Great video! I have fond memories of this game from my youth. I wish they would release an updated version of this with today's technology. Murder mystery games are my favorite yet in short supply.
Yeah, you'd think with how popular the detective / murder mystery TV shows are that there would be more games. But the ones they do make these days are just hidden object games. Which are not the same. you have to go back to find games like Cruise for a Corpse, the Luara Bow games to find them. The only modern game I can think of is Contradiction.
@@GouldFishOnGames I agree - I'd like to see more murder mystery who-dunnits in every game genre (video games, board games, electric devices like this, etc.) Fingers crossed some game companies realize this is an untapped, potentially popular market.
That is the reason I came to the video, to see if there was an updated game. This was my favorite game of all time. I STILL have it, in tact as the OP. Just need some more sheets lol.
@@GouldFishOnGames The computer is in GREAT condition and it has all the cards, instruction booklet and quite a few of the pages. I'm very pleased. Looking forward to showing this on my channel as well. Such a great find! Crossing fingers when I put the batteries in. The leads look good enough that they should work.
@@boardgameman6298 Awesome! Mine was a little rusty but cleaning up the contacts helped. the rest of the electronics is quite simple so not too much that can go wrong
@@GouldFishOnGames It looks like my box is different than yours is. Mine was rectangle and didn't have the black insert. Interesting. Oh, by the way I'm subscriber #924! Keep up the good work!

I wish someone could remake this. It's such a great game that I only recently found out about and I love that it is single-player. With today's technology, the game could potentially have a million different cases to solve, with an expanded number of locations, weapons, questions, and characters.
Hahaha, I never noticed that before (not that I've memorised famous murderers), I was wondering if box was based on shows or films. But I guess its just historical figures.
I cannot count how many hours I spent playing this game in 1981-1983. I would use a pencil and erase, so I could keep using the notepads sheets, until they were just unusable. Someone should create a current day app for computers, and mobile devices, to emulate this game. It is surprisingly fun, and interesting.
Yeah its a great game, I'm sure most people were using pencil and reused those pages. I've actually considered what the logic behind the game might be like.
This game really makes you do the detective and receptionist work all at once. It looks like a cool game but I'm guessing it was quite expensive back in the day.
You need to take good notes if you want to be a detective! As for the price, I never found out an exact one. But similar'ish electronic toys were around $30 at the time. so about $120 today.
like a few other commenters, I had this when I was a kid and played it for hours and hours. The only problem with it was that it was pretty simple. It would have been great if they lied other than... the fingerprints, was it? Anyway, when playing two player we would observe what the other player was asking and then deduce from there. For example, if the opposent asked the gender question, I wouldn't, but I'd wait to see who he asked next. Brilliant. I miss this a lot. Thanks for the reminder of my youth.
I had this back in the 80s. Mine had Don Adams (from Get Smart) on the cover & it came with one of those non-rigid 45s (the type that looked like a thin sheet of plastic that could be rolled into a tube because it was so thin) with Don Adams narrating your way thru your first case. I remember playing it for hours on end. Thanks for the cool video. The box is in great shape! Actually, I'm not certain if it was Don Adams on the record, but he was used on the cover & in the TV commercials. Here is the audio I am talking about: ua-cam.com/video/RhlHIP0fBdU/v-deo.html
Oh wow, I didn't know about the audio directions. the copy I had didn't have it or any mention of it so I guess they music have added it in later. That's really cool.
this was awesome.. Not only info I wanted, but pleasantly presented, informative, useful. Good ratio of face time. No begging for like or subscribe, which is why he gets both
3:43 i'd like to point out suspect 15 you got in this runthrough is victim you did not wrote victim in who said what section on suspect 15 at the start of the game you cannot question the victim because victim is dead
With out the manual or those cards its not an easy game to understand as the LCD screen doesn't give you much. once you get a handle on it, you still need the cards but it becomes easier.
Great video on a game I would have loved in it’s day, really sophisticated for it’s time. I hate to be “this guy”… but I am, “gotten” & “fill out” are American English, the British English would be “obtained” or “received” depending on context & “Fill in” respectively. 😊
My English has been abused by decades of English and American TV and Movies. I'm also dyslexic so I tend to favour easier to write and spell words (you don't want too see my scripts). It's something that I'm working on.
I loved this game, hearing it start made my day thanks for the great memories

Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime... criminals!

The pesky murderer would have gotten away with it as well, if it wasn't for literally everyone snitching on him.

That's a shame, there is so little in the way of parts that I'm wondering if its something like the power wire came loose or something similar.

Quite decent for an early electronic game!
And it seems to be a single chip as well, it must have some simple logic to decide who, where and what which could be fun to work out.
Yeah, they must have had a really good algorithm to fit that into such a small memory for that time.
how do i get out of the european, uk, aussie voiced channels algo? im trying to get back to usa accent vintage channels
