  • A tidy up of my lemon and lime potted trees.
I show you some handywork I had completed last year to make life a little more maintenance free.
I am a small scale gardener , worm farmer and I enjoy my gardening in our challenging weather here in Western Australia. My videos may include some drone footage along with other things I may want to show and with my long form videos in the garden will be Blinky Bill, my little koala buddy popping up somewhere in my videos. See if you can spot him. I hope you will stay a while and watch.
I think these are really good quality products that they sell and I have been purchasing.

Hello Linda, my tahitian lime seems to have these spikey thorns on them ,ouch 😂Moggy aka Little Jay is getting on a bit so we thought easy entrance in and out of the yard would be better for her. She will be 15 years old soon but still looks young. Bless her. thanks for watching and your comment. Very much appreciated.🦘🍋🐈🥰😀Cheryl

Hi Cher, I'm sure thinning the fruit will help. You made me want a lime tree to keep my Meyer lemon company! Nice to see your garden thriving.

I hope I will get more fruit this year. I am glad the weather is not as hot and it gives everything a chance to recoup. My lime and lemon trees are only dwarf varieties so good to have mine in pots.😀🍋🤗Cheryl

Good morning, Cheryl, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA
Nice pruning job 👍 I'm not the best at deciding which to trim so I admire your skill.
I hope your heat breaks soon.

Thankyou Peggy. the last few days have been cool since I filmed that video. Our season where I live can change , just like that. I am already preparing the garden for the cooler months. April and May are such beautiful beautiful times of the year, still, nice days and get that slightest chill in the evening. Might be more drone weather too. 🦘💖🍋🥰Cheryl

A bit of work went into it. But I was determined to do something someday there so I did.😂 Thanks for that info Rick. I hope this year I might get more fruit and a little bigger. I don't like paying 80c - $1 for 1 lemon or lime.🍋🙏😀Cheryl

I can trim the limbs that have not done well, your better than me to be able to pop off a the small bud's, i just can't do it😢.
Chicken manure is very good stuff for everything.
Pea river gravel is a great thing to have down, with the mat down very little will get thru it.
The 2nd star of the show appeared at 5:59 in his normal fashion, in plain site camouflagedwith the surrounding's.
Did Blinky Bill vanish from his hiding spot?
Lemon and limes, i can just eat them sliced up and they are wonderful. If i had any they probably wouldn't make it inside before I ate them.
Thanks for the tour of the two trees and zucchini and pumpkin, they looked so well to come thru the weather there.
As your season is going around a corner, mine is too, i planted red potatoes, sweet potatoes, yellow and purple onions and elephant garlic, today was a good day to plant root crop's according to the Farmers Almanac here. Total dark 🌑 of the Moon here today. That big rock up in the sky, i try to plant by it on everything.
Thanks for the tour again 🎉

Aldi usually have it every 6 months and I buy a tub. My garden really comes to life when I spread some around.
Blinky appears then disappears, you have to be quick to spot him otherwise he is gonsky.
Do you mean an eclipse there today?
I love citrus foods - lime or lemon icing- drinks- foods.
I am glad you enjoyed my video. I am trying to bank some vidoes as I will be going back to work this week and will not have time to do any so I have been busy the last week so will have some to upload. 🥰🍋😂🦘🤗Cheryl

Eclipse is a month out. Just the dark of the Moon every month. I use the farmers almanac here to plant by, this is for the next 2 days.
      Gardening by the Moon - March 10th, 2024 to March 11th, 2024
Cultivate and spray, do general farm work, but no planting.
I try to plant above the ground and below the ground by it. There's days for vine crop's, seed inside or outside the vegetables.
Cheryl, "take care of yourself first, because no one else will."
      I thought Blinky Bill disappeared.
I've said that a million times to people making a small or large decision.

    Hi cheryl
We bought a lemon tree about 2 years ago it had a lemon on when we bought it and its never fruited since 😂
We are in the UK though 😂
    We keep trying !!
We did have scales bad on the plant though and thought it had killed it off so stripped it back and put it outside the and honestly it bounced back.
Fingers crossed for this year see how it does.
    Thanks Tracey

Usually about from 3 years onwards they start to really bear more fruit. Fingers crossed as my lemon will be and for the lime well that is 4 years old now. I like them in pots so I can move them around according to the season. Thanks for watching a n d sharing your experience. 🤗🦘🍋🥰😀Cheryl

And when I do I wake up during the night and get excited and my thoughts start from there. O now I am contemplating do the back yard., Ive already woken at 1am for hours thinking of things. hahaha

I’m in Adelaide and we have hot summers here as well (heat wave here in Autumn 38oC today)😅. I have a lemon and lime in pots which don’t do very well, so this year I put flowers in terracotta pots around on the surface and they have acted like a mulch keeping the moisture in, now I have about 10 lemons coming and a number of limes have set. I fertilise with worm castings and chicken pellets, perhaps this is something you might like to do. Also it looks really pretty with the flowers but they don’t take all the nutrients 😊

    • @downundervlogs
      @downundervlogs  6 місяців тому +2

I hope our weather has turned a corner, it has been cooler for the last week so far. That sounds like a really great way to help keep the moisture in the top of the pots. Plus you have plenty of lemons coming along. Lucky you, I hope they all grow nice and big and juicy. I will keep that in mind to plant some flowers in little pots too. Thanks for sharing with us. 👍🦘🍋🥰🤗Cheryl

How long does it take a lemon tree to grow?

    • @downundervlogs
      @downundervlogs  6 місяців тому +2

I got 1 lemon on it when I first got it 2 years ago. It generally takes about 3 years for it to start to fruit regularly. Hopefully this year it will. Mine is a dwarf lemon and keeping it in a pot I can move them around during each season to maximise the sunlight. Thanks for you question AJ.🍋🙏😀Cheryl
