Not really as Mort is far more conditional than a AoL. AoL prevents all forms of AoE and shuts down the entire team while Mort needs to counter and that chance can be 0% or 100% depending on your luck. Not to mention that he also disables your own team from counterattacking.

Overall he still seems insane, and this change won't impact his placement on the fully decked selector cause he just seems that good, so i hope this can ease your worries and regrets about pulling him, unless they change him again, the current planned buff for him is still looking phenomenal.
Theoretically, this would be a significant buff from a single skill nullifier. If it’s based off of his HP, and you want him to have super high HP, the barrier should be on par with the likes of Brieg, BMH, and DBS. As many others have stated, it would enable shield killers and barrier inversion, but assuming you have other high hp units, they could potentially live. Another reason is simply because Mort would likely be no faster than 200-230 speed if that, so a single skill null every 3rd turn would be pretty few and far between.

It was literally a month before the patch and they always specify that things are subject to change, plus there were what, 2 additional max selectors yet to be unlockable up for grabs when this patch was annouced? I think asking for a compensation is kinda strange. The max out ticket is a gift in the first place and it's not like maxing out units is impossible without it. If someone used the ticket on Mort, they can just max out whichever other unit they wanted to choose with the material they saved.
This is why i didn't immediately use my deck out ticket on mort and instead opted to get him from th selective summon 2 since that can be save for a longer time than the tickets.
I think Smilegate needs to count all their eggs before releasing any statement that can cause players to use their selectors based on kits. Yes we do complain a lot for compensation, but this is a "Cause & Effect" situation. Character buffs is extremely vital to players and changing it on a whim after what we seen is demoralizing. Mort is literally the equivalent of The Dragon Rulers from Yugioh. Konami is so scared of them that they would much rather bring them back to... somewhat full strength rather than just letting us have them back at full power so we can actually enjoy them. i thik 2 possible scenario for where mort will be broken with skill null 1. to counter lermia despite lermia is counter to counter. skill null can nullified lermia s3 after proc (ye i know skill null only once per 3 turn, its still kinda anoying imo and u cant open invisible unit with her) 2. with skill null u need 3 aoe to kill stene if first aoe not killing her (where usually u only need 2 aoe)

What most likely happened, at one of the quality assurance stages they discovered undesirable or unintended consequences. Their vague explanation means it is not our concern what specifically happened there. Skill null would be pretty good in that case, but barrier wouldn’t be that far behind. Let’s also assume when candy S1’s she gets a dual attack, that barrier will save you a lot more damage than the skill null.

Let’s be realistic though, what is Aelena actually doing? Her passive can be removed, she’s squishy, her damage is significantly lower than alternative cleave options, I’ve never seen her used in cleave in this meta, and her debuffs on her S3 are pretty useless. While I do think replacing ML5 unique mechanics with RGB units could be a significant detriment, reusing the same passive with tweaks of an irrelevant unit and giving it to an equally irrelevant, less niche unit, is not going to break the game. And mort is a lot more accessible, being an RGB and non-cleave oriented unit. Aside from that, there are way more toxic RGB units than Mort.

doesnt bunny dom give everyone skill null when an opponent does something. and can continue to be used. Angel of light also does the same on s3 if i recall, so why mort getting off-screened again.
Bunny dom gives skill null when Opponent uses Extra turn. AOLAngelica gives skill null when opponent uses aoe Mort straight gives skill null whenever his allies is attacked. So mort's skill null is basically a free skill null every 3 turn with no special mechanics.
I think one dev test mort and the whole team get fear 2 turn and after 2 turn of fear stun the team must deal with skill nul XD SO YOU LOSE more than 2 turn

They have been doing alot of bait and switch starting with Jenua earlier this year. I skipped Janua cause Pholitis initially didnt have enrage in her s3 but then they added that to her kit AFTER Janua's banner rotated out as a result I couldnt use the best team comp of Janua/Pholitis for 6 months. This "minor" nerf to Mort is quite significant imo. No skill null means you can die to more bullshit from the opposing team. If they keep doing bait and switches like these the community will keep losing faith in the company. Its not the nerf that people are complaining about its the fact that SG keeps doing this shady tactic ever since that netmarble ex-employee got hired earlier this year. Skill null is too much while having immunity to stun sleep and fear.

doesnt bunny dom give everyone skill null when an opponent does something. and can continue to be used. Angel of light also does the same on s3 if i recall, so why mort getting off-screened again.

Mort straight gives skill null whenever his allies is attacked.
So mort's skill null is basically a free skill null every 3 turn with no special mechanics.
I think one dev test mort and the whole team get fear 2 turn and after 2 turn of fear stun the team must deal with skill nul XD SO YOU LOSE more than 2 turn
Good change, they could have taken that out entirely and the kit would still have been solid. Skill Nullifier would have been very annoying. Good try, but not gonna happen and not really deserved in this case. There's no way you got him BECAUSE of the Skill Nullifier and that was it. The main gem of the kit is his Counter counter. You picked what is currently slated to be a very solid unit. Unless they change the Counter block, then we can reasonably start complaining. Don't be upset about your choice.
As for why it was changed, probably to not make him not only block Counters, but also basically block a unit like Lionheart Cermia from getting to do her AoE when he triggers his passive. Which he will still affect with the Barrier of course.
We have to stop crying about things like this, if not, they are going to be even more afraid of doing changes than what they are.
Honestly bad change. Mort is already super conditional on top of disabling any form of counterattack even your own team. Saying it would be toxic is kinda miss for me especially when AoL exists.
Then we have so many openers with buff block silence combo or buff block seal combo etc. like if they actually think mort was to strong they are smoking some hard crack.
In the grand scheme of things is this a big deal? No since his buff is still quite impactful. But in saying that it's really the selector tickets where I kinda get some people's annoyance. Especially with the time limit of the selector tickets that was mentioned in the vid. Ultimately the patch is still a pretty great one overall(even still for Mort), although SG could have easily avoided any problems by making it a barrier for his buff in the first place.

It’s called beta testing, Conner. They implemented the changes to test them out and found the Skill Nullifier was too strong. Also. The Fear is more like Freeze or Sleep than Confusion from Pokemon.

The ticket didn't really have a solid choicye besides 3 units so using one on mort who already is kinda solid when he decides to work isn't bad and technically it isnt a bait and swich since only one thing got changed

Overall i think they need player testers that could test a paych before on it goes live cause its odvious they dont play there own game and jusy cook up kits and don't test them thouhly and just auto play scenarios

They have been doing alot of bait and switch starting with Jenua earlier this year. I skipped Janua cause Pholitis initially didnt have enrage in her s3 but then they added that to her kit AFTER Janua's banner rotated out as a result I couldnt use the best team comp of Janua/Pholitis for 6 months. This "minor" nerf to Mort is quite significant imo. No skill null means you can die to more bullshit from the opposing team. If they keep doing bait and switches like these the community will keep losing faith in the company. Its not the nerf that people are complaining about its the fact that SG keeps doing this shady tactic ever since that netmarble ex-employee got hired earlier this year. They are quickly creating a negative stigma for themselves and if it persists, the playerbase won't trust sgate ever again and more and more will just leave and quit the game for good.
