I'm an eye surgeon.. Nobody is talking about side effects.. Apart from short term effects like headache, redness in eyes, difficulty seeing in dim light conditions, it has serious adverse effects in Long term.. It can cause retinal detachment, non dilating pupils which can cause complications at time of cataeact surgery and many more

Every action has equal and opposite reaction. Being a doctor I can say pilocarpine is not a new or magic drug. It's been used a lot before. later discontinued due to its side effects. Pilocarpine reduces pupil size which may improve near vision slightly . But on the flip side, when pupil constricts, it reduces the amount of light entering the retina. This can cause dangerous effects, like the person may not see anything or become blind in low light conditions for example driving car or bike at night time. Other effects include sweating flushing weakness and dizziness. Pharma companies try to advertise each drug they have as if it's a magic pill. But overall this medicine is nothing miraculous.

Indeed, pilocarpine is not new. We have been using pilocarpine as a glaucoma treatment for decades. Yes the pin hole effect gives some relief to the presbyopes but its long term use may cause sphincter and dilator pupillae muscle dysfunction. And patients may feel dissatisfaction regarding the quality of vision after using this drug ,as the presbyopic power depends on age(amplitude of accommodation)and the power increases till 55-60 years.

Probably the company ENTOD is using small amount around 0.5% pilocarpine molecules in their eye drop PresVu. Pilocarpine molecules has been in used for many decades. Similar eye drops are manufactured by various companies in US for many years and only one has got USFDA approval so far. The drop creates a pinhole effect means reducing the pupil size of the eye to improve the near and far vision. And it’s not a permanent solution, the effect of drops is for a few hours to a half day, hence a person needs to use this drop on a regular basis. Also the long term side effects in existing similar drops are under studies and so far not acclaimed as an effective solution for presbyopia.

It may not be presbyopia. It may be accommodation insufficiency/convergence insufficiency. Better you
get optometry/ophthalmology checkup
