I hate myself for discovering these guys just now. Rip Mr Gold
Only song by them i've heard, but it's compelled me to purchase a shirt, and the CD.
I wish I had the opportunity to see them live. I will always love this band, especially this song ❤
Really love this song RIP David.
"The loss of love, has left me hollow
All bliss twists into pain, Where there was joy,
years of grief have followed"
- Feels, The
If you've never experienced "thunder snow" you've really been alive. The power and beauty are something that will change you.
Experienced it on the side of a mountain at 14-thousand feet years ago. It was as you said.
Saw it last year and it was something else for sure....makes this song hit different
I finally saw it during a michigan snowstorm! The whole sky lit up blue green!
Years of Sorrow. RIP DAVID GOLD.
For those who wanna learn this song, I'm making this comment to make it more convenient to get back to the beginning of each section, as opposed to skipping back 10 seconds or splitting hairs with the time bar.
Band enters 0:07
Paradiddle-diddle 0:14
Main riff intro 0:28
Intro key change 0:42
Verse 0:56
Pre-chorus 1:23
Chorus 1:50 (just repeat the paradiddle-diddle section)
Post-chorus 2:04 (main riff)
Solo 2:18
Bridge 2:32
@nickb2510 The tuning I'd use is C# standard, so Bbm would be rooted 5th string 4th fret, etc. Use inverted power chords whenever and wherever you can.
Much of the song is built on Bbm, Fm, Db, Ab (pay very close attention to the inversions).
The key change at the beginning goes to Ebm, so the chords are Eb5, Ab(b5), Eb5, Ab(b6), with an octave harmony lead line on top, then transitions back to Bbm.
The verse chords are Bb5, F5, Gb5, Ab5.
The pre-chorus is Bbm, Bbsus2, Db5, C5 (pay attention to the syncopations between these power chords).
The solo and bridge are Bb5, Db5, Ebm, Ebsus2 (there's some more syncopation stuff you'll need to figure out with the Eb stuff. Just listen closely). If you wanna play the actual solo, make sure you pay close attention to what the Eb parts are doing.
Repeat everything from the key change, omit the solo and bridge upon the repeat.
Edit: make sure you're paying close attention to all the chord inversions throughout the song. Some are in root position, but most aren't.
damnly epic song
There was a flash of lightning, Followed by snow
In a moment of silence (for myself), After a shock to the soul
With a look of disbelief, Alone and numb to the cold
I knew the last moment had passed, Before enduring years of sorrow
There was a crack of electric light, coming down from a darkened sky
My dreams flashed before my eyes, as they were erased from my life.
There was a flash of lightning, Followed by snow
Twas just the moment of change, Before years of sorrow
The shock and awe, the fright and woe
I only had one life to live, and life said no.
The loss of love, has left me hollow
All bliss twists into pain, Where there was joy, years of grief have followed!
There was a flash of lightning, followed by snow
It struck my heart, only once... which made me want it more
The emptiness it left in me, will always need to be filled
For it will be there all the time, from now on, forever more.
There was a crack of electric light, coming down from a darkened sky
My dreams flashed before my eyes, AS they were erased from my life.
There was a flash of lightning, Followed by snow
Twas just a moment of pain, Before years of sorrow
The shock and awe, the fright and woe
And when I asked for a second chance, life said no.

This band is so amazing!
Best album they wrote and a great opener
fantastic!!
This song just takes my breath away! Absolutely love it. So gutted to have only just become a fan of this underrated band.
And when I asked for a second chance, life said no.
Damn this is amazing, i hope they never stop making music.
Hate to tell ya this my friend, but the singer to this song passed away many years ago, so they decided not to go further after that. Sad, because I’m sure they would’ve made much more. But rest to David ❤.
@TheKing-dm3br I doubt it. Some musicians have far too much influence on what makes their band so great.
Without David this band would suffer far too greatly. Better off starting completely fresh as a new entity
David Gold R.I.P
I only had one life to live, and life said no...

discazo la concha de dios
Ok I like this band but I’m not crazy about the black metal singer sometimes I kinda wish they just have David gold sing all the time but that’s just me I didn’t write the music but I guess I can get past that because I do like the band and being a big fan of type o neative this is very similar but one question how do singers sing like this without getting a sore or scratchy throat from singing like this I could never sing like that without getting one
Dread Media wow I didn’t know that what a range of a voice there very impressive
Many singers grow used to it and the technique of growls(the screaming) mainly focuses on the use of the diaphragm not so much your throat. David is the singer of the screaming as well, he did every vocal exept in the original EP Woods released. However, when they used to play live the bass player also did growls for when there were two voices.
It's all about practice and technique. you can certainly hurt yourself doing them incorrectly. But you gotta test your limits and find a sweet spot. Practice their and then branch out slowly.
Sounds like a not as interesting or emotional version of Yearning. It's cool though....
@@nicoloenricorimoldi7425 sounds about right. I'm sure Yearning were Type O Negative fans too. All three bands are similar. And all three frontmen are dead. I think Yearning are the best.
@@Aenigmakil I prefer Type O, but Yearning's great, too. Plaintive Scenes and Evershade are rock solid albums.
Juhani Palomäki's other band Colossum is even better; the best Funeral Doom band to ever do it, in my eyes.
@@nicoloenricorimoldi7425 you have good taste! I love Colosseum but prefer Yearning (because the cleans mixed with growls is my favourite dynamic in melancholic music). Colosseum are definitely the best funeral doom band though. Chapter II ahhh 🖤
this is the album that keeps me from offing myself
This band is way too underrated
Agreed
тоже согласен
Agreed man absolutely a fantastic band
By who?
Couldn’t agree more
