Its slow eradication is why I just bought a bunch of Blu-rays this past month. The pick I’m looking forward to watching the most is Akira in 4K. It’ll be my first time watching it in full.
Call you a dinosaur? mate phisical media has been around since the 80's it's only dying off because "people want it to be all streaming" which i fully dissagree with, phicical media is better since it gives you more options. Like for example if you wifi is down you can still watch it.
Not in my household but I think the large studios have a lot to do with cash grabs and ripping off collectors. I buy a lot from the boutique labels which for the most part are very reasonable. The large studio releases seem to be hiking up prices and their transfers are pretty shoddy in a lot of instances. There are a lot of hands on directors are very meticulous about the transfers and their movies will stand the test of time. James Cameron for all the time it's taken him has apparently (not seen any) made an arse of his recent transfers. I'm fuming Aliens is the theatrical cut on the 4k. This was great Barry, when I'm explaining the difference between Blu-ray and 4k and how it's not as simple as 4k is better, I show folk a movie vault video I forget the name of.
Because some people want their music to have good quality and not sound like trash. The majority is still happy with their heavily compressed, lossy streaming crap they "listen" to over either crappy ear buds or cheap speakers while they do 20 other tasks and "watch" tv at the same time 🤣
I'm surprised and kind of curious why you guys so rarely buy dvd's? I have so many movies in my collection that aren't available on blu ray or 4k. I couldn't imagine not having hundreds of my favourite movies simply because they're on dvd.
This has made me start my physical media collection. Great video guys
Fascinating discussion.
Great stream. Your Enthusiasm and happy nostalgic memories really shine through. Thanks for doing this gentlemen.

Yeah, love my physical media 😊... Call me a dinosaur

I do the same when comparing, Jordan. 😂
Why is vinyl records doing so well when you've got all the music streaming channels. This is what I can't get my head round
That's a good point we didn't discuss. Vinyl. Hopefully there's a resurgence of film like there is physical music.

If a movie isn't available on Blu-ray or 4k, I'll certainly buy the dvd. But that's a rare occurrence.
