Ray Castle & Collaborators - Mystique Of The Metaverse, released on 07. Feb 2018 by Suntrip Records - SUNCD47
One of the most distinguished trail-blazing legends of the nineties Goa movement, Ray Castle, has salvaged his DATs from a rhyzome time capsule stash containing artefacts from a truly revolutionary epoch.
Mystique Of The Metaverse is a pedigree selection of tracks resulting from mind-melding sessions at the apogee of Goa trance’s ascension as a multivalant style of dance music nuanced in metaphysics and cosmos and psyche. And they have been remastered by Tim Schuldt from the original DAT tapes!
DJ-ing in Goa, India, from the late eighties, Ray was able to translate the ultra word “Goa-state-of-mind” into this numinous music, seminal to psychedelic-intentioned dance music for wilderness settings.
Game changer, Rhthmystec, is testimony to his long-term relationship with Nick Taylor and what was happening in Byron Bay in the mid-nineties.
An artistic catalyser in Japan from the late eighties, he made parties and collaboratively conjured tracks. Time Traveller Of Trance was channeled with Masayuki Kurihara above his family restaurant, to become a Goa masterpiece, now reanimated with JoyfullNative’s stellar remix.
In the Roland robot kingdom, under the spell the far East, he had visions of a “neuro tribe” with Susumu Yokota and Take Tokuda, out of which came the Sonic Sufi sessions.
Deep in the Australian bush, together with Nick Spacetree and Mark Turner, he engaged in rituals and field recordings in the company of disembodied spirits and extra-terrestrials. These paranormal, and out of the body, experiences are Insectoid.

Well, then you know the spirit of Suntrip Records! Suntrip is a half French, half Belgian record label, releasing Goa Trance and melodic Psychedelic Trance. Suntrip Records was set up in the summer of 2004 by Fabien "Mars" Marsaud and Joske "Anoebis" Vranken. Since 2004 they are working together to promote Goa Trance as much as possible via CD-releases, parties, radio shows, etc. :)

I'm one of the nameless collaborators, I like the remix. Ray came to greet me the day I arrived in Goa 1992. He heard I was in Psychic TV and was a big fan. Nice to get to spend time with all. the old timers, and I was invited to play full moon beach parties alll night sets, not an easy thing to do one's first time in Goa. I miss those days.

When I saw that there was a later year [2018] remix of this great Classic Goa Trance track, I immediately recoiled at the thought of it and didn't want to listen to it. Thought it was going to be the standard, status quo Psy-Trance remix. But it came up on my feed a second time and so I gave it a shot. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised how good this remix is. Although you can't replicate the analog feel of the original or the raw, real time mixing vibe of the time, this remix really did keep some of the great sound and feel of the the original which was released in 95, but probably created around 1993. Not easy to do. Excellent work here. Glad I listened to it. May even pick up the CD. Well Done!!
