That course looks so much pushier than other slalom courses. I'd be interested to hear what slalom boaters thought of how the Ocoee compared with other courses.
Depends on the course. Most slalom courses on the international circuit now generally have a flow rate ranging between 500-600 cfs, and oftentimes on channels narrow enough that they are more comparable to a creek instead of a river. The Upper Ocoee usually has a flow rate between 1400-1600 cfs during a release, but is also at least twice as wide, if not wider, as most slalom courses now. I was out on the Olympic section in my 3.5m race boat earlier today, my first time there. At 1500 cfs, compared to other slalom courses, the water certainly felt more pushy, but I also suspect much of that feeling was born from ferrying back and forth everywhere trying to catch as many eddies as I could in one go. I would almost need a full course of gates and sequences to run there in order to give better insight.
