- It wasn't just new content pitches at RuneFest (though a new skill, Elf quest, and Zeah expansion were all mentioned...), there was time for a spot of Bot Busting too! Watch as billions of gp were removed from the game by Mods Ayiza and Sween, aided by the sinister Mod Weath.

I was banned for RWT not Botting, thats why my bank was like 5m when they banned me. I sold 2.8b and they sniped my account 4 days later when i logged in i was force teled to lumby in the staff beta testing world. Perm ban so RIP just playing my ironman now.

How do they identify bots?
All these bot busting things do is make you realise how much a bot problem the game has and how much it ruined the economy. It annoys me how they boast about there huge player registered count when 40% of that number is probably bot account and I bet 30% are banned

lobsidedballs your argument really is bad, if people bought out the item than that means that the item should be worth a fairly good amount, as previously mentioned bots are artificially messing with the economy, if there’s little amounts of something it’s because players don’t want to go thru the hesitation of getting the item, which leads to higher value if they get that item.. using an argument like yours shows that you want easy gain, without bots you probably wouldn’t be able to even buy a d scimi

@@davidtomlinson9261 well they could have a designated world they just kept pushing bots onto and nuking if thats how their nukes work. maybe they can just have an auto bot killer running 24/7. however, you would need to have a perfect bot detection tool so you wouldnt be accidently killing real players, which is not gonna happen anytime soon

Waste of time and resources. They would first have to screen the report for the bot, set the bot detection system on the reported account, and once the system can confirm its sharing consistantly bot behavior, it will determine its %100 a bot and funnel it into the bot/mod only server for it to be nuked or publicly displayed. Multiply that by a couple hundred thousand.
that's still a pretty easy process from a cpu standpoint. all of that can be automated.

How do they truly know they were bots though? Some level 3’s just chill in lumby all the time
"Bot Flagging" is a way on where the bot's IP/Account is highlighted on their system as suspicious, they made a copy of the world, teleported all the flagged bots but the bots dont really know that they got teleported to a new world cause they are bots. The real players are on a different world/dimension where they can play.

It's a constant battle. They take down a large number of bots well then someone will just fire up a bunch of new bots in their place.

they say it isn't a good use of time. But I mean, remember the well of donations or whatever it was? I think they are a good way to raise charity and be a gold sink. I'd donate a few million gold or maybe drop $10 directly for a charity event and it IS really entertaining. With that new nuke option that auto deposits the items in the bank, it is immensely satisfying and the bots cant escape. I'd love a bi-annual bot busting charity even. Maybe just 2 hours of bot busting for a good cause you know?

A couple things there. 1. They don't ban immediately, as you can see here obviously they ban in waves. This makes it harder for botters to know how they got caught. AND 2. If they let you PK them it would defeat the purpose of bot busting, which is to ban botters and more importantly, remove the botted items & gold from the economy.

@MrSupermugen More than just a few. :) They're not "protected", they make their own bots and make them well. So the odds of getting banned are very low.

They made a seperate world where they put all confirmed bots to and killed them on the event. So every person in the world is a bot caught by the detection system or manually.

I was actually looking forward to the 5 years thing :( the botbusting was kind of lackluster, I hope next time they can do member areas so they don't just spend most of their time killing people in lumbridge. The fun of bot busting is seeing people actually botting stuff and banning them right in the act, not just mass killing people standing around doing nothing
My friend just started a new account, got it to lvl 5 and it got permabanned for botting the next day before he logged on again. Their bot detection technology is great /s

How are we sure everyone there was a bot?
They did this in a controlled server with accounts that were already banned for various reasons. They set them up to run around so they can "bot bust" them as a spectacle. Its all for show lol

They don't IP ban because most providers use dynamic IP addressing you'd end up with almost every IP banned eventually. They may use it for profiling accounts though seeing if accounts are linked.
vpn doesnt do much my friend used a vpn recently after rwting 3.5bill and they perma banned his acc he rwt'd on and his pure and main which never touched the money. they're actually pretty good at wrecking you once youve been caught so yeah, i wouldnt recommend

The accounts were identified as bots by there bot detection system long before this started. Plus you know Mod Weath doing his job. Created a world that only Jmods can access and the bots cannot log out. Forced them into F2P areas (note a lot of these are members accounts being botted so Zulrah etc.) so they couldn't escape. Then killed them as they went a long and the people running the bots would be none the wiser.

Lets be honest tho, this game is just one big grind fest. When a quest requires certain lvls that'd take 30+ hours to get, I'd wanna use a bot too.
If you don't like grinding, why bother even playing? The entire premise of the game is grinding....
Most bots are actually run in networks by just a couple people who then sell off the gold to resellers as a full time job. Very very very few bots are being run on actual peoples accounts since anyone with half a brain (even professional botters) know that all bot accounts get banned eventually. Botters move all their wealth to other accounts frequently because they know it will be banned any moment.
If you aren't willing to grind 100's of hours to meet quest requirements, then play a different game. Don't bot. It's common in the Skyrim community to see people with over 3000 hours played, and that's a totally offline game. It's not unreasonable of developers to ask for you to put in the time to accomplish things.
