My dad who's Alzheimer's has now gotten progressively worse was at a time like Henry. I used to play the music he listened to in his youth and found him responsive in actually singing the songs and being able to answer several questions. The power of music is amazing.
Do you think it has helped to slow the progression at all? I'm doing a music event and been talking with some ppl, about what we can put together after my event!!
Dementia is the huge, hideous, heavy, iron door of a solitary confinement cell. Music is a key that, even if just for a moment, allows the person to unlock that horrid door and get a glimpse of themself again.
Has anyone ever thought about maybe trying this on a comatose person ? This is amazing if I can work on dementia why not try it on a comatose it might bring them out ?
@@tacomeme429 It's more like a blank. When I woke up from a coma I just opened my eyes and felt like any amount of time could have passed by. Two seconds or 2 years. I didn't have any dreams or feelings. Just a blank
My wife went into a coma and they recommended some new modern medicinal way of waking her up …go in and have oral sec with her ….well I was desperate and wanted to try anything but after a few minutes I had to stop and tell the doctor she kept choking….ugh modern medicine
This is the same reason why Ozzy is senile and barely coherent, until he gets on stage and then he's singing and dancing like he's suddenly 20 years younger. That's the healing power of music.

"I'll Be Home for Christmas."
God bless Henry and Oliver Sacks.
God is obviously withholding his blessings from Henry. I don't think your youtube comment will change that.
