Small point of clarification. The steel plates for the Wearside shipyards did not come from Teesside. The majortiy, if not all, came from Consett Hownsgill plate mill.
I love the Steam Age in Britain. It is sad that the Steam Age came to an end in the 1960s as it was anticipated that mainline steam would have continued to see operations until as late as the 1990s and the very latest at the 2000s.
