Love that photo, it sums up Roy's' attitude to playing......I'm the baddest and this is why!!
Little Jazz & Flipenstein!
Damn....this good stuff!!!
piet stok, great musici and that nearly 70 years ago, what
a discipline !!
So good,i cant speak.
Flip, one of the most underated musicians of any category of music. Saw him in 1972 in Chicago, no honking, just pure beautiful ballads. Personally, as a gay guy married for 16 years to guy a WWII veteran 38 years my senior, I could have easily, well no need to go further.
This was on the album WNEW saturdaynight swing session,i think.great players
Timeless!
ty zz !!!!
WoW!
Snygga övergångar
Great! Ooh born too late.
I used to have this on an album as a teen in the early 1970s. Flip and Roy made up side 1. They did a funny version of Honeysuckle Rose on that album, too. But I don't think the Tenor Player in the picture is Flip. Too Tall. (smile)
Philip Voerding was the album called Jazz off the air?
No. It had a different title. Saturday Night Swing Session, of something like that.
WNEW, SEING SESSION, had flip, fat girl, chubby, i also had that album in tge 1970's... im not sure if that is flip, so you may be right.
Agreed.
@@haihechina In the UK the Flip and Roy session was coupled with a Charlie Ventura/Alan Eager/Fats Navarro session, one from April 1947 and the other from May 1947. I think the photo is of Flip - looks like one of the JATP shots. To me Roy was the epitome of jazz, always put 100% into everything he did, even when into old age on the Pablo sessions
