- This is a drum tutorial for Fall Out Boy's song, Sugar We're Goin Down. There are some cool fills and some kick drum patterns that might be a little challenging, but start it out slow and work your way up to speed!

I started learning this a couple months back and have been improving so much every day doing it I can’t believe how much one year of drumming is doing for me !
im forever grateful to you and this video.
who knew that kid 5 years ago trying to learn something as simple as this would play along gigs and on the spot fill-ins
That is so awesome! I’m glad to be a part of your drumming journey and I’m super impressed you’ve stuck with it and improved so much! Love it 🥁🔥🥁
Man, you are my favourite instructor here. You have a real knack for breaking down thing simply and clearly. Every time I need to learn a cover, I either end up on your channel or DrumsTheWord’s 😊
Exactly!! Thanks Matt. I couldn’t have said it better. Everlong break down as another example
thank you! I started this song with my drum teacher and we ended up doing a simplified version and left it at that for another song. I’ve been wanted to actually learn it properly for a while now.
No problem! It’s definitely sometimes best to have two bites at it - start out with a simple version and then come back and smash it a few months later! Have fun!!!
Sounds great, this is a song I've wanted to learn for a while
this tutorial subliminally made me understand how to play quarter notes on hi hat, when i literally could not get myself to before
Than you for such an incredibly succinct, detailed, and accurate tutorial. You didn't waste a single second of time! Amazing!
Your tutorials have helped me to improve my drumming skills so much. Thanks a lot.

can I use the slide technique for the bass drum? (the one where we slide from left to right part of the pedal, a bit like Cobus often does)
+Angela “føbphøenix” l Yep absolutely! I think that kind of technique is great cos it targets different muscles so you don't get as tired, but just make sure you're using your energy efficiently and not sliding all over the place 😂
Okay, ☺ thanks a lot!

Why can guitar lessons be like this
I've seen some of your tutorials, and it's kind of hard to follow along because you rush everything and don't break it down. I know you have said that if you go slower, the videos drag on, but I take it your doing for other people and not yourself, so I would not worry about it being long. Just some constructive criticism because I (as well as other people I know) get frustrated because you seem to not take beginners into consideration.
I hear ya! I guess I always feel that the pause and rewind buttons are your best friend with my videos. Pause it where the notation is, have a go at playing, then rewind and listen to how I play it. I try to play most of the complex bits slow and then fast but there is definitely a bunch of assumed knowledge to learning these songs. Thanks for the feedback though, keep up the practice and it'll all come together!
