We can't just share the wins with you. We have to show when we fail as well. In this video we tested the limits and tried something that we know had a low percentage chance of succeeding. Spraying dark pearls over a light base is a problem, and there doesn't look like too many ways around it. We show you the concept, the failure and the fix in this video. Enjoy and thanks so much for watching!

Tinted clear coat using Juice and Clear plasti dip!!!
Your content makes my crappy week so much better
You know what else would be an epic fix to a fail? Using my car as a demo car to dip in whatever random and crazy color combinations you and the other viewers can come up with.
I think you should try doing a two tone dip on this audi.. perhaps a red base with two different color shifts to separate the top from the bottom..
If only every company listened to their customers like DYC does
*cough* ford *cough* mustang mach e
@@brendancross2767 honestly why the fuck did they name it mustang without making it look like one
I would be SO curious to see purple interference mixed with shadow black on a black base! I've been looking for the perfect midnight purple/black colour and have yet to find what I'm picturing D:
I feel the exact same.
that sounds pretty. i too like the deep purples.
The great thing about fonzie is that he really cares about his product and company. Its not about money, its about putting a great end product out there for his customer. This in turn makes him a great leader and a person.
Make a shirt that says “We Fail So You Don’t Have Too!” Lol good stuff Fonz!
But at least spell it right!
@@adoksym you memer
Try, fail, peel, repeat...
Doesn’t Mythbusters have a similar statement? 🧐🤨
This is the best Research & Development Department ever! 😂😂
👍
I love the end result, I do wish you would've shown what the 1st one looked like instead of just saying it like bad so we could've seen for ourselves
Fonzie is such a g for doing stuff like this
I can only imagine this pearl effect on a white base coat making the car look like a literal pearl color.
Looking good with that end result. Just wanted to say thank you Fonz for all this work you put in not just using your own cars but taking a small financial hit every time you use your own products as well. Just goes to show your dedication bro. Greatly appreciated.
You nail it every single time, it’s not even fair
You guys used a low pigment load to see if that would work. I think that's what caused the "dirtiness" to show up. Essentially you are seeing the individual specs of the color shift pigment you used, which give the appearance of dirt on it. What if you instead went over with a high pigment load? This would essentially fill in the non-covered areas and should reduce or eliminate that "dirty" look to it. Just not sure if the original yellow color would still show through or if you'd just be seeing the pearls instead. Maybe paint half the car yellow and the other half a blue and then try it again with a heavy pigment load and see if it would make a difference between the 2. That would be pretty conclusive I think. You already showed a low pigment load won't work, might as well try a high pigment load, and then you can show definitively that a lighter base doesn't work as good as a dark base.
This.
It could actually work out, maybe
This, I think they could really pull this off. Cause going off this example, I still think its possible
Hey Bill! If you dump enough coats of a colored-powder Colorshift pearl over any base (dark or bright), eventually it will cover. With that however you've eliminated the purpose of your base color, used a ton more product than you needed to, and wasted money. At that point you may as well have just used a black base and save the time and product. People ask us about using bright colored bases with Colorshifts because they want those bright base colors to play a role in the end result. That unfortunately doesn't seem ideal. Our goal is to make sure you don't waste your money or time and get the most of of your project. Thanks so much for watching!
@@dipyourcar This!!!
@@dipyourcar yes but im still curious too see how the compleated "dirty" look would go, idk, i may actually like it. personally ive always wanted to have a car with the apperence of a rock or something or just something crazy and spotter maybe try a white base with some darker blue or red or idk, but all of this is art, i dont think art can be bad, it just depends who looks at it
I feel like this should have been done on your little test items you usually use for this. And have done it with different levels of pearls. 5,10, and 15 grams per gallon.
I really enjoy your content but my favourite paintjob so far has been the pendulum paintjob on the mustang. Maybe you could do something like this again, maybe like painting a car with colour bombs or something like that. I think this would be really interesting.
8:03 when she's REALLY happy with your results.....
😂
🤣
🤣🤣
Full scale fail...love it. Love how you guys don't just do a little speed shape. Nothing like seeing it on a full car to see if we like it.
This is like the real life version of doing that GTA 5 glitch to get pearlescent on the matte paint jobs.
How
Glad to see videos of why we dont do things like that.
Normally I am not a fan of Yellow cars. But this right here....... This was something special.
Honesty, integrity
You show this all the time
Great video! Thanks for sharing
I look forward to these uploads. The trial and error is so neat to watch.
I’ve recently started watching your videos and I’ve seen almost all of them and can’t wait for the next video once I finish the latest one!!!
I did gold interference over space grey and it turned out amazing, was definitely my favorite shift 🤙🏼
I like that it's still pretty much yellow... Can you do a subtle 🌈 effect on a white base?
That looks great, I would take it
I am constantly on the lookout for new vids and experiments, I love to watch these!! Finding makes it very interesting and fun to watch. Keep up the great work
Definitely a look at me color, but combined with this car, man it's extremely beautiful.
Congratulations for all your videos, and all the products.
The team and yourself do a great job, and I love seeing the aftermath. I’d love it even more if you would shoot these in 4k, so we can truly appreciate some of these magnificent mixtures.
Learned this one the hard way. Yellow with olive honey over it. I fought it and fought it and it looks dirty. Looks good from 10 feet. Up close no bueno. Good enough to get through winter tho 🤙🏼
I prefer the simple yellow over that ”pearl” any day😂
This looks so beautiful. I love it in the near future I will be painting my car like this.
Thank you for sharing the inspiration
I'd like to see you guys try to use a color tinted clear over a heavy set of those Europa pearls. Think maroon or british racing green tinted on a white pearl under layer
Its got a cool shimmer to it, I dig. Its getting to the point on this channel that if you want to know what a color combination looks like, no matter how wierd, theres prob a vid for it. Keep em coming.
I have been waiting to see what happens when this happens lmao, thank you! And keep up the awesome vids!
I’m late to the party...subbed about a week ago. Fonzie, you do amazing work.
Very nice end result. Love the interference pearls for the sophisticated look!
Best Uploadtime, greetings from good old Germany 🤟
Fonzie I have a idea for Breast Cancer Awareness Month you should raffle off a car kit with a Twist. The Twist being the winner having the option to bring their car to you to get dipped and learn how to do themselves along with tips and tricks. Then donate the proceeds to breast cancer awareness you could do 1000 slots at $10 to $20 a slot.
I love the heroic musical score that played while he was trying to fix the velveeta color, lol
Wow this looks dope. The car choice and rims only make it more amazing
I know nothing about painting cars, but what I do know is when you use that spray gun you move with such precision and fluidity. Like a painter with his paint brush on canvas. I'm curious to see if I was to buy one of your colorshifts powders and use it on a painting. I wonder how it would turn out. 🤔
That came out very nice 🤙🏾🥇
I love the experiments ... 👍
Best Combination, Superb
When you said "looks like dirt" I was thinking it turns your car a dirt color.. I was like "Some people want that though" lol no you mean it looks like specs of dirt xD
I love how you guys always take one for the team and come up with these miraculous creations! The good and bad, can’t say I’ve see. A bad one yet though. Not so much of a fan on the Velveta color though 🤣. Your personality really has be nearly over the fear fence on dipping my S550 Mustang. 🐎💜
Awesome work
Only thing i would have liked to see was a 3rd or 4rd coat of the olive pearl so we could see what would happen if you pushed it. Great vid overall Fonzilla!!
I love it I will be changing my color of my car to this exactly
Perfected. Easy on the eyes, love the color.
Looks super good
"We accurately mimicked the Velveeta Shells and Cheese color"....I laughed entirely way too hard at that...
Nice result 👌
Love, love, LOVE that color.
Usually don't like yellow but that has a nice pop to it..good job
HELLA DOPE🔥🔥🔥🔥
the olive blueberry i would love to see over a tan or a midtone brown. it looks like it would make a cool combo
I mean, this legitimately looks amazing
Looks awesome
I'm gonna replicate this color as best as i can in my drifting game straight up :D
what's your game's name
@@misterdumbass5306 gta of course
Second try looks fantastic!
Reminds me of the color Nissan came out with for their 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo.
One thing I would be really interested to see is painting pinstripes over top of your base coat. Can you brush on the dip colors, or should it be strictly airbrushed? Because I'm a sucker for a good vintage pinstripe look, and would love to know if it's doable with a fine brush.
I've only seen them use air. But I do imagine you could use tape to make the stipes
Awesome video!
Love it... thank you
In the main I don't like yellow but I have to admit that is an awesome paint job! I may have to look into variations of what can be done with these paints.
Thanks great Friday.. great videos..do you do any of these plasty dip .. with a chrome bases in various colors or different chrome color bases.. 🤔👍😊
The gold metalizer over yellow looks amazing.
I love it, this looks like the color on my Nissan, Solar Yellow
Came out good
Hey Fonz!
If I throw those jet black pearls onto a matte white, you think I'll end up with a cookies and cream look?
I thought for sure I was not going to like that yellow base but that looks freaking badass...
@dipyourcar Can you put colour shift straight onto a paint base or does it have to be plastidip?
Hi will your hyperblack with the colorshifting pearl you just used and the bright yellow i think it will look pretty nice. What do you guys think
If your a yellow lover it's perfect .I wonder how that style would look on my 68 LTD lol curiouse now
hello how are you doing ? you are doing a great job . i have seen lots of videos which you made , but i love to see brown shade with golden glitter or pearl white colour with golden glitter , i dont know for you its a good idea but you have done lots of experiments , so i thought why not this one
Love this yellow one 💪❤️❤️
Seen few videos and really like this projects.
As I notice it goes by popular demand.
Could you do mother of pearl on bright white or gem stone torques. Or that would be opal effect.
If there's already a project like that pleas comment the link.
Thank you all
Hey Fonzie where can order that "Velveeta" car kit? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really want to see a colour shifting pearl with a yellow base!. I think this turned out pretty alright. I am colourblind mind you
Have you used any of Stuart Semple's black pigments? Loved the LIT glow pigment video.
Do you have any videos or insight to doing a dip job as a two-tone style type of thing? Like a top/bottom, each color butts up to the other. Masking/tape off stuff? A video even maybe?
Veri good warks 👍👍
I would love to see some more of the darker pearls with a gloss finish
Hi.. Gr8 job.. I would like to see effect on white base color.. ☺
I would like to see this up close and personall....HOWEVER,it looks quite subtle and very interesting.I think I like it
Does the music they're playing in the mixing and spraying process(the 1st failed color and not the "fix") reminds u of frozen???? Cuz it does reminds me of frozen.
what is the best pigment color over battleship grey ?
That contrast in the end though is pretty insane
Have said, We fail so u don't have to. Before once I can remember.. AND 👌The white base pearl better over yellow..
Can you mix clear with normal pigments that you would buy to make your own paint colors for like canvas painting?
Usually hate yellow but this looks dope, like an upgraded Austin yellow
I want to do a black pearl on my 78 chevy step side, how would I achieve a black pearl with your products?
Hey DYC instead of going lighter with it go really heavy into it like go with a white or a sky blue and then go over it with a deep purple and put a ton of pearl in the clear and it should look pretty good hopefully
I want to paint my Chevelle an onyx black color with racing stripes that are damn near the same color but bearly visible, would one of thee interference color shifts accomplish that?
It's gorgeous!
Going all in with plastidip and for my first DIY I'm going to put down 3 or 4 layers of anthracite on a billet gill and then going to spinkle silver pearl flakes on while wet and then 3 or 4 layers of glossify with a sprinkle each time. Wish me luck
How was it!
Not gunna lie , the olive blue berry looks exactly like what happens when you mix dexcool and green coolant together and metal from the water pump failing....you made a color that is the same as coolant failure 😂😂😂
I'm not a big fan of yella but with the inference shift it turned out really nice.
I see the difference it still looks like a Mack and cheese color but with the dreamy pear overtones did ok but understand the correction good job
Everyone: oh fonzie going to mess up I gotta watch
Fonzie: ok just for a minute
