My jaw genuinely dropped seeing Lee open up that jam with a tapping line! Never would have expected such a badass solo on a metal track from the captain thinking back to the early days with Chappers, awesome stuff Lee
This jam was sorely missing Chappers!
This has been one of the best intro jam Iv seen you guys do in a while.
Hell yes! The boys been brushing up on their metal playing! That's amazing! Keep it up us metal heads are all proud!
Boomer metal
That poplar burl with gold hardware has to be the most beautiful rg' and one of the most beautiful guitars i have ever seen. Good Job on this one ibanez
I'll take Ibanez and Schecter's all day long , they make the best metal guitars IMO!
It's up there for sure. Ibanez know how to make a beautiful guitar both optically and on the specs and hardware guitar. I really can't think of a more stunning guitar (maybe the kirk signatures with the ouija board but this ibanez has become my dream guitar in the first 30 minutes of acknowledging its existence 😂)
@@yiannissarr7102 Iv'e got 3 in all different price ranges. They all sound good and the QC was never a problem...
@@mikeg.9238 what is qc
@@yiannissarr7102 Are you serious? QC quality control!
Great stuff, but I hate how Ibanez guitars are always pegged as metal guitars. They are easily some of the most versatile and accessible guitars out there, and deserve to be recognized as such!
Edit to clarify: I specifically meant that they are generally demoed on this channel as metal guitars, especially the RG body style. It would be cool to see them shown to be as versatile as they are, not just over a metal backing. Not to take away from anything the guys are doing, just a thought!
Dont think Ibanez as a brand is always pegged as metal guitars, but the RG series are metal guitars ;) they have several other models that aren't as "metally". So as a brand i would agree with you, they are very versatile and accessible.
I have the RG350 and the RG370 that are not worth €500 and I don't change them for the other Fenders and other brands that I have. They're like, Ultra thin mast and flat radius. And with a lot of pickups to play everything. That 3-pickup model in ebony I will end up buying for sure. Big guitars.
@@nicosand86 I respectfully disagree- the Rg started out as Steve Vai’s brainchild, someone who is just as versatile as the model. To call the RG only a metal guitar would be to call the Jem an only metal guitar- something it simply is not.
@@noAPlease no, Ibanez already had the RG series, it was one of the 3 models Ibanez sent to Vai, then he tinkered some with them, and sent them back telling them how he wanted them. The RG goes back to very early 80s. And also the JEM series isn't an RG, it has the main shape, but it's not an RG
Plenty of RG's are metal, like the black Iron Label in this video, but most can be used for anything. Specifically ones with 3 pickups.
I was pretty blown away by the playing it’s been a while since you guys did something like this and the progression is pretty damn good
Yes sir!! More of that please! Y'all been practicing and we love it.
That burl is wicked.
Captain, my Captain! That was a ripping solo! Bravo for venturing outside of your wheelhouse.
Love the metal jamz in this one. Lee and Pete are showing off some slick bends and riffs!
I have a RG5320 and is the best guitar i had played. Always my go to. Always in tune, never had to fight a instrument again.
I love the conversational style of these videos, Pete says something and gets completely ignored, love it!
GUYS! Didn't expect that intro jam from you two!
The Tone Zone really ought to be demo'ed correctly by showing the tonal options when the volume is turned down lower. It is one of the most dynamic pickups. I got an old MIJ RG prestige and no other pickup I have responds to volume quite the same as the Tone Zone. With volume on full of course you will get a ton of gain, but if you back it off to half way or even lower, you get a very nice clean almost single coily / scooped sound. You can also dial in a slightly crunchy rock tone if you bring it up a bit but not quite to full volume. Also, in the mixed positions of 2, 3 and 4 you can back down on volume and get very nice and almost authentic strat sounds.
Nothing against Lee demoing these, but I feel that strumming a few chords on each pickup doesn't do justice to these very versatile guitars.
TZ is an amazing lead pickup as well with all those low mids. Very mid-late era vanhalen
@@evanmaunders5688 I'm sure the EEBM guitar had the Tone Zone's before they were called Tone Zone's. They were designed by both Larry and Eddie.
Yeah well this video isn't a Dimarzio tone zone demo.
Lost me after the first sentence..🤣👍🇦🇺
@@Ron_Padgett No, but a demo of a guitar ought to demo the sounds, not just the looks and features. And demoing the sound isn't just strumming one chord in each position.
Always gotta watch to the end, the outro jams are always the most fun
Bought my RG when I was 14 in 1991. It was my first guitar. Since then I have bought everything you also need. Tele, Strat, Paula, Jaguar, 7-String, Semi-Hollow, Western and so on. But everytime I want a really good sound or when I want to practice difficult stuff I always go back to my RG!
Nice nech through construction, H-H pick-up configuration, wizard neck, looks like a very versatile guitar...
I like the none more black one and the outro jam Pete was gettin his shred on!
I am usually not a fan of gold hardware but I am loving this one!!!!!! awesome guitars
Nice to see you guys doing some metal shredding for a change!🤘
Fantastically amazing playing in the intro jam guys!
I loved everything about the intro that ola chug tutorial seemed to help a lot haha
Shredding eh! Rock on! Thanks for the reviews!
See....... that's what happens when you get hold of an RG......... superb intro jam. My RG's are all 20+ years old now, still love 'em.
Captain was Bringin it in the intro of the Video 👍👍🎶🎶🎸Well done Guys.
Fantastic playing! Caps really starting to shred now eh?
Happy Sunday gents! Killer intro and oh my god…. Pete’s guitar is SEXY!
Wow gentlemen, great explanation on the coil split and coil tap, Thanks
Had to get the extinguisher, because that opening jam was fire! Most excellent 👍👍
Ibanez knocks it outta the stadium with those new fancy RG's!!! 😮
That blacked out RG is AMAZING…I’m buying one. Holy shit
i enjoy Lee pushing his playing out of his comfort zone. Inspiring.
Great video, jam and guitars guys! Went to buy one, website says 3 months or longer 🤦♂️😭
Hope they arrive sooner!
That Headrush looper board and those 2 Ibanez Floyd rose guitars were awesome !
Whoaaaaaaa! What an intro
The captains first guitar really sounds similar to active pickups!
IMHO, These guitars are a great value for the money! I've built ~10 Firebird types guitars in my small shop. They are more complicated, more work and take longer to build than glue neck or bolt neck types. These look very well done!! With the materials they use, a very good value!! Again, JMHO... 8) Cheers --gary
Let’s hear it for the Captain! Epic pick tapping trill and dropping an Ola “Will it chug” reference.
All right! Go Captain my captain! You've come a long way in a few years… I mean you're really rockin.
The one you skipped, the 1270, is HSH and therefore different than the others, which are HH configuration. Missed the boat on this basic fact and not playing through the different sounds.
The captain tapping beast mode loving it
You two had your Shreddies that morning!
Absolutely loved this jam
my favorite part of these videos are the intro Jams
That's quite the intro. 🤘
LEEEE!!! Check you out man!!! Shredding. Its been fun to watch your progression over the years. Keep rockin buddy.,
I still say if you’re looking at something in these ranges you should also look at the esp ltd line. I’ve had many Ibanez and esp guitars and I’ve always enjoyed playing the esp/ltd line more. However I love my Ibanez basses.
Ibanez guitars have the best playability imo. Love em
Pete’s looking slim and 10 years younger these days. Congrats! 👍💪🔥🔥🔥
Fair play Captain, what an intro!!
Lee's tapping face is incredible
I like that all blacked out one Pete's playing
What the fuck, Lee!?! I did not see that coming. That intro was awesome!!
Guess I won't be needin' a morning coffee after that intro !!
Best intro jam ever 10 out of 10
OMG!
That opening jam!!
It was totally At…the beginning.
This is the sort of jam and tones you guys should have gone for in the new Jackson X range video and the Kramer “shred machine” vids. Those guitars are shown as “metal” guitars” and were more bluesy than anything in the vids and they didn’t sound great. The Ibanez RG range is way more versatile than most of those and still is AWESOME at this
Always good to see our captain shredding
Wow! great playing! hell yeah, you guys increasingly rule! ;-)
is Lee raising a sweat? Great playing guys, awesome stuff.
The RGT 1270 is a HSH setup with 5 way switch vs the HH setup with tap switch on the 1220
Lee's gonna be interviewing himself after that intro!
Are you going to do a video on the headrush looper?
Reminds me of that time I got a second hand Schecter V, my friend said I looked ridiculous with it on. So I sold it.
Is it just me, or is The Captain getting better and better with each video lately?
EPIC INTRO JAM!!!!!
RG stands for Roadstar Guitar because the original Ibanez that Came out was called a Roadstar, then they rebranded it
Lee is so much to watch play. He never thinks he's good enough or that it's "not his style" but every thing he does is excellent
That switch is a booster I do believe
@Lee @The Captain It is SO good, to see you getting yer confidence up! You're actually a very good guitarist when you have the gumption to stand up to the Danish Bully. Hahahaha! J.K.
FUCKKK... seeing you guys blast metal is the best thing.
Can someone explain the 5 way switch? I have this guitar and anything other than the bridge position sounds not very good.. it also does not at all behave like a normal switch, tonewise.
The RGT1220PB is my first ever electric guitar
Look at Lee go! What happened?! Good on you dude 🤘
The all black one is a supped up version of the blue lagoon poplar one I own that's a rgrt621 dpb I think idk but mine cost 650 and that ones 1100 something... Lee actually played the blue lagoon one in a video and alot of people on other videos was going crazy for the 650 with a neck through guitar with dimarzio pickups. It's the cheapest guitar I own yet ots a go to guitar for me...
LOL...day got the chung !! Not a great fan of the RG series so much but this was fun!!
Lee with the choppage!
Really need to have someone that can play good to demo these guitars
20 seconds in and Cap'n is pick-tapping. this is the super saiyan review.
What kind of glossy finish is on the Ibanez guitars
Cort make some great guitars and basses at the moment.
Pete, You are an Honorary Scorpion...
Awesome intro... they need to buy these guitars themselves
Captain Lee shredding? What's the world comming to? :)
Lee showed out on that intro!!!
Holy hell,Eddie Van Anderton is in the house.
To my knowledge a neck through provides additional sustain.
Can anyone tell me what scales are being used in the intro jam? And maybe what key it is in? That is the sound I am trying to create with my soloing but haven’t found it yet.
It's just D Minor stuff. Riff was D Minor and most playing was just D minor pentatonic.
Blimey, I hope my neighbours enjoyed that intro as much as I did
Tim from Polyphia will be here soon to bust on Captain & Pete’s ‘Boomer Bends’. LoL.
They wailed! 🤘😁
Pete is slowly morphing into a Pedal-Cyborg.
RG is short for RoadStar Guitar from 1986 and up they were the Roadstar series 2 RG *model number* example RG440 which is what replaced from 1985 and before the same guitars were known as the Roadstar Series 2 RS *model number* example RS 530 the 1986 year was when the original Ibanez Edge tremolo came out (86 was a unique model year for more than just the guitars the original edge as we know it with the licking studs and spring lock plate was only introduced starting in 1987 when the Jem came out along with what ended up being what became the RG body shape as we know it now as the 1986 and 1987 RG series had the back to the future Marty McFly / the Gary Moore out in the fields black guitar that was more strat shaped with odd sculpted hooks on the horns)
Thought we were about to hear a Mastodon riff until the dad solo broke out.. lol
Rabea would be proud!
Not for me but these are some gorgeous guitars.
Yes please, I'll take one😊
I dig the "none more black" one.
(I kinda didn't want to post this comment since the counter was on 69...)
We need tabs for the opening jam
Congrats Capt. on WHU win.
Woah... Lee put in some practice!
ibanez for life
Hey Ibanez!
When will you give us the RGT1221 ABS.
We are waiting. 😅
