    This is beautiful. I have a subaru Impreza 2007 and I'm wanting to convert it to off road. Theres something about modern sedans that are off road that look stunning to me and I'm not much of a car guy.

    I have been trying to think of a way to help with that sag in the rear. My plan is to use taller and harder springs in the back if I can find some.

    • @dannyk3884
      @dannyk3884 3 роки тому +2

      king springs makes some that are taller and stiffer, others might as well

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  3 роки тому +2

      Yup, as Danny mentioned - I'm considering going with Kings springs at the rear until I fully commit to an actual lift kit

    Hey, just picked up an '07 and I've been devouring your killer content. Mine's not a turbo but in really great shape with only 86k. Fully stock atm but...I've got a vision. There's still a chance I might only keep it for a year or two so I may not do anything drastic just yet, which leads me to:
    What tires do you think you'd go with if you wanted to beef it up for light off roading/better looks as much as possible without getting into lifts or spacers/other mods?

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Jupiter!
      Welcome to the subie fam and glad to be able to help you!
      If you're looking for tires that are more daily drivable (less noise, more comfortable, etc) then I would 100% recommend the Toyo Open countries. Lots on the subaru forums recommend these for casual offroading and still looking great (without the crazy "battle wagon look) As for the size, I'd try to get them the same size as your OEM tires (215/60/16). That way you wouldn't need to get a lift or spacers at all

    • @jupiterregional8326
      @jupiterregional8326 2 роки тому

      @@davechangauto Awesome, thanks for the tips and warm welcome! I have no objections to the "battle-wagon" look myself - I'm pretty into it, crazier the better tbh - just not plunging in headlong riiiight away...kinda like dating vs. moving in together haha.
      Yours is a great example to me of what I'm aiming for - getting it brawnier & adding utility while still keeping it sharp and refined. Bravo!

    I want these wheels 15x7 but I don’t know what back spacing to get. I’ll be putting 235/75/15 on a 2.5” lifted 07 forester

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  Рік тому +1

      Hmm, unfort I'm not familiar with 15x7 specs. Will you be running spacers?
      I believe there's another red Forester on youtube that was running the 15x7 with spacers as well.

  • @oliparton375
    @oliparton375 Рік тому +1

    How come you didn’t do for a negative offset wheel to clear the brakes rather then add a spacer?

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  Рік тому +2

      It was a mistake on my end - I thought the rims would fit my XT brakes
      Lesson learned!

    Hey man I was just wondering what lug nuts you ended up using? did you use the recommended 45°conical lugs? Also how does that ride on the highway I've heard the Bassett wheels can shake pretty bad

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 роки тому +1

      Yup, that's correct - the lugs I'm using have the 45 degree conical "lug centric" heads. I picked them off Amazon and I'll list below
      As for noise, it's pretty loud but it's expected from AT's
      As for vibration, it was pretty bad on highway speeds but it went away after I took it to a racing shop to rebalance and get a second opinion
      I heard some people get screwed with QC so I'd double check for any obvious defects as well

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 роки тому

      Unfort, I just checked and they're not on Amazon anymore unfort

    With a 2 inch lift, would I have to worry about any modifications with the same spec wheels and tires? I also have a 25mm wheel spacer.

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Ger, could you confirm what wheel/tire size you have? Or are they the same as mine (215/75/15)
      I had to punch the pinch welds at the front because of rubbing at full turn. There's still slight rubbing at full turn but nothing I'd be concerned about

    • @yaajmane
      @yaajmane 2 роки тому +1

      @@davechangauto I didn't get the any wheels and tires yet but I was just wondering if the same spec wheels and tires would work if I had a 2 inch lift including 25mm wheel spacers without any modifications like punching the welds in and fender cutting.

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Ger,
      Thanks for clarifying - you will definitely rub against the pinch welds with that tire size

    how have you found the mud performance of the gg atxs to be? been considering these tires, got a lot of mud where im at

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Danny,
      I've gone offroading/mudding a few times and it feels very confident (compared to my all seasons). The biggest difference is the rear end does not slide out in the mud.
      Unfortunately I don't have any other benchmark (these are my first set of all-terrains) but for the price, budget, and tread life - I would definitely recommend this. I'll try to get stuck in more aggressive mud and see how they perform

    Have you tried other a/t tires before?
    I'm currently using General Grabber At2 that will need replaced soon and trying to decide between Graber Atx, Toyo At3 and a couple others

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  3 роки тому

      Hey Ez E,
      Unfort these are my first experience with A/T tires - so far I've been satisfied especially with the price point
      I've heard that toyos and falkens generally have less road noise and a more "daily driver" approach
      Hoping this helps!

      I actually have the at2 on my Subaru as well and I needed to replace them all now. Turns out that the at2 tires are discontinued. So I just went with the atx now. just bought them yesterday and I went with the same tire because I really like how they handle in mud and snow.

    Hello! How are they on dry and wet pavement?

    • @davechangauto
      @davechangauto  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Patricio!
      The Grabbers are amazing on dry and wet pavement. Feels very confident with a considerable amount of road noise (as expected with most all terrains). I do also notice that the Grabbers have trouble with deep water at high speeds. They don't seem to be the best at digging water out and you may notice slight hydroplaning at highway speeds. No issues at lower speeds.
      Hoping that helps!
