The switch winners are............Oscar Graf, Nombredecorsario1, Korni and Heid Cam. Congratulations guys, I sent you guys a message, if you haven't received the message PM me.
I was looking to do the same instalation that you did and I came to re-check your video. Then I found out that I was " A winner " !!! Never got the message Albe . Do you still have the switch ?
a true Millyard moment at 5:17 )I was ready to hear "I m really pleased with that"!!) nice job by the way!! You thought of something better than the BMW engineers!
Hi. You could also use the auxiliary spare charging connector which is located on the bracket holding the battery. It switches of automatically 1 minute after ignition off. Unless you want to charge longer even with ignition off I think it is better option. Also no fuse needed!
The BMW product code of the connector which you need to buy is 83 30 0 413 585 (at least in the Netherlands) and I paid 13,60 EUR. They call the part "Reparaturstecker 3-polig" aka 3-pin repair connector.
Great solution! That's much better then the stock port that BMW put on the side of the key hole. I will try to do something like what you did on my f800. Thanks and greetings from Brazil (i do motovlog too).
TBH splicing, cutting wires or even fuse tapping turns me off on modding my car and bike. Manufacturers should put a couple of auxiliary power input on all bikes and cars. Its 2017 for christ's sake; it should come standard by now. New subber here BTW.
Can you explain why the USB plug alone drained the battery? Did you leave the phone plugged in? I did not think that the plug alone actually drew any power. By the way the two holes in the steering head into which you installed the switch are the two forward mounting points for the BMW tank bag..
The USB gizmo turns the 12v power from the battery to a voltage suited for a USB interface, like a phone or a GPS. It's not just direct wiring and that conversion uses power over time although now very much.
+Tanguy Inb the switch is wired directly into the battery, so anything you plug in it will charge independently if the bike is on or not, as long as the switch is on.
@@AlbesADV You could actually connect a relay to the cigarette lighter's auxiliary line, as it runs through can-bus. The relay would switch the usb charger along with the engine. This is the install that I am planning to do on my bike, I'll keep you posted if you want.
@@AlbesADV I just finished the mod with the relay and it works. Here is a link to a tutorial I made on it advrider.com/f/threads/more-amps-on-the-f800gs-auxiliary-socket-and-a-switched-usb-power-plug.1386120/ . Cheers!
Did you contemplate about doing the high fender mod or brake line crossover elimination mod? Would make a great video project . Check out advrider.com/index.php?threads/anyone-done-the-high-fender-mod-on-a-2013-800gs.1135720/page-4#post-32453136 for some inspiration :)

That looks Great!
I feel lazy for just using a battery buddy adapter. For other lazy riders it works great with no battery drain.
+Jack Petracci ahahah
Nice clean install. Good DYI video.

Great idea!! Greetings from Chile! Hope can win a switch! 😃
Great Albe, very neat!!
Thanks Albe. Another brilliant video. 😀
That is great fit!!!
+Ed DeBolt i had to search for it, but it was worth it.
Hi Albe, I liked this idea.. do you think is possible use this boton for auxiliar lights? I the original in BMW stores is to expensive..
I think it's very possible, you can use that for anything with an on-off switch
@@AlbesADV , thanks... haw can I buy it from Brazil?
Probably on Amazon Brasil
That's a great idea
Great work!

Show how to change the clutch microswitch
Sorry Rob, the f800gs is gone
Interesting video but is there a possibility that it starts charging when you put the bike on?
thx!
