    As someone who recently switched to film, I agree with him. Its absolutely psychological more than anything else. At this stage in life, film is the better fit for me. And I'm no longer shooting a high volume of photos, so the cost isn't a huge factor. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter much. You just use what makes sense for you.

Encore svp !

    Always love hearing from Reuben, but the camera work on this leaves a lot to be desired (following every girl that walks by being the most annoying thing).

    Nice interview. The speech about the Trump party coverage confirms a mind thinking differently from the mass that tends to divide anything in black and white. His mindset and approach is the right way to get the work. As artists and photographers we should remove our personal opinions and being open to emphatyze in that moment. It can be an opportunity to know more about the world around us. A great video here.

    I love Mr.Radding’s photography- and he has a great sense of humor and earnestness too. So he’s a thinker. As intelligent and thoughtful as he is, I think he is somewhat cursed by a particular myopic New York worldview . One slightly tinged with over saturation, culture numbness, and a endearing form of nihilism . Having grown up in New York myself, I know this mindset very well. In fact it’s part of my DNA in a way so it’s easy to detect in others.
    The unspoken implication is that everything photography is New York. Anything not New York is “boring”. Anything interesting outside of New York is tragic or gritty. Nothing compares with our chaotic sludge of endless stimulation and survival.

    About the film... If you are scanning, definitely no meaning or matter. What's the purpose of shooting film to make it into a digital file??? If you are doing the whole process developing, up until printing, that's what makes a difference to shooting film!

    This guy has good shots but as a photographer saying his camera is just a box with a hole in it and it doesn’t matter why is your box with a hole in it one of the most popular, well designed and extremely expensive cameras on the planet?
    If it doesn’t matter then go out and shoot with a cheap plastic lens on a disposable camera.
    Guess what? Gear matters. And whoever says it doesn’t is either a pompous ass or genuinely out of touch. Stop it already, it’s been done to death…

    • @adeenooo5799
      @adeenooo5799 6 місяців тому +4

      You are completely missing the point. I'm pretty sure you can't take his camera and create the same photos with it. The best camera in the world doesn't mean anything if you don't have a good eye. I'm sure if you gave him a point and shoot he'd do fantastic things with it. The clarity of the image may not be the same but the interest will be there.

    • @ivanmuniz9812

      @@adeenooo5799 Do you have any reading comprehension? The first sentence I wrote is complimenting his photography. And your second sentence seems like the typical insult to someone with whom you don’t agree with.
      My Point is about some cliche statement made by fancy camera owners trying to make themselves seem way more humble than they probably are. I own multiple Leicas and Hasselblads but would never refer to them as just “tools”. That’s exactly what a ‘tool’ would say.
      Sure, and I’m the one completely missing the point. I think you read into what I wrote a little too deeply…

    • @adeenooo5799
      @adeenooo5799 6 місяців тому +1

      @ivanmuniz9812 yeah dude you're not getting it at all. A camera is a tool. And apparently so are you.

    • @pineear
      @pineear 6 місяців тому +1

      @@ivanmuniz9812 His shots that you like weren't only made with an expensive Leica, but actually several different cameras, including a point & shoot. The nature of photography is the same. The tools operate with some differences in capability or character, but the nature of the process is the same. I think that''s more the point.
