- Talk’s Kevin O’Sullivan is joined by political and social commentator James Melville to discuss Rishi Sunak’s visit to Austria.
The Prime Minister met with his Austrian counterpart to agree that schemes like the UK’s Rwanda plan are needed to tackle illegal migration into Europe.
Mr Sunak said the UK was “leading the charge with partners across the continent to meet the challenges caused by intolerable levels of illegal migration”.
James tells Kevin that Mr Sunak is “out of touch” for claiming the country is tackling immigration, adding that “the figures have gone up under his watch”.

So he has decided to take more illegals from Ireland as he does from France? But what I don't understand is we are just one more safe country of the many travelled through, and not always the final destination just one more bit of land to travel across, we are on high alert because of a possible terrorist threat "Deemed Unsafe" and a racist country to boot, only attracting the intolerant and easily offended? In 1994 having recently bought my own property in a quiet backwater of Croydon, work took me to Hong Kong for five years. I returned in 1999 to the same property which was now situated in an area I barely recognised as a direct result of the immigration into it in the intervening period. Seeing what was happening to the place we moved out to Rainham Kent, a small town on the edge of the countryside. Fast forward to the present day and now this town is well on the way to becoming what we chose to leave behind so now in all likelihood we will sell up and go back overseas taking all we have acquired with us.

Be fair! Rishi has already sent one guy to Rwanda, so the die has definitely been cast! No less than 15 EU countries are planning to follow Britain's lead, so Rwanda will soon get 15 more migrants from the EU, each with a euro-equivalent handout of 3000 quid. What's not to like???

Far, far away, from these shores. You would need one ship docked at St Helena, one, docked at Portsmouth. When the UK one is full, you sail to the island. and, vice -versa. MY plan is CHEAPER, more viable and would WORK. It's OUR Crown dependencies, so the ECHR can keep their un-wanted NEBS, out! All i want, is credit, for the idea.
