When I look at the statues it seems very apparent that they are not in their original positions. It literally looks like the topography changed at some poin in the islands history moving some of them many feet and others didn't move they just got covered up. It reminds me of melting ice cream because it couldn't have been lava. 😅 But just like lavait moved the statues in some cases and flowed around the others. If you look at their current resting places you can see that some were barely moved from where they were sitting and just tipped overas the land slid into them and others were slid farther from where they originally had been. I know that they have a body beneath the soil. If we were to dig down to the very base of the statues we would findwhat used to be level ground and in doing so I believe we could find pottery , perhaps offerings at their feet, plant life that used to grow maybe even homes that were covered in a massive landslide! ❤

There is a large fresh water lake in the volcanic crater so unless there was a drought I highly doubt it would’ve been necessary
