I find western riding more cool/badass than than the elegance of english (though I ride in that style, and there's cross country in it and that's the most badass you can be in english), but there's also some things that make western just not the one I'd like to do for some reason. But this really makes a reason to love western🤠
It’s pretty neat and scary. Most of these horses have shoes on and one day someone is going to fall and hurt themselves really bad on a wooden obstacle. Also some of the spacing is really close. While some aspects are dangerous I like that they are not doing the peanut rolling lope and the horrible trot. Much rather see this than any western pleasure show.
Safety is definitely important and if you make your horse fall on an obstacle it will definitely negatively impact your score or potentially even eliminate you
Its just working eq. In a western saddle. Also until they require helmets I wont consider it the best anything. Also not considering the jump spacing is stupid dangerous a horse could get seriously injured if they are placed too close.
I loved the EXCA video those horses and riders are incredible. Those youth riders are really great the girl on that buckskin horse was incredible.

Working equitation is the same obstacles.... it's not the same variety. They also dont require helmets... which I agree Helmets are important
As a rider that competes in both this is very very different than working eq.
Don’t like the bit. Pain was used to get the horse to cross walk the horse.
