven towards the front there is a small hole to bush up the stone to make removal much easier.
I found that out like the day after I filmed this lol
Great video, great voice brother. Thank you!
Thanks James! Thanks for watching

I didn't know that! Thanks for the pointer Dickie!
Nice! Going to do this before cooking tonight lol
Yeah I try to clean mine every few uses because I start to notice soot floating around in there

No worries! I’m here to help
Thanks for all your videos, always informative. I've used my Fyra 3 times now. Do you notice more or less soot depending on pellet manufacturer? I'm using my first bag of Ooni pellets but may try some popular grill brand pellets to try out.
I try to used pellets that are 100% hardwood. Lumberjack pellets make 100% hickory, 100% cherry, etc and they are affordable too
Thank You. I followed your advice thank you so much! I used your technique on my non Ooni oven!
Great video! Thanks for the info. What wood pellets do you use, are they expensive?
For this video I just had some camp chef hickory pellets. They are $16 for a 20lb bag. I’m a BBQ guy so I have a ton of different pellets at my disposal.
The Ooni oak pellets are the best I have tried. Hotter temp and less smoke.
I have been using some of the 100% hickory pellets from lumberjack and really enjoy them.
how would you clean some burnd in chesse and sauce on the inside of the oven? So not the stone but the inside Thanks a lot
There is a hole in the bottom near the front where you can stick your finger in and lift up the stone. Much easier than prying it out. :)
I learned that about 30min after we filmed this video
Another Great Video Brother and Happy Holidays
Same to you!

Thanks brother. Real helpful!
💪🏻
Thanks...do you clean the chimney? Seems to gather a lot of soot.
Yes I have... mine wasn't bad when I filmed this, but I should've included it anyways.
Would be useful to get your advice on cleaning the chimney.... Our pellet hopper also
Nice video, but it would have been nice to see how the stone looks after the 30 min burn-off.
I plan on doing a video on cleaning the stone more thoroughly. I can share the results of the burn off then.
How do chief - just checking out these videos for when Mister postman delivers mine... silly question time...but what do you do with the Ooni once you have finished making the pizzas? Does it simply use all the pellets and stop??
Yeah you just let the fire die on its own and let it cool before storing. With the size of the hopper it wont take too long for it to burn out itself.
Is the fyra holding up after plenty of usage
I haven't had any issues with mine not holding up
Diggin that heavy base!
Thanks, new to Ooni, been wondering what and how to clean. I seem to have a lot more of the soot on the inside, is this cause it’s new?
I think it’s mainly because it’s an extremely hot fire right on the metal.
What did the stone look like after cleaning and was the stack open or closed?
I actually never went back to look... I just started cooking on the other side
Which oven makes better pizza the camp chef or this one? Thanks
They both have their purposes. The Camp Chef running on propane is simple and consistent. But the Ooni is a wood fired and does add a little different dynamic to the pizza. I find myself using the Ooni more though because of that reason, but they both make good pizzas
@@AndersonsSmokeShow debating between the Frya and the Koda - two things - I like using pellets. Do you find difference with flavour? Thanks!
Great topic
Thanks!

Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing as well. For the purpose of the video I ran it just to explain
Once you flip it do you have to run it for 30 minutes to burn it off or can you just wait until the next time you make pizza and then burn it off then while cooking?
You can cook on either side... so what I do it flip it to the clean side and cook on it until that side needs cleaned, then repeat the process.
Is there an easy way to take off the chimney? Ours takes a LOT of effort.
Mine is the same way, but I’m able to get it off with some muscle
How do you clean the pipes ?
If you remove them from the oven, just run a rag through a few times.

Ahh I’ve see some mods online just like that! I bet it make it super easy to make a evenly cooked pizza
Also thanks for the super thanks!
What about the chimney stack?
I’ve run a cloth down it clean the inside before. There definitely was some soot in there
Unrelated to this video, but how to you get the oven hot enough, I seem to only be able to get around 600-700F, should be more like 900ish?
With the door on I can achieve 900 after several minutes of a strong fire. In all honesty though, I get better results around that 600F temp. Higher temps makes it soooo easy to burn the outside and leave the inside under cooked
@@AndersonsSmokeShow I'm getting undercooked dough, maybe I should just make it thinner? Otherwise, the pizza comes out like in pictures..
So I’ve noticed that too many toppings or too thick will result in undercooked
Pro tip - there is actually a finger-hole underneath the Ooni that you can use to lift the stone.
I realized that after I made the video lol
I was looking for same comment, supposed to rotate stone 180 degrees after every cook and use a stainless wool pad
Might want to pin a comment that you can lift the stone out by pushing up in the hole in the oven bottom towards the front!
I can't remove my stone from the oven, it seems to be bigger than the opening so it doesn't fit through it, any idea why?
Try getting it at an angle. Also there a little hole underneath the oven to help you pop it up
Ther is a hole to push up the stone i the bottom 😊
I found that our almost immediately after I filmed this 🤦🏼♂️
Some tips for removing burned remains from the Pellet tube?
Nice job Bro! Greez from #TinusBBQ
Thanks dude!
It seems a lot tougher to take the stone out than ooni make it out to be
At the time I didn’t realize there’s a hole in the bottom where you can easily pop it out
LoL the pizza stone need to be rotated 180° not flipped over :D
As you can see the most dirty part is the part near the front door: rotating 180° the stone put the dirtier part near the flame hence getting more than 450°C and cleaning by activating pyrolysis temperature.
Ooni’s care instructions say to flip it. That’s what I went by.
@@AndersonsSmokeShow yes but in your video you didn't show how it ended up :D
I cant get the stone out of mine
There’s a hole in the bottom that you can poke a screwdriver through and it will lift the stone
Hi, my stone is not fitting through the door to take it out, it seems as if it expanded after cooking. I’ve only used it once, have you ever heard of anyone else having that problem? I’ve chatted with Ooni and they sent me a link to this video.
Update, I got it out, I think I was lifting it too much.
Yeah it’s a tight fit.. I had a little struggle with mine as well
For getting the stone out - there's a hole in the bottom
I found that out after the fact 🤦🏼♂️
Curious, are you in Ohio?
Yup! Northeast Ohio
When cleaning, do not wear nice clothing. It will get soot nasty. Expendable gloves are preferred.
Very true!
Call this clean 😂
