@@MrTherandomguy42 Actually it did come to the US it's currently getting updates. But essentially there's alternate worlds that usually run parallel but sometimes intersect with one another. Galdera is a consistent entity throughout those worlds and thanks to Lyblac a part of it was able to survive and Corrupt Pardis the emperor of Osterra. That's why his final boss fight looks like a weakened version of Galdera. Galdera can never be destroyed truly as long as existence is present. With 6 million HP and he seems to halve all damage, I would normally hit for 50k or more with fully boosted Aeber's Reckoning but I barely top 20k on him, I'm seriously considering if I want to do this fight again after beating him in the first game.
@@rivlasdezerai First phase has like 500k, but the second has much less in exchange for getting a ton of turns and hitting way harder. The fight really forces you to focus on getting as many relevant buffs and defense drops as possible imo. I had around 800 physical atk and 700 speed on Throné and still was hitting for around 20k without any buffs. With speed, and physical attack buffs, physical defense drop and guaranteed crit on the eye I could work it up to around 80k.
Came here right after just defeating Galdera myself, he was close to death and all my members were down except Hikari who was on half health and my ONLY choice was to use Lionheart's Axe with only 1 BP, otherwise it was actually game over that turn... It killed him 😓😓😓
the more times I fight this thing the more I learn to adapt. Like turning Ochette into a thief and getting her to use Aeber's reckoning alongside Throne for the first phase to get it over with quicker.
Thanks SE, for giving us such a useful item, at such a useless time by forcing us to fight the dirtiest and most ridiculously overpowered boss in all rpg history... TWICE!
I've just beaten him, with characters around level 60-65. There is a way to seriously cheese one of the two parts, so if you're having trouble, here's a (not so) cheap trick! Again, it only works for one of the two parts 'cause you need a specific character there, so the other part, you're on your own! :p Personally, I used it on Part 2, because it's the hardest! What you need is 1- have Partitio in your party (and it doesn't work with anyone else, you can't just give the Merchant subclass to a character) and 2- have A LOT of money! Like, I had about 1,500,000 leaves and it was barely enough to cover the fight; I did rely on luck a little bit! If you can, get even more than that! Two, three, maybe four times more! You also need a heavy hitter or two: The quicker you can end the fight the better, obviously, and the least amount of money you'll need! Anyway, the point is you need to rely on the Negotiate Schedule skill. It's a skill that is absolutely unique to Partitio, and it allows you, as the description says, to act during your opponent's turn! What this doesn't tell you is that it also take away the opponent's turn!!! So when it's Partitio's turn, look at which body part of Galdera is next in line, use Negotiate Schedule on it, and there you go: That body part lost its turn, and you just gained another one! One that you can use to rinse and repeat the process until the fight is over!!! There's a few flaws with that trick: Firstly, you can't use Negotiate Schedule on the main body part until everything else is gone! So that body part still gets its turns. When the rest of its body parts are gone, though, you can use it. Flaw number 2: Like I said, this ability costs A LOT of money! Not only that, using it on the same enemy over and over, the cost keeps going up! So you have to make sure that you have enough cash on hand to use that ability AND that you have a lot of damage output so that you can finish the fight quickly; otherwise you'll run out! So, yeah, it's not without risks, but it's still a very cheesy way to finish him off with little effort! If you're having trouble against Galdera, consider the Negotiate Schedule skill: It's a game changer!
I see, so it's not the same world at all. The world Al (and therefore the first game's protagonists) hail from is parallel to this one. Same gods, different lore behind them, amongst other things.
I think it is a bit too early to say that. We do know that there are lands outside of Solistia that no one dares journey to, as is said in the Mercantile Manuscript. And all Al said here was that he wants to "return home". Not specifically another world, right?
@@dee6561 if that was the case, they didn't need him to make an exit like he did, as if he was from another plane of existence or some god that can magically and easily peace out whenever he wanted.
@@TheElementsAreWithMe As far as I understand he isn't supposed to even be alive in this game, so it could be that he got resurrected to track down Galdera in Solista, or his death could have been faked, or he could have travelled through time. There's a lot of potential options that explain this.
@@boianko you maybe on to something. That would also explain how beating him this time much harder. I mean in the first game he was able to comeback due to his daughter, and yet here without her he's stronger now. Gameplay wise this would make sense, Storywise, not so much.
I am wondering if Octopath Traveler 2 is a prequel to 1. Also I noticed Octopath Traveler 1 takes place in Osterra, while Octopath Traveler 2 take place in Solistia. Which is two completely different areas. But on the map, you can kind of see there is areas of land that is gigantic, but not marked or not accessible on the map. Odd part too, is that in Solistia, they talk about Vide everywhere. But in Osterra, they talk about Galdera everywhere.
@@Doors067 ^This. Octopath 1 literally states in Alfyn's chapter that the world is barely modernized, while we already have straight up steam engines in Octopath 2.
@@Doors067 I was just curious since the King Of Hornberg still looked young in Octopath Traveler 2, or was it just his spirit or something? Cause wasnt Alfred Hornberg the King that Olberic served before that tragedy happened to him?
@@Doors067 True, but also, there are hints that Solistia is deeply isolated from the rest of the world. Compared to his first appearance, this is very different and significantly more difficult, they originally intended this to be a superboss in the first game but failed at it as the games balancing was very questionable, now this is legitimately difficult as hell, really puts your skills to the test.

Now how do people manage to get multiple characters having the same subjob? I try to get like 3 travelers with the Cleric subjob but they only allow me to switch jobs. Its driving me nuts😥
What i find interesting is that this Alfred Hornburg was the last king of Hornburg in OT1 that was announced dead. Now heres the juicy part, Alfred wear a similar outfit that resembles to a Gryphon knight in final fantasy tactics and the only Gryphon knight that stands out in FFT was Beowulf Cadmus. Could this be that Beowulf Cadmus was the actual second prince of Bernstein?
There's a Cleric in Canalbrine's church. Beat her in a Challenge to get Divine Protection. It's actually a fairly easy fight if you equip Hikari with the accessories that grant major resistance to Holy and Lightning damage. The Cleric only attacks with spells, so if you have those two resistances, she'll never beat you.
First phase was definitely ramped up from the last game. A little disappointed in the second phase because I was so paranoid about everything and then I used one One True Magic III on the main body for 120,000 and the battle ended really quickly. Also really angry that after I learned about the ochette provoke beast glitch I ended up fighting galdera again and beating him on my first try. Do NOT underestimate the provoke beast glitch

Right stats, shit ton of luck (mostly RNG), right equiment to the right character, you can actually do great damage to the super boss, is it hard? fuck yes (my ass got beat assuming I can handle his ass after completing most of the travlers stories) there are certain beasts thay ochette can get to defeat the spirits/wraiths, and if lucky get the king cait, since their healing can save your ass for a clutch moments, as the video shows cleric divine skill PLEASE abuse it saves you from most of phase 1 punishment or if you need boost at the start get most of the characters equip with the inventor skill a step ahead for a quick boost or quick damage It get deeper but do try to get most characters turn such as throne latent power, Aeflic blessing, etc
I got there a week ago, I tried idk 15 times? I get a little farther each time with new strategies and things but like I think I will give up. Its like 20+ minutes each try and 1 mistake(or bad rng) costing me the whole run is just pretty meh. I dont really want to cheese them. I want to beat them with the characters I built. Its just not enough I get to the head at phase 2, he gets 28483⁷ turns in a row and I cant find a solution to break and deal enough damage to them.

@AlexLun yes, but the most important change is that it now spawn with 3 arms at once, and they all reflect damage that isn't super effective against it. Also, the arms change weaknesses mid fight sometimes, which makes it really hard to always target them. If you don't destroy them at the same time, they regenerate instantly. 60k health back up just like that. Unfortunately that game never reached the US. Would you mind providing context why it makes sense in relation to that game?
@@MrTherandomguy42 It reached the US a while ago
@@MrTherandomguy42 Actually it did come to the US it's currently getting updates. But essentially there's alternate worlds that usually run parallel but sometimes intersect with one another. Galdera is a consistent entity throughout those worlds and thanks to Lyblac a part of it was able to survive and Corrupt Pardis the emperor of Osterra. That's why his final boss fight looks like a weakened version of Galdera. Galdera can never be destroyed truly as long as existence is present. Ironically the one thing that could kill Galdera would be Vide since it brings Oblivion.
Then there's the bestower story arcs with Sanzantos but that hasn't been localized yet but essentially Lyblac is not the only descendant of one of the 13 gods.

With speed, and physical attack buffs, physical defense drop and guaranteed crit on the eye I could work it up to around 80k.

the more times I fight this thing the more I learn to adapt.
Make one wonder if we'll get world-crossings in OT3 (if they make one).
Bro octopath 2 had the steam engine and octopath one says medicine was in its infancy. 1 clearly came many centuries earlier
@@TheMixedPlateFrequency haven't gotten that far/sidequest
@@Doors067 True, but also, there are hints that Solistia is deeply isolated from the rest of the world. Which, in turns, also means that the rest of the world (including Osterra) is also isolated from Solistia. It could really just be that Solistia is more technologically advanced than the rest of the world.
Compared to his first appearance, this is very different and significantly more difficult, they originally intended this to be a superboss in the first game but failed at it as the games balancing was very questionable, now this is legitimately difficult as hell, really puts your skills to the test.

Who did you challenge in order to get Divine protection on Hikari?
There's a Cleric in Canalbrine's church. Beat her in a Challenge to get Divine Protection.
It's actually a fairly easy fight if you equip Hikari with the accessories that grant major resistance to Holy and Lightning damage. The Cleric only attacks with spells, so if you have those two resistances, she'll never beat you.

Please tell me that they didn't bring the same BS approach where you have to fight all the bosses before with no save in between!

You walk through the same room that had the boss rush in it in 1, but there are no bosses to fight, and there's like a total of 1 minute of cutscene the entire time inside the Gate of Finis. There's even a save point inside, AND if you find you're getting your shit rocked, like I just did, you can casually walk right back out and go back to grinding/finding better gear.

If you don't destroy them at the same time, they regenerate instantly. 60k health back up just like that. Lousy performance on the second phase. Its all about shield breaking. Much easier with three merchants and Ochette
I mean, who's breaking shields in phase 1 then? Especially when you have to kill all souls at once to even get to deal damage to the eye's massive hp pool in the first place. In phase 2 you just want to deal as much damage as possible since the bs eye for an eye mechanic isn't there.
